1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: July 17, 2018, 01:55:07 PM
Can anyone explain what the steps are for moving EOS to an exchange.

I held my EOS on Trezor via myether wallet. I registered them and got the keys.   What do I have to do to get access to my eos and airdrops.

Thanks in advance.

I have asked this a few times.  Can anyone tell me what the steps are, please

🙏 😊 thank you

Thanks for this but what are the steps.  EG: Download scatter first do X etc etc.  Is there a write up on what to do that is official.  How do I get my airdrops.

🙏 thank you, but want to make sure I am doing exactly as advised so I don’t lose my tokens.

Can someone walk me through what I need to do please.

🍻 🍻 cheers

I am so confused.  I registered my eos token before the deadline and have been waiting to find out when I can get them and transfer them to a exchange.

Does anyone know what the process is?  Is it safe?   What about the airdrops?

What are you top picks in that bunch?

Also who are the major sponsors, any keynote speakers.  If there are keynote speakers they are the ones to watch for big announcements and jump in price.

are people using USDT to park some of their profits?   How does it work.  If you sell ETH and get USDT can the USDT go down from what you bought in at?  I don't think so but want to check with prople using it.

Hi. Can somebody please help me. I just downloaded the GameCredits Core wallet and sent money to it with ShapeShift. The problem is that I cannot connect wallet to the internet. It says "wallet(out of sync). Please somebody help me. Thank you in advance.

It will be out of sync until you download the entire blockchain.  If you scroll over the bar you can actively see if it is downloading blocks and how many weeks left.  You have to wait until you download the block in which your game transaction was in to see it "credit" your wallet.
Thanks!
I have another question. I probably have to keep my computer on while it is doing it, right?

Yes you must have an internet connection while the blockchain syncs.

Are you saying it can take weeks for wallet to download

Holla CH,

So I started loooking at Bitbay.  Have not downloaded the client wallet yet, as it doesn't seem to work with my ipad, so will do it later on the desktop.   I have some questions

1) There are several projects in this space.  Some focused on specific market such as Augur is on prediction markets and others such as bitbay which offer several ways to engage with the platform.   I know you love bitbay, but why do you think it is better than its competitors? And aside from Bitbay what other project in this space do you like?  Just adding as I look into this more but seems quite a few in this space and with quite a bit of tech dev.  Sys, KMD, NXT and market specigic such as Augur.    Obviously, they will not all succeed -  We don't have multiple ebays.  How to pick winners from this bunch, and I am sure there are more I have not looked at yet.   For me the criteria includes:   Strong Vision, Proven Tech, Strong Team, Branding and Buzz (first mover advantage can not be underestimated) Funding.  Yes, funding is important as having deep pockets will help get you out of the gate faster, reach a critical mass quicker, and pull away from others in the field.    Given that wondering CH how you think the main players in the field stack up to each other?

2) My initial understanding is bitbay solves one of the current problems preventing buyers and sellers from using coins to buy/sell X, and that is price fluctuation.  Bay has a rolling peg.  How does this work?  How does it effect the price of the coin for people holding Bay as an investment?

3) Bay pitches itself as ebay without the fees.  How does Bay make money?

4) Bay pitches itself as ebay without the scams.  To buy/sell on Bay you have to put up a deposit.  Over time as trust is built the size of deposit decreases, but to begin let's look at newbie seller/buyer.   So if S is selling X for $100, S puts $100 in deposit.  B also puts $100 deposit and sends S $100 for X.  If S doesn't send X he loses deposit.  If B does not complete contract or something he also loses deposit.    In the example I used it is small change, but when bigger ticket $$$$ items are being sold and S has multiple items up for sale then S will have a cash flow problem because so much of S money tied up.  Possible it is not feasible for S or B to use the market as too much money tied up in deposits.     Is that your understanding of how it works CH or does it work differently?

Look forward to hearing your response and learning more about Bay

Hi these are GREAT questions indeed.

These are only my personal views and since I am not a high level designer or coder then these answers are not to be taken on face value you must investigate and verify them yourselves ...

OKay, so firstly I do love bitbay. However not essentially for just the reasons people may think. I also love many other of the projects you mention too. All of the REAL projects out there are certainly worth personal and individual investigation.
I don't see some of those as direct competitors to bitbay. Sys is aiming at similar things and I like that too but the approach is different. The reason I simply bought more bay was because it was 6x smaller cap at the time and I do like his approach too. However both devs are in a HANDFUL of what I would term super devs here. Investigate all the real projects here sys too he is another top top level developer.

The decentralised market places are not really the only feather in their caps. They are both expanding into many other things. The important thing to realise here is if you have a SUPER dev (komodo has one too) then they can design and code out many different things and the project is very dynamic. For example I have heard DZ (bitbay dev) say he is analysing all different approaches dpos, vb's latest ideas on scaling , hash graphs (although these are patented) all kinds of things and is deciding how next to improve bay once he has finished with the dynamic pegging.

