Can I please urge everyone to ignore and not quote trolls/fud in this thread.  Since the name change, this thread has been inundated with trolls with the usual crappy arguments like 'scam coin', ' instamine' and all the other bullshit they try to throw at us.

If you just ignore and not respond to these pathetic arguments and baiting posts then eventually they will piss off back to their own worthless alt-coin thread.

And despite all the trolling and pathetic attempts to bring DRK/DASH down, the price has not only stabilised at 0.01 but is now pushing back up through 0.011 even with some people abandoning ship since the name change. I think the MN count is about the same or possibly higher too since the name change announcement too ? (dont quote me on that tho).

It is clear to the majority that a name change is a good thing and although we may not all be convinced that DASH a great name (me included) we are all convinced that the technology DRK/DASH brings to the world is amazing and that the dev team is doing a fantastic job overall.  DRK/DASH is a genuine contender for being one of if not THE main digital currency for the entire globe.

Focus on the goal people and make a DASH for the finish line...!  ha ha

I've got a solution to all your "boo hoo Drk coin is bad" bullshit...i'm looking at you mainly arielbit

The dashcoin community stay the hell out of the Darkcoin/DASH threads and the Darkcoin/DASH will stay out of your thread.

Then we can all focus on things that are important and you guys can do whatever the hell you want with whatever the hell name coin you choose.

I urge any other Darkcoiners to leave this thread and to ignore any trolling/fud on the darkcoin thread.

thanks for your time.

Roll Eyes that's darkcoin blood hounds been always gibbering all this time..........marketcap, price, value of the coin.. these guys are so greedy they forgot that there are people trading at poloniex with significant volume, miners, community who bought and hold, and a dev which darkcoin bought.

trying to make small marketcap = dead

i have to reiterate again dashcoin dev latest development was feb 08 2015..

i dont get what the problem is here....

the Dashcoin dev sold out to Darkcoin-DASH.  That's it.  Move on.  Where do you think Dashcoin was going to end up anyway?

If you have a gripe, take it up with the dev who sold out. Who seems like quite a smart person I might add.

not scam, but only disappointed. buy at price 0.0007 and now the price is 0.0000xx Cry

I bought some khashs at the start of 2014 and paid over .001 for them!  I've just kept buying more and more, very happy with the site and the admins so far.
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 11, 2015, 10:47:37 PM
Long time lurker and hodler here - bought the first DRK in early March 2014. Also am a happy owner of several masternodes that are running without any issues for weeks now.

This is my first post and might get a bit long - so please bare with me and be nice Smiley

Overall, I'm quite happy with the idea of the rebranding finally going to be implemented - after reading about it for almost a year.
Now, I'm not a native speaker and I can only speak for myself: DASH sounds just fine to me.
It has always been difficult for me talking to friends about cryptocurrencies in general. Bitcoin is still just some kind of weird internet money for most of them, used by geeks to buy illegal stuff. So I never even actually tried to talk about or explain Darkcoin - mostly  because of the name and the implications associated with it.

But that's a whole different story with a new name like DASH. DASH doesn't sound bland at all to me - it sounds simple (in a good way), quick (literally), rolls off the tongue easily and there is a lot of room for a brand to be build around it - and that's the important part!
I can also only second the post made by Minotaur26 a couple of pages back regarding Apple: Just imagine yourself speaking to Steve J. or Steve W. back in 1976 and hearing of about a computer company named "Apple" for the very first time - a computer company! Didn't make much sense back then to regular folks, probably doesn't make much sense today. But it just works. Why? Because they build one of the strongest, valuable and respected brands around that name. The Same (on a different level) applies to Uber, Circle, Square, Stripe, Slack, ... - all of them built or are in the middle of building a name and a brand for themselves. But it's not about the name - it's what you make of it!

And just to speak from my own experience after having worked in the design, development and startup area myself for the last 10 years - it just takes time getting used to a new name or design at first. Sometimes it's love at first sight - but that's very, very rare. Now, it's not love at first sight with DASH for me - but it continues to grow on me.

