Right now I will do a 50% approach: 1K$ buy 2x1070ti 1K$ buy BTC/ETH/LTC/XMR...

. . This year I am no longer focusing on what gear to use. But how to expand my cheap reliable power. . .
The above caught my attention from Phil's post because as I mentioned before, 1. 2018 and beyond will be very bullish for cryptos and a clear turning point - with wall street money coming into cryptos, expect BTC price to be above $25k very soon. Therefore, you need to be invested in BTC when that peak happens, and justify why we are in mining. 2. GPU vs ASICs - this game is impossible for us miners to chase - this game is well above us sad to say and in the hands of manufacturers like Bitmain, Canaan, Baikals, Halongs etc. I buy ASICs when they are on sales ... 3. The critical success factor for profitable mining is POWER - access to cheap power. If you are home mining and limited in scale, then may not too big of a problem. But if you operate a mining farm or have a few dozen rigs or ASICs, you need to have affordable power... like hydro, geo-thermal, solar etc. 4. Crypto trading - for those who are strictly only mining - start a investment portfolio (in exchange or Trezor/Ledger). This is good strategy to diversify your mining operations (ie. some coins to sell and some to keep short & long term). My group has some similar views like Phils -- the gear doesnt matter anymore - otherwise we will going in circles. My group decided to focus on "coins/algos" to leverage, in particular Scrypt and SHA256 -- we believe these 2 algos has best bet in the short and long term. Using pools like zpool, Nicehash, esp. MPH, Prohashing enables us to use whatever gear we have and get coins that we want to accumulate (BTC, ETH & LTC). My group's mining operations now spans 3 countries (to leverage cheapest power on earth) and I have access to all of them via MRR, VPNs and Teamviewer. Its been a great ride so far, and we are far from giving up mining for good. I've been using ZPOOL / ahashpool to get payouts in btc. How do you determine what coin you're cards are best suited to mine? Do you look at the actual 24 hours column at all? edit: pasted wrong picture first time. Just use Nemosminer or Sniffdog and let the sw do the switching for you.

With no new cards announced by AMD, Nvidia has little to gain releasing a very powerful product...expect that the 2070 will do something like +15/20% hash at the same power consuption of a 1070.

Here's some data from my rig (Equihash):
MSI Aero GeForce GTX 1070 -> 58C Sol/s: 424.0 Sol/W: 3.82 Avg: 438.5 EVGA Hybrid GTX 1070 -> 34C Sol/s: 440.3 Sol/W: 3.95 Avg: 436.5 ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti mini -> 48C Sol/s: 489.3 Sol/W: 3.92 Avg: 489.3
I like the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti mini for the efficency, but it cost at least 100euro more than the MSI.

Hi Vosk, I've tried the 8a minining bios for the gigabyte Z270P-d3, but after the installation the bios does not recognize the SATA hdd anymore, so I could only boot an usb live version of ubuntu ...very strange.

You need at least 3-4K to make a decent profit (lowering your ROI).

I don't remember the last time I've been in a three months vacation...
Anyway I always shut everything down when I'm away for more than two days: better safe than sorry.

Boring way: unplug all the card except one disable onboard video card on bios disable integrated sound on bios set PCIe Gen2 on bios new installation of win10 install nvidia driver shutdown install card#2 boot win shutdown install card#3 boot win shutdown etc.. Edit: or just use linux

600$ for 3 month warranty and no resell value? The actual ROI mining Zcash would be about 220 days...

How many sols does a GTX 1070 and a RX 580 do on the Windows version?
GTX 1070 Win10 @+0 cc /+800 mem Average speed (5s): 14444.7 Sol/s Average speed (5s): 14136.5 Sol/s Average speed (5s): 14530.8 Sol/s Average speed (5s): 14531.3 Sol/s Edit: CPU i5 3570k 78% utilization with two instances Edit2: stable for 15-20 min then crashed

Tested under nvOc 19.4
Card: MSI Gtx 1070
Settings: INDIVIDUAL_POWERLIMIT_0=110 __CORE_OVERCLOCK_0=150 MEMORY_OVERCLOCK_0=800
Hash: 14.5Kh/s
Good job;D

there a asic gonna be in market for skein.
The skein sp-mod #2 does 1GHASH on the 1080ti. So you need 5 1080ti's to match the speed of the baikal giant x10 . The 1080ti's used to cost around $700 each. total: $3500. The baikal giant X10 cost $8,900.0 And the Asic resell value is zero.

I have been mining ARGO too, but using Windows and using either the KlausT ccminer version 8.19 or the ccminer by Alexis78 (cuda9) in skein algo with intensity set to 28 (1060s) or 29 (1070s and 1080s).
I can't be bothered to look up all the individual hash-rates (because I would have to shut the miners down and remove the -q flag) but I have 2 x 1080, 4 x 1070 & 4 x 1060 6GB and I am doing around 5Gh/s. All cards powerlimited to 75%, core +100 memory -500
I hope this helps, but it would mean you would have to install windows, find those miners (the KlausT one is easy - he has an often updated github) and install MSI Afterburner.
I tried nvoc and it's great for common mainstream coins but if you want to mine obscure/new stuff like ARGO it can be easier in windows because you have more obvious and understandable options, just because windows is built for stupid average people and linux is built by/for software developers.
<edit> or maybe when you said ARG you meant argentum, but that is a scrypt coin so when you said ARG I thought you must mean ARGO since it is skein.
<edit2> at those clock/power/memory settings and for all those cards + 2 motherboards, etc I consume about 1400-1500 watts.
Yes the coin is ARGO I've noticed that with linux I can push the core up past 150 without suffering any instability; the downside is that linux is less user friendly.

I have a mixed mining rig (2x1080ti, 2x1070ti, 2x1070) and now I am mining ARG with it. I've tried different power/cc/mem settings and for now these are the best I can get (it seems that the skein algo is does not care about the memory clock): OS: nvoc 19.4 Miner: ANXccminer Intensity: 25 Memory Clock for all the cards: -700 Model | MSI GTX 1080 Ti Aero | Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Windforce OC | Zotac GTX 1070 Ti Mini | MSI GTX 1070 ITX | Core Clock | 132 | 154 | 165 | 132 | Power Limit(W) | 155 | 170 | 125 | 105 | TDP% | 62 | 68 | 69 | 70 | Temperature | 66 | 50 | 50 | 58 | MH/s | 795 | 788 | 570 | 460 | Efficency(MH/W) | 5.3 | 4.7 | 4.7 | 4.6 | The MSI 1080 ti Aero is the winner regarding the hash/power consuption ratio, but it runs hot as hell (+15 degress than the Gigabyte 1080ti) and the fan is really noisy at more than 60%. Did someone has better results in term of efficency? Edit: fixed the formatting

I've started mining to cover the cost of a 1080ti...then became addicted: it's fun and the community is great.

Guys do you know best driver for 1080ti i can get 670-685 sol/s with latest driver but downgrading to geforce 388.71 whql driver and i can get almost 710-720 sol/s but i heard there are some other 1080ti miner could get almost 800 sol/s in dmts miner.. As of now its stable at 720 sol/s do you have any suggestion to increase the hashrate?
I bought this card of almost $1k plus and looks like the roi takes longer than rx 570.. if we bought it for cheaper price. .
Try to rise the core clock +50/+100/+150...

750W power supply used for How many 1070 GPU works
What brand/type of PSU? With Platinum/Gold 80+ you should be ok with 4 x 1070 @ 60% power.