Now just back to the double deposit escrow system just briefly because although the basic principle can be simple the applications and permutations of it are far to expansive for this thread and indeed probably my mind. Full explanation of it in depth would best come from DZ himself. However what you say could be the case if there were any rules set in stone. It is fully adaptable according the seller and buyer they can adapt the double deposit escrow settings as they like. Also combined with a reputation system you start to see that you can ask for the completion guarantee you feel is suitable. It is simply a way for it to make it very difficult if not impossible for a person to scam you and make financial gain himself. To me it is a great idea and is the only trustless way to have a decentralised market place. The design is also very interesting if you examine it as it makes use of bitmessage.

Really though it is a way to conduct trustless contracts and the applications that could be built upon the bitbay core as you can image are vast. Really vast. I believe bitbay was the first smart contract system. It is not as complex as of course ETH but the core functionality is there for so many things and sometimes simple can be very very beneficial as long as it gets the job done. Don't get me wrong even DZ says ETH is a monster bit of work.

So next the pegging - I don't mind admitting this rolling dynamic pegging system and the exact mechanisms its works upon are beyond my understanding. However stability in value is the key aim within certain parameters. It seeks I believe to smooth greatly huge fluctuations rather than bolster to a fixed price.

Even those things are not really my key reason for loving it so much. It has decentralised governance it , i mean really all the key things you need in a trustless decentralised project. But more than all this I have simply come to believe if he wants something new in the design he will make it. So that is the key thing for me with all of these. Locate developers that have a PROVEN and TESTED track record of being able to take new ideas an implement them into the design. His plans for bay are quite huge but again a lot of what he says is beyond my immediate understanding. I have been watching them beefing up the team lately too and the best part is the developer is the most responsive developer on thread I have found. You can ask him anything and he come and explains it right away.

I like bitbay a lot I like lots of these real projects it would be incorrect to say that I thought it was superior technically to some of the others only listed here due to my realisation that an average joe only has only small hope of differentiation at a deep deep technical level. I simply see you can say hey why don't we have decentralised voting and governance then he says sure and makes it happen. Even though he was busy coding other features.. He see's something new that could be beneficial like cold staking for super security- not long later bay has it.

Really though I say you must all download the actual bitbay wallet (not the qt the fully functioning bay wallet) and test it out and watch the videos how to use it. I do think there is vast room for improvement on the UI and some of it is complex for the average user but those complex features are just there for those that do need that power. I know they are improving and adapting it constantly. I am looking foward to david finishing the pegging because i know that is a huge and complex piece of work... and adding more of the exciting things he has mentioned.

To me it certainly was the best value project out there and still presents outstanding value compared to dreams and talk fantasy projects out there. Let me say if he wanted to make a dreams and talk white paper he certainly could. Ask him about anything crypto related or that any project has proposed. You will see there is nothing much out there that he can not grasp.

So anyway yeah.... don't just listen to my personal reasons for liking bitbay go and investigate it all in depth and any questions you realise are beyond my scope then david would have no issue answering you in depth. If people investigate it and think its not as good as another project then they must go for the other project. I am always looking around and still don't see any projects better value. That's just my view.

All real projects are worth investigation for sure.

Happy New Year CH.  Busy over the holidays and missed your wonderful and thoughtful  response.  thank you,and yes will post some of my questions to the bay team direct.  Wishing you a huge CH 2018🌝🌝

Can anybody explain why they are supporting this coin?   My understanding is they are creating digital identity.   If successful are we not creating a world where governments can step in and use this tech to demand everyone has a digital TAG to conduct all and everything from social media to doing your shopping online.  Sounds very 1984 to me and governments wet dreams.  Right now with cash etc the govt cannot exercise complete control and a 24/7 profile of individuals.

Crypto was created to break the power and control of banks etc.   By funding and buying this coin are you not just helping to erect the next prison?  Digital serfs.  TIA for your thoughts

You login in to this website, you login to any bank accounts, you login to exchanges, you must prove your identity to many institutions to do business. This project allows companies to "know their customer" with ease, when you need them to know you. If you plan to exist in the normal world companies need to have your information to prove who you are. You show them passports, birth certificates, and other forms of identification today. This makes getting that info, when you want them to, easier and cheaper to confirm. Would you rather give it to google and facebook like many do today so they can sell it to the highest bidder?

I do not need to prove my ID to log into most websites.  2). For the few I do those companies are independent of each other.  Yes, while it is possible that it can still create a digital footprint of my online activity it is not easy or straightforward.  What CIVIC seems to be creating is a universal ID, which you woul duse to interact with multiple companies/govt/etc.    It is way worse than anything Facebook can concieve because a universal digital ID means EVERYTHING you do is compiled and tracked and maybe if you say sh@@@t the  govt doesn’t like then very easy to make using your ID hard.

