I got a 1x -> 4 slot 1x one. Its a bit touchy, can't flash bios in those slots(computer just freezes) and sometimes not all cards show up so you have to reboot a couple times but once you get all the cards to show up, there's no problem mining for weeks and weeks. Until you have to restart the computer that is.
Personally I found the experience too annoying so I'm not getting any more of those but if you can get them working right all the time, they would definitely be worth it.

long term? $0.15/kWh is way too expensive. Most of north/eastern europe and rural asia can get $0.05/kWh with a bit of looking around, thats who you'd have to compete with.

Its not exactly a problem, just kinda what you'd expect from not dedicating the gpu for mining completely.

definitely don't buy that thing, cables have current limits and if you y-split a 6 pin into 2x8 pin, you're putting quadruple load on the cable which will probably melt and damage other stuff under load. Also 2 of the 8 pin wires are for voltage regulation, they get snipped in the y-splitter which increases instability. If you're getting an adapter, get 2xmolex -> 8 pin. You still won't get voltage regulation but at least it won't damage anything.

MUST i connect two power cable yes

Thanks a lot for the answers and for the welcoming I have read about nicehash here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1274983.0 so basically, instead of downloading claymore for ETH and EWBF for ZEC, I will just use nicehash for mining and get an online wallet from blockchain.info and that's it right? Thanks Nicehash basically means trading 15% of your profits for convenience.

So, I found this listing on my country's IT retail store website. I even called the company to confirm about this and they said these cards are legitimate and will arrive by end of July. I'll pre-order some and see if they are any good. BTW price is around 390 USD. >$390 USD >End of July release, wont receive it until a few day into August at earliest. >Eth crashing, difficulty skyrocketing. >unsure future for polaris cards, possible fix in the works >will need to BIOS mod to get any decent performance out of it. >horrific resale value thanks to ZERO display outputs. Its almost like AMD & partners are taking advantage of you. Remind me how this makes sense anymore? Why would a person not just buy these for $300 on ebay all day long if they wanted an RX 470 so bad? Exactly, once these finally start shipping, the aftermarket will be flooding with $150 470's, 480's, 570's and 580's. You'd have to be an idiot to buy this card.

The 1070 that I use on my main computer does equihash around 10% less efficiently than the other 1070's I have since its also driving a 4k screen. Also I can't do other algorithms on it since those miners make things lag during normal computer usage.

I don't know where you're getting your info from but its dead wrong. 5x1070 will make ~$300 max in one month starting from now, ~$200 in the next month probably and will level out to $75/month by the end of the year. If you buy them at $700, they will probably break before making ROI which would take years.

They probably sold you shit quality risers.
I also got a bad batch recently, out of the 6 they sent me, only 2 were usable, the rest wouldn't connect the cards or would cause bluescreens etc. I guess I should consider myself lucky since they didn't burn anything.
Also from the pictures on ebay, it seems the bad ones I got are identical to yours, they are also ver 003. Meanwhile I also have a whole pile of ver 006s and all of those work perfectly.
The differences between the two versions are quite large even though they look the same superficially. Different regulator, different caps, different amounts of pcie pins connected to the PCB but most notably the PCB cutting and soldering quality on ver 003 are really bad.

why don't you just try them out, i don't have your cpu, i don't know.

I'm assuming by 4 pin you mean a molex connector (there are many 4 pin connectors) and by the 6 pin you mean the 6 pin PCI-e power connector
Between the two, it doesn't matter, the PCI-e socket is designed to carry up to 75w molex is rated for 132W, 6 pin pcie is rated for 75w so either works, all though, I recommend molex because otherwise you might not have enough pcie power connectors for the risers and the cards
there are also sata powered risers, SATA power connectors are only rated for 54w so I don't recommend those. They will work with most GPU's but not all, definitely not with the rx 400/500 series which are known for draining the pci-e slot pretty heavily.
Also, if you are just about to build the rigs, the party is kinda over man, cards bought now probably won't even make ROI.

I'm looking to get into mining. I already have one rig and it is performing decently, but I feel I need more.
I heard ETH's mining difficulty is getting harder and some people are switching over to mining Zcash instead. I'm currently running 6x RX 480's dual mining ETH/SC.
I want to build another 2-3 mining rigs, and want to make sure whatever I build will not decrease in performance mid->longterm. Would it be wise to build an Nvidia rig and mine alternative coins (other than ETH-based currencies) instead of building more AMD rigs?
If I had a nickle... Just buy ETH while it's low, you'll very likely profit next week more than you would with your $40k in the next 6 months... I dont know how u will convert 40k fiat into eth or btc in a week lol hes too late to profit from this dip bitstamp takes bank wires so...there's that, I dunno about other exchangers Good luck getting verified in under a month in any exchanges right now

No point in preordering, right now the demand is so high that you might be waiting for months until they get some stock and judging by the direction things are going right now, GPU mining will be pretty much done by then. I suggest you look up your local equivalent of craigslist, every country has one, I see 1070's going for €400 on mine almost every day. Even better, I picked up a 980Ti for €250 just a few months ago for mining, they are probably higher now but worth a look.
As for the cards, I have a 1070 jetstream, excellent card for gaming, massive cooler and very quiet at all times. Is it worth €100 extra though? No way, when I bought mine, it was right around the release when it was one of the cheapest cards available. The other one will probably be just a bit noisier but given how silent the jetstream is, I doubt that's an issue.

I think there's a minimum of 1000 ETHs to participate in POS, not sure if true though.
The actual number to participate is much lower according to the latest mauve paper. However, a few months ago vitalik said that you'd need a stake of 1000 - 4000 eth just to cover the cost of gas.

The difference between hardware and software AES in cryptonight isn't that huge, just some ~10% difference, its still the best algorithm to mine on your cpu. If anything, you can try overclocking your memory since despite its premise, cryptonight doesn't really fit in L2 on most processors in windows and hence is heavily bottlenecked by memory speed.

Is it safe? Haha, no. Not because of the technique used but because multi PSU systems that aren't designed for it are inherently prone to more problems. The most common problem is diminished regulation feedback which increases voltage ripple. If the PSU's are of good quality, they should be able to still keep it within tolerable levels but you can't really know until you try it. Also, there is an even more minimal option: Hook up all the power cables as normal Jam a paperclip in the secondary PSU's ATX connector so that it connects the green wire to a black one Start the computer

I think he's trying to stick the 8 pin motherboard power into a graphics card. Don't do it or there will be tears.

I didn't tell them to drain 1500w from a 1000w rated PSU, I was explaining why 1000w from a good 1000w psu is not a problem. If they go and overload their PSU's anyways, well.. there is the darwin award
