Hello, MTgox denied my verification request... again... so I'm looking to use alternate methods. I have $50 in dwolla that I would like to exchange for an equivalent BTC. I understand if you are leery about doing that all at once, I am myself. So we can split it up or use escrow (I'm a noob to the whole escrow thing though... so a little hand holding would be appreciated ), one way or the other I'd like to use my dormant Dwolla funds for BTC.

Hello, I'm looking to buy something for around .3 bitcoins, but right now I only have .25. Mtgox denied my verification request AGAIN, so while I resubmit my info and make sure every bloody pixel is completely visible, is anyone willing to sell around .05 BTC on paypal? I understand if you would be leery about that, but that's why I want to keep it small, because I hope people are willing to sell for around $6, using paypal or dwolla.
Thanks, feel free to post in this thread or message me if you're interested

You can set the intensity for how you want to mine in CGMiner. It goes from 1-20, with 20 being your-computer-is-unusable tier (seriously, I've never heard of anyone running it at 20).
I have two settings going, one for 17 intensity which has my 5870 mobility running at about 93-97 C, and one for 12 intensity that I can leave running while I use my computer, which usually puts me around 83 C.
I use it for litecoin mining, but I think you can use it for bitcoins as well.
You can use CGEAsy to set it up if you're unfamiliar with editing batch files.
I always leave bitcoin running -I 9. What is this mobility? It might not be good to mine those?. No, it's not, that's why I watch the temp and don't leave it running longer than 12 hours.

You have to have nerves of steel to an extent. I only have about .5 BTC but I was tempted to sell yesterday. Can't imagine what it's like for someone that has their life savings in bitcoin.
I just have a good feeling that it will bounce back up though, the indications are all good, it's really just a fluke that it dropped down this low IMO.

I think you have no idea what you're talking about and use way too many smilies.

I'd definitely advise against a refund, because you can sell your place in line to someone else. If BFL's very slow or shipping a few prototypes which'll never be remade, put that risk on someone else and collect a small sum extra over just getting a refund. Generally, because BFL has some dislike of preorder resales, you have the units shipped to the same address (yours), then ship to the buyer once the product's in your hands. Oh, and you should use free escrow (mine, merely for example! ). This. Why just get your money back when you can make more?

what do you mean slow intensity switches for poclbm are -w and -f I set mine at -r1 -v -w20 -f10 but still overheating...
Like I said, switch to CGMiner. Not sure what the settings are for poclbm

lol even mining isnt a great way to get bitcoins for someone who is new Not necessarily. My friend is new to BTC but has a decent gaming rig, he's getting 550 Mh/s and is making more than I am. Not anywhere near enough to make a living, but very nice pocket change somewhere to the tune of $40-50 a month

I'm mining LTC to trade for BTC. I don't think as a currency it will be as stable or long-lasting as Bitcoin. Could be wrong though.

Personally I'm using burnside's litecoin mining pool http://ltc.kattare.com/Pretty good instructions on how to set it up and everything, and with my GPU's hashrate I'm making more bitcoins... by mining litecoins. Counter-intuitive but the exchange rate is pretty good right now. Of course you're taking a gamble, you never know if litecoins will crash or dramatically decrease in value, but you take the same risk with BTC.

PLEASE goodsir!, You will NOT regret using CGminer!!!, I procrastinated from using it for MONTHS, And to this day i regret all those days that i wasted staying with GUIminer, Trust me dude, CGminer is DEFINITLY what you want Use that, Or Since you have a 7970 Diablo Miner,
CGMiner!! CGMiner!! CGMiner!! CGMiner!!
It will pick all the settings and do everything for you once you get it running!, Seriously! Use it!
This. I would also recommend using CGEasy, don't have a link but I'm sure it's easy to find. Automatically sets up settings based on your input (your GPU, desired workload, aggressiveness, etc.) and very useful for those of us less versed in editing batch files

That might be a bit low. At your lower end, a 300 mhash/s graphics card costs just under $150 let alone an entire rig.
butterfly labs 5gh/s for 274 But butterfly labs rigs are going to ship in a year at best, and it's a scam at worst. You can't compare butterfly labs pricing to anything else on the market because there's simply no comparison save for Avalon chips. But you sound like you want to buy a premade rig.

I can confirm it's legit. Emailed back and forth for an hour and agreed on a price, even took Dwolla for bitcoins, the extra funds in there were a headache for me trying to get them moved around. Thanks for the quick service battmann!

I think most people realize this after a few days of using these free BTC sites. I know I did myself. It's hard to grasp how small a micro bitcoin is until you realize that these sites don't give you 1/10th of that.
The goal is to get people interested in bitcoin, and find alternative ways to get them. I know it piqued my interest when I saw some of these sites. Besides, if they gave out more, they'd go broke pretty quick, as we found out with BitCrate.

Crosspost from newbie... didn't realize I was so close to breaking out of new user prison when I originally posted this I'm considering buying 10 Avalon ASICs chips. Each one, according to the seller, has a hash rate of 282 MH/s, for a total of 2.83 GH/s. This is drastically more than my current feeble hash rate, mainly considering that my computer was made for gaming and I haven't optimized it for bitcoin mining, which I've really just started to get in to. So if someone could explain to me what process I would have to go through upon buying these chips in order to have a functioning mining rig, and whether or not it's worth it, that would be super helpful. Keep in mind I have a very limited knowledge on how to build PC's as my computer was prebuilt, though I have some friends that can help me with setting it up.

Well I'm not able to post in mining yet, so I guess I'll ask this here.