BTW, what is to stop civic selling your info etc to various companies.   I am open to being wrong about how this works,so happy to hear thoughts.  Right now this company and companies like it are the antithesis of the vision for crypto/blockchain.   SEEMS to me those of you funding this are HELPING to ERECT to the next prison one that will be far more powerful in tracking everything you do,and not allowing you to do anything without it.

If you are funding and supporting this coin I would like to hear how you think it’s goals will be helpful to humanity and in alignment with what crypto can achieve

Cheers

There are companies that must know who you are and prove that you are who you say you are. Banks, e-commerce sites, hospitals, etc. These companies pay big money to verify your identity when you ask for their services. Civic creates a system to streamline that information at a lower cost. The website does a better job of explaining it if you don't understand the need for businesses to verify your identity.

Blockchain Secured: Civic never has access to any users' private keys as stored on the public blockchain. Civic only receives hashes of the identity data along with a blockchain address to store the hash

Hello everyone,

We do notice that the new strong desire of the community is exchange listings.

We have stated our position on this numerous times before - we focus on development. We want to build a valuable product that will be around for many years to come. A thriving decentralized economy with the AE at the center of it.

Please remain patient and trust in our vision & approach to realizing it.

Hi I just started to look at this and can say first impressions are NOT good.  Your official website hosts 3rd party adverts.  really?  You have ads for other stuff on your website?

According to your blog you raised $12.5, which is a ton of money and one would expect to see at least a functional website.   Also you state that you were going to do another token sale in May 2017 and then the article ends.  Again, not a great first impression.  You say your busy working on tech dev, but if your website is any reflection of your tech skills and organizational skills it does not foister confidence.

Hey thank you for the insightful comments. We are always happy to so new people getting into crypto and blockchain. However, please have in mind that there are no ads on our website and it is functioning great.

Regards,

Just checked your site again and the ads are gone.  Must have been a glitch or something.  Thanks for responding.  It prompted me to check🌝

Your post just made me want even more centra

That's the funny thing. Centura just spent a lot on Marketing with Muhamad Ali. Look at the products. They wasted a lot of cash early on. They also have a larger marketcap meaning overpriced atm compared to Monaco MCO.

The app is better
Website is better
Card doesn't charge and Looks Betterc
All Cards are Metal Except the no lockup Plastic Card

You show very little knowledge on Centra. Your analysis of Monaco and other cards is off and your knowledge of the marketing is wrong. Go shill your bad info somewhere else. I'm glad you like shiny metal cards and fancy websites of other cards.

Wow you have a low IQ --

It's simple the application is smooth, the verification process is streamlined. The website is not built on wordpress with a blocky design. The only reason people buy it is because they see its $3 or $4 but fail to look at Marketcap. It is not cheap at all. The cards also are expensive. Annual membership fees.

Now we attack peoples IQ? You should be banned.

Let's look at your post and misinformation
You said

It's Centra! not Centura. Muhamad Ali is dead..maybe stay up on who is alive and can actually promote a product.
Like I said you have no clue. Go post your misinformation elsewhere.

Pretty high fees just to have a Card -- I agree. That is why I went with the Monaco card MCO. You can download the app from the itunes or google playstore. Very high quality.

Are you posting and then responding to your own posts?

It has gone up over 100% in less than a month.  I looked at it back then, did some research but got sidetracked by the holidays     Now close to ATH, after a massive run.  Think I missed the boat on this one?  Open to learning why you might think otherwise.

It's a bigger issue for Bitcoin than for Civic, tbh.
Civic is not yet open source - eventually one day, it will be. Open sourcing security software in the early days is very risky

-- Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/ArkEcosystem/comments/6fw0un/log_of_ama_with_civic_by_vinny_lingham/?st=j3nih9dl&sh=5aacd533

Is Civic open source in the meantime? I think it's a huge barrier for people to enter an identidy security platform when it is no open source. I mean that is simply not acceptable from my point of view. I mean you don't know anyway what Mr. validator does with your PII, but that's why you only confirm validators that you trust. But like this I have to trust a startup that writes some software.

It's not open source. Team doesn't want competitors to know the source. Maybe some day they will go open source!

Store data encrypted in a non open source programm does make not much sense to me. Furthermore non open source identity security is also a big issue.

I don't rely thing most people understand what Civic project is all about, it all stands against what Crypto stands for and Governement can and come in and ask Civic team to supply them their users information like COinbase and won't have any other option but to comply

However if crypto is to be adopted to the mainstream it will need to be regulated. This is why Civic is crucial is getting mass adoption. Plus civic provide better security for future launch. Like it or not Civic will be huge no doubt!!!!

I am curious how all these regulations will work out. The interesting thing I see is while regulators are now dealing with potential regulation for BTC, new protocols like Zcash are on the way to make it even impossible to track anything. I can hardly imagine what the world will be looking like in 10-15 years from now should all these crazy innovations become pervasive reality.