Dash (the detergent) is also available where I live - we luckily don't have any Kardashain stores over here - but there are also a lot of stores selling apples Wink
Now there are a couple of down sides with the name though. The first thing that comes to mind is the searchability and distinguishability. The other thing that really needs to be taken care of is the name of the brand itself and if there are any similarly named brands competing in the same or a similar space - and I'm also speaking from experience here. I really do hope the foundation is on top of this, because we definitely can't afford to be forced to do another rebranding in a couple months just because something has been overlooked in that area.

I'm sad to see valuable community member like vertoe leave because of (apparently) bad communication between Evan, the foundation boad and the dev team. Now I don't know what went on behind the scenes exactly and I also didn't quite like the way the foundation and Evan handled the rebranding anouncement and especially not informing some (or all?) of the developers (just assuming that's the way it happened, based on Evan's update) beforehand. And just as a side note: This hasn't been the first time, that some announcement has been kind of screwed up - so this is definitely something that needs to be looked into and worked on!
But we will never be able to get everyone on the same boat regarding the selection of a new name - so some hard choices will have to be made and someone (or some group) will have to take them. Some people will like the changes and continue to support the coin and community around it, new users will come aboard and some long-standing members will leave.

In the end, we should all be aware that this rebranding will not be an easy undertaking - but it's necessary to take that step. It'll take time, a lot of effort and also a lot of discussion/coordination. So the proposal made by Evan to hire a company that will be taking care of establishing a new brand is a great (although probably quite expensive) idea - if it's done the right way. However, there still needs to be defined what that company will be taking care of exactly (design/wording/PR/etc) and who's going to select the company and who will pay for that.

One thing that I still don't see a suitable solution or proposal for yet is on which level certain types of discussions will have to take place and who exactly will be able to take part and have a say in them - or to put it in another way: What kind of issues and topics will be discussed on which level (devs, foundation board, foundation members, dev, masternode owners, community members, etc...). But that's probably something that should be talked about and defined on a foundation board level first.

Just also wanted to add a small remark regarding the "morse code" idea:
Now first of all, thanks for getting involved and coming up with the idea, f2000. However, I'm really not sure, if we want DASH (or whatever the name will be) to be associated with a technology that's more than 180 years old, slow (lots of "beeps" for every single character) and complicated (one needs to know what to make of all those beeps in order to understand the message or how it works).

I know that these are only the first small steps and ideas towards establishing a new brand and identity for Darkcoin - and we haven't even really settled on a new name yet. But there are a lot of facts and pitfalls that need to be considered if we want to get it right. And we really have to!

Now there is just one more thing I wanted to point out and close my first post with: The technology behind the name is still the same and it will stay that way. But in the last couple of months, DRK has evolved to something more than just being "dark" (in the sense of being anonymous) and it will continue to evolve and grow stronger.
First it became anonymous (or another term that I prefer "private") with Darksend and the Masternode network. Next it became instantaneous (or at least very fast) with InstantX. The next steps in its evolution will make transactions even more private with Mastermore Blinding and Masternode IP obfuscation, more secure for regular users with 2FA and more scalable - if the ideas Evan announced in his post (and no one is sadly really talking about at the moment) will indeed work out. But I'm just gonna trust him on this.

All of these innovations and efforts could be summed up in just one simple value proposition: Make it more usable!
And in that case, "Darkcoin" simply isn't appropriate and doesn't appeal to a wider audience or userbase.

IMHO, it simply isn't the right name anymore to capture the spirit, believes and ideas of what Evan, all other devs, the foundation and community members are working on and trying to achieve.

Just my two duffs, though…

For not a native English speaker, you put this incredibly well.

Agreed, very well written and a great argument for the name change and rebrand.

Thanks to everyone that +1'd my logo.

Here's a bit of an improvement, including what I think would be a good slogan.

Here. I actually took a few minutes to clean it up and do it in Illustrator rather than my quickie earlier version.

Love it!

+1

Yep I like this too.

I'm still not 'in love' with 'dash' but it's growing on me and i think it will work as a name in the marketplace so until an official decision is made by Evan and the dev team can we stop the dash-bashing an move forwards?!
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 11, 2015, 08:47:27 AM
price is picking up a bit again now.

I think as a community, we are all here because of the technology Dark/Dash offers not specifically because of the name.  If Dark kept its original 'Xcoin' name it would still have the same technology and most likely the same people investors and people interested.

