1  Local / India / National Cryptocurrency: I'm back again with radical thoughts on: September 13, 2017, 04:17:05 PM
Bitcoin is tip of iceberg. National cryptocurrency are inevitable. Stop, think and support National cryptocurrency initiative and create a new class of asset with power of billion people.  Wink

I say it again: National cryptocurrency are inevitable therefore the sooner the better. Nationalist should get ready to support the cause, I believe.

Would like to know your thoughts, support or criticism on above argument.

P.S: lets hope stupid tech people do not move it to altcoins section like last time.

2  Local / India / [2017-06-22]On Bitcoin, India's Government And Tech Companies on: June 22, 2017, 12:33:08 PM
he Bitcoin craze is catching on in India. While tech geeks and young investors eye the digital cryptocurrency as its value soars, the government, too, is contemplating a course of action surrounding its regulation.

In a move expected to boost financial inclusion, the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance in India has formed an inter-disciplinary committee to examine the framework on virtual currencies. (It is expected to share its findings next month.) In addition, the government initiated a discussion on its forum MyGov to seek public opinion on virtual currencies. Clearly, despite some initial reservations, the Indian government is keen on understanding how Bitcoin works and is willing to deploy resources to build frameworks.

3  Local / India / Re: Huge huge transactional charges from Zebpay to Poloniex on: June 16, 2017, 05:30:56 AM
Hi All,

I am very very disappointed with the charges being applied by Zebpay. If I send Rs 10000 worth bitcoin from zebpay, I receive around 8800 at Poloniex.

I have to pay 200 rs as charges then another hidden charge of 1000 rupees as network charges. Ultimately I receive around 8800 only at poloniex. I scare I would face same while transferring from poloniex to Zebpay. Its insane paying your 25% money as transactional charges. Does anyone else face same or its only me? What is the better solution?

And they say Bitcoin is ideal remittance tool as it enables transaction without a third party. No mediator involved.. blah blah blah! LOL! Yay Bitcoin!

5  Local / India / Re: Oldest Bitcoin Adapter(s) in India! on: June 07, 2017, 04:56:49 AM
There was a guy named Dishwasher -not his actual user name. Pretty colorful guy once you piss him off. If you were to trust his words, which many (including me) do, he is one of the first serious miners from India, he had a whole series of eruptor blades & all.
If I am not wrong his real name was Pankaj Bharadwaj and irrespecrive of his past, he should be allowed to be on that list because he joined up btc pretty early and was an important member of the community.

You're right! Name should be updated on list.

Escrow.ms is also from 2012. He was the biggest escrow on this forum and was one of the people with highest trust. He then was arrested for credit card fraud, spent a year in jail and returned to the forum a few days ago. He lost all his trust when the news came out.

Yes. Escrow.ms aka Pankaj Bharadwaj was associated with Coinsecure thereafter came news of him engaged in illicit activities. I wonder, who else is active from this forum because lot people approached me for trades in hard cash. Is he out? What is he doing these days?

P.S: I'm not so early adaptor. I got engaged 3-4 years after Satoshi mined genesis block. Every year is a decade in Bitcoin world. Grin

He is out on bail now. His trial starts next year. According to him, he was used as a scapegoat by the police. Just checked one of his old addresses. He got around 0.13 btc in payment which means he is still active in bitcoin world.

I found out about bitcoin in november 2013 and joined in 2014. If 3 years is old enough, I am also an old member Tongue

Bro, you're an old member too. I bestow up the title of an early adaptor. Tongue

You're running shit pool software. Try ckpool (see my sig).

Well, I appreciate your inputs here. But, it seems conflict of interest to me. I'd be really thankful if you can help me point of mistake or comment of question raised.

Thanks ck!

14  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Am I missing something? You understand better! on: August 19, 2016, 10:57:25 AM
I'm experimenting with Open Source code available on Github (https://github.com/UNOMP/unified-node-open-mining-portal) to run a mining pool.

We got everything working and started mining with everything deployed on Digital Ocean’s server having 20 CPUs and 64 GB RAM. But as soon as we connected enough miners to reach 1 PH/s, we started getting socket errors and the CPU usage crossed 80% and the miner connections started dropping off.

Next, we shifted the entire setup to AWS using a c4.8xlarge instance. Now we could reach only upto 800 workers (3.7PH/s) and similar problems started coming up.

I did a little digging into the setup and here is what it contains

1 Bitcoin Server (a full node which runs in the server mode and accepts connections through the RPC protocol) - runs using bitcoind - Is one of the concerns as it is single threaded and I am unable to run it in a multi-threaded way.
1 Node Stratum Server https://github.com/UNOMP/node-merged-pool - this connects to the bitcoin server above using rpc and this also eats up a lot of CPU
Node Servers for Frontend / Payments / etc - this works fine

Now, that we have the overview of the scenario and the problem.

Here are the questions that come up to mind:

1. Can we run bitcoind in a multi-threaded way?
2. Can we run bitcoind in a distributed setup (with multiple servers behind a load balancer)?
3. Can we run the node stratum miner in a distributed setup (with multiple servers behind a load balancer)?

Any expert who have come across same problem or understand the need  are welcome to help me. Answers, comments and thoughts are really appreciated.
Thanks in advance! Smiley
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tierion REST API HELP on: August 10, 2016, 11:13:34 AM
This is first time, I'm working on API and its really painful. I'd really appreciate if you can write code to authenticate. I'm sure, I can write GET, POST command thereafter.

The code is right there. Just look at my earlier post. The first two code blocks are the code that you should remove from your script. The last block is what you should add right after
Code:
$curl = curl_init($service_url);

Thank you Knight!
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tierion REST API HELP on: August 08, 2016, 09:04:46 AM
Since it is a GET request, you don't need this line which is for post:
Code:
	   curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_POST, true);

Furthermore, you are authenticating incorrectly. The authentication stuff should be in the headers, not in the body of the request.
Instead of
Code:
	   $curl_post_data = array(
        "X-Username" => 'EMAIL ADDRESS',
        "X-Api-Key" => 'API KEY',
        );
   curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $curl_post_data);
you should have something like:
Code:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array(
        "X-Username" => 'EMAIL ADDRESS',
        "X-Api-Key" => 'API KEY',
        ));

Note, I don't have experience with Tierion's data api. I just read the documentation you linked to, I highly suggest that you give that a read and fully understand how the API works, and how HTTP Requests work.
