1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Teleport/Telepathy/Ramchains/SuperNET Core on: April 28, 2015, 09:41:47 AM
Hey folks, long time lurker and holder here.

I'm sure this has been asked already but there are just too many pages ...

Any ETA for updates or news releases on SupetNET / InstantDEX / BTCD? Even extremely rough, like, estimated quarter or year?

Glad to see you're still so active and plugging away jl777. Your dedication and energy is always such an breath of fresh air in the world of crypto!
The near term timeline is for me to get the code into plugins, GUI release, windows port, one click installer

all four of these things are working to some degree, so we need to do a test cycle, find the bugs, fix them, retest

If it takes 2 weeks per cycle (test, fix, retest), then over the next month or two we will get progressively more complete and more solid versions.

James

Timescale - month or two maybe

Goal progressively more complete, more solid versions of 4 different features   Huh Huh

Dreamers...

Melvster, it's a bad enough situation already, without you constantly try to make it appear even worse still and inferring that's it's just the tip of the iceberg.  Este, kenny, thank you.

I dont mean to infer that it's the tip of the iceberg, sorry if that comes across or you see it that way.

This project has been dogged with a lack of transparency.  You've been more transparent recently, and that's a good thing.

Do I think it's the tip of the iceberg.  Maybe, maybe not.  What we have found out I would have considered out of character previously, in fact, I would not have believed it.  But new things come out every day.

The latest I heard is that you bought over 20 million GMC at 1 satoshi and pumped it up to over 1000, then executed a massive dump.  All the while telling the BTM community you were working full time on marking.  We do have a right to know about this, after all, you used our money to do this.  People are also saying that you only went anonymous because you uncovered some XRP scandal.

What I'd advise going forward is just be 100% open and transparent, write and check in code ASAP, and make marking a reality.  If bitmark reaches its full potential, all the other problems will solve themselves.

It would be good to have Mark comment on this.

Yes unethical behaviour occurred, on my part. I dipped in to a trading fund a few times for basic needs, and over time it mounted up, I'd hoped to simply trade back up again, but given a negative climate I started to dig a financial hole

Well that is just charming...  Mate, I believed in you, enough to donate to the cause and mine the coin for months.  If you were doing that tough, you should have asked for help. The community would have helped you out.  But now we have a situation where funds are missing, the dev wont show his face here and that is only making things worse.  Development on the coin is non existent despite it desperately needing work on both the algo and the marketing of the coin.

Mark, if you want to save this project, make yourself visible again.  Tell us what you need to move the coin forward and help will be forthcoming.  Hiding in a corner is only killing the coin.  IMHO, what needs to happen ASAP:
1. An algo adjustment.  Fortunately it is still weeks until the next diff change due to the pathetic hash rate.  Plenty of time to make it happen.
2. Marketing. I'm no marketing guru but this coin is nearly a year old with no real concrete implementation of "Marking".  What was a brilliant idea a year ago is rapidly being overtaken/copied by others.

I have some friends that may be able to help. I'll talk to them and see if they are interested and get back to you.  No promises as from what I can see there has been a lot of "Fiddling whilst Rome burns" going on here. It's time to stop discussing possible solutions and testing possible algos and DO SOMETHING.

Quoted for truth...

Unfortunately this project is now in kind of limbo.

Coinsolidation was having marital issues and was without internet for a couple of days, saying he'd be back last sunday.

We've not heard from him since, and have been unable to get in contact, but are trying.

Our primary thought is to make sure markpfennig / coinsolidation is OK, then hopefully get this project back to development.

WRT the project I have the alert codes, but unfortunately not the keys to the foundation nor any of the marking code that was written in the last 8 months which remains in a private repository.  There's currently no codebase checked in to build on

Regarding all those that donated to the foundation, medic has said he may still have the keys on an old computer, we are not sure.

We hope that mark is doing well and if anyone is in contact with him, or knows of someone that is, it would be great to know.  As a community our focus now is on getting back in contact ASAP and making a plan to go forward.

I heard that Mark is handing over project for the next couple of months and then will return in May part time, do you think it's feasible that a multi user wallet/Web marking will be available by Q3
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: February 26, 2015, 09:53:14 AM
We have implemented an alternative difficulty algorithm on a test coin named zmark.

The new algo changes difficulty twice as frequently, and reduces the maximum change from 4x to 2x.  This should serve to dampen the effects of the low/high difficulty cycle, allowing the network and market to find equilibrium quicker, thereby keeping supply limited to some degree when demand is low, but without letting the network get too slow.

Historically Bitmark difficulty swings between ~500 and ~2000, +/- 4x, whilst the ideal difficulty is usually around 1000 for a performant network based on average market price through a difficulty cycle.  The proposed change would mean the difficulty would change 500 -> 1000 -> 2000, and the network effect should be that the diff will hover around where it should be with +/- 50% variance, never reaching the extreme 500 and 2000 swing.

Once we have the results of testing, and if they are positive, we will discuss the tradeoff here and vote as a community as to whether to change it or not.

Leave algo as is, keep the same as btc and ltc limited coin supply is better.

The only moaners is miners.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New reputation system integration on bitcointalk. Questions for people. on: October 21, 2014, 08:25:02 PM
Mhhh... I don't know if this is a good idea.

Reputation makes sense when it comes to transactions, but for content only it doesn't provide more information than can be obtained by reading. Actually I think it's likely to lead to abuse, either to damage or improve a user's reputation. It will quickly establish biases and prejudice towards users as well because the importance of every post will be evaluated based on the user's reputation, giving less attention to the actual content and disregarding the fact that even low rep. / high rep. users might also post quality / crap content.

As a result it will make conversations in the forum more one-dimensional and superficial. People will read less and will pay less attention taking the reputation short route.

ya.ya.yo!

I don't think it will be as distracting as you might think. Originally there won't be anyway to see someones reputation right away without going to the ledger site. That might change overtime if we develop a browser extension will could overlay each persons reputation.

The general idea is that it incentives good content and provides people will a small reward(that has the possibility of appreciating over time in adoption grows re:demand).

People won't be able to damage anyone's reputation as there is unlikely to be anyway to negatively affect it. People trying to abuse the system will hopefully be mitigated somewhat by the algorithm developed. But also remember that every marking is on a public ledger, and humans tend to be good at spotting things that don't look right. So people who attempt to abuse the system will likely be spotted I would think.

If someone makes a new account and is posting quality posts and good content I would expect that person to be marked accordingly and receive reputation.

People should still be reading threads as they do now I'd imagine. I don't know why people would read less than they do now.

Thanks for the comments. Smiley

bad idea because this is forum not room chat

I would think it would be more important than chat, as more substantive issues are normally discussed on forums. People can be rewarded for contributing thought provoking posts, or making people aware of important information.

So how can I now do this marking you talk?? I see on polo, but who to do on here  Huh Huh Huh

If it were active now it would be something like this:

+20 bitcoinbboyce great question

Not sure on how the exact syntax will be after testing. But something like that.

Ok so the syntax will be the same as the polo marking, this have ledger too? How to retrieve my marks from btt??

You will try btc-e twitter and Facebook too??

The chips looks great but I don't know if they are helping the price. Volume is coming done along with the price. We need the asset managers to sell at least one asset already.

Yeah a proof of concept would be great, anon coins come with white paper then dev proves his worth (or not).

Sync comes with the white paper + domain name list, would be great to demonstrate this actually works even if it involved a very small amount of btc to whet our whistles.