I've followed Dark since the beginning and although I am not a huge fan of the name 'dash' it is slowly growing on me and I think there are alot of other names that could be a lot worse too.

So, for those that want to dump their coins and sell off Masternodes, i personally think that is a very short sighted view.  You will also be regretting your actions in the coming months i believe.

I have not sold a single coin and will not as long as dark/dash/whatever keeps on the path it's on with groundbreaking new technology and world crypto firsts.

If you wanna jump ship then please also jump ship from this thread too.

I like 'Digital Cash' as the slogan just not 'dash' so much.

What about simply dCash?

Wow what a crazy 24 hours or so since the name change announcement.

Personally I like the name darkcoin but I do agree a name change is required to really capture the market in the same way bitcoin is slowly growing.

DASH? Well I'm not sure, it's kinda ok but a bit lame. At the end of the day it is just a name and the technology behind it is sound. So if the decision has officially been made by Evan and the team then let's just move on and run with it.

So is DASH 100% official then ? Can Evan or a dev confirm coz if so then the debate needs to stop now.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 09, 2015, 04:31:55 AM
I would suggest to stop replying to any of AdamWhite's posts. He clearly has no real argument and is just trying to get a reaction from everyone.

If the best thing he can come up with is 'instamine scam coin' then it's pretty clear he is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Wall or no wall DRK keeps powering on.  Back over .013 now without a Otoh wall on Cryptsy.

I personally think the key is BTC-e to really get DRK moving.  I'm sending some BTC over to my BTC-e account just so i can post on the trollbox everyday some subtle darkcoin related comments to get them thinking!

Apollo that email looks like a phishing email, do not click the link.

For anyone looking to deposit with Scrypt CC, i can tell you that I have had funds there for well over a year now and they have been very good.  I've continued to re-invest most funds and I have made some small withdrawals too.

The person that runs the site posted the other week saying he had been quite sick in hospital for a while but the site was still running fine with help from others.

I do not believe this is a scam in any way and I hope the site continues to run for a long time to come.

Good to hear you are back on your feet again ScryptCC.  Hope you and the scrypt.cc site stay around for a long time!

I keep re-investing my BTC back into Khash and i'll keep doing so.

377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EAC] EarthCoin - EAC v1.3.2 Now Available! on: February 12, 2015, 03:46:17 AM
hey all, I just noticed EAC has gone from 3 sats up to around 7 sats.  I haven't followed this coin for ages and just wondering if there is any actual developments going on?

I really loved the idea behind EAC and remember the glory days when it was at around 160 sats.  I think I still have a wallet somewhere with a 100,000 or so.

Would be great if the EAC community can make something happen.

Wow this is amazing to watch. I don't want to go to bed and miss any action.

DRK has barely reached even a small percentage of the adoption of BTC. Can u imagine once retailers realise how important InstantX is and they all begin to accept dark?!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Evan and the dev team are geniuses!
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | InstantX on: February 09, 2015, 10:00:46 AM
Exciting times upon us again, I dont want to go to sleep tonight because I dont want to miss the action!

Anyway, as many of us are aware, even at 0.01 DRK is still quite cheap given its potential.

Although I am hopefull it will boom and break through 0.02, 0.03 etc etc I think for that to happen the coin needs more adoption still.

Most people buying DRK are investors ready to sit and hold (myself included) but until people can actually spend Darkcoins (yes I am aware of the sites currently accepting DRK but we need more) too I think the price will steadily increase but not skyrocket.  Although I am not a supporter of any silk-road type markets, once this type of market catches on as well as the traditional online goods retailers like Dell and Overstock did with BTC, then Dark will really boom.

And of course if BTC-e would pull their head out of their ass and accept DRK that would go a long way to increasing the value of the coin too.  I think for that to happen, LTC will pretty much have to be utterly dead which will probably happen at some point this year maybe?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the year in crypto and watching my small stash of Darkcoin gain in value.  And for the record, I aint selling a single one until we hit atleast USD $50ea and then I will sell maybe 5!
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: February 03, 2015, 11:39:30 AM
well I've just done a small withdrawal and it went through OK.

I'm not sure what to make of it, the site owners haven't been on this forum for almost a year now.

they keep paying and everything keeps working though.  I hope they don't shut up shop, I've been with them for almost a year now.
