81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WARNING!! BEWARE S11 SCAM Email!! on: June 11, 2018, 08:45:01 AM
Scammers use data from the shipping addresses. I conclude this from the fact that they use my friend's name when greeting me in email.  Grin

With BM i use a shipping address to my friend's location, for some reason.  So scammers don't have access to the inner BM database, where my real name is mentioned.

The attachement just gave you the Crypto payment bar codes. Yeah......79 Ths with 1400 Watts. LMAO!! The sad thing is....as absurd as that claim is, the profitability of those metrics is only $24.00 a day with .10 per KWH. Which means......that.....when the REAL new S11 or whatever they name it comes out, it will be well inside of that. I doubt that from 16nm to 7nm will get more than 30 THs at 1400 watts. Bottom line.....even the NEW technology will NOT be very exciting. Pretty depressing.
New bitcoin miner from Japan company GMO which is on 7nm tech process, and it produces only 24Th/s with nearly 2000 Watts consumption - which is about 15% more efficient that S9.    So yes, the NEW technology will NOT be very exciting.

New scam tactics.

These pest never die...  Shocked

Lol. Mining itself is pretty garbage now. ROI isn't as good as before.

I turned mine off last month as it is getting way too hot here. Will revisit in a few months. I also received that S11 Scam email, anyone know how they got all of our information? It was actually extremely legitimate looking as it was in the same format Bitmain usually sends them. Looks like it was worth it for them as they've already made 2 BTC
Some people say Bitmain has sold our contact information to the scammers, which i personally don't believe in  Angry      More possible is that some of BM employeers has sold it.

Here is a discussion on bitcointalk about this scam :

Anybody knows how do scammers achieve sending email from Bitmain domain?

85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WARNING!! BEWARE S11 SCAM Email!! on: June 10, 2018, 08:24:07 PM
And bitmain know the data was compromised since the first day and still no official statement.
Bitmain sent emails a few days ago to his customers telling about this:

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: June 10, 2018, 08:19:20 PM

They steal your mining rigs and offer $1 a WTT token refund.
I doubt you will receive anything after sending your WTT tokens first.

It's not quite fair to say they steal the rigs, but you have the right of course.  They just don't deploy the rigs due to costruction delays, but you can always ask them to send the rigs elsewhere - to your home for example.

Pangborn Update from GW - 8 June 2018

 - Nepel Electric along with our staff was onsite this week to ensure that all aspects of our testing will pass without question. PSE(Puget Sound Energy) moved our testing and rescheduled for the UL inspection tentative Monday, Wednesday and Thursday(6/11, 6/13-14) and L&I will be doing their final testing on Thursday 6/14. We are working with the Sr Field Engineer at the PUD to get both an operator and a mobile substation. We have found a company that can provide a low side breaker for the mobile substation from Snohomish PUD and the Douglas county PUD has also found a few options that could possibly work for our site. We should be able to move forward with both a operator and mobile sub next week. Once approved the mobile substation can arrive within one day and the low side breakers can be onsite within 3-5 days coming from the east coast.

Beaware of S11 SCAM!!    These days many people received such email :

In attachmed "description" scammers offer :

Hash Rate: 79.5TH +-5%
Power Consumption: 1400w using Bitmain APW3 1600W
 for $2300

and ask for BTC?LTC payments
By the way,  BTC address they put on email - already received more than 2 bitcoins (!)   Shocked

Be very cautious.

Time for the S11+mini!!

maybe .

I really hope they go lower watts with it.

I have space I do not have a ton of cheap power available

I would like to use a piece of gear that does 800 watts and mines 12000 th

that would be 0.0667 watts a gh

most likely it will use 1300 watts and do 18th which is  0.0722 watts a gh.

the t1 does 14.2 th at 1300 watts which is 0.0915 watts

DO NOT FALL FOR IT. All purchases are done at Bitmain website and this is not. All emails from bitmain are from " webmaster@bitmaintech" not nrply@bitmaintech.com.
Wow, just got same email - but from info@am-airbrush-design.de and with 79 Th (not 74 )   Cheesy

Email looks quite convincing though...   It is not mentioned on Bitmai web site.    Here was attached description to email :

91  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 08, 2018, 01:16:55 PM
1.4KW is already difficult in that case size, without adding half again to it. Especially since all evidence points to smaller nodes having more issues with heat density in the dies, so the chips probably can't be allowed to run continuously at 120C die temperatures without a high risk of roasting before the machine's expected end of viability.

GMO designed the machine in Japan, which is known for high quality. This means their rigs may outperform the china competitors in terms of quality.

Designed in Japan, produced in Taiwan

I would not be surprised if they offer 1 year warranty. This can be a big advantage.

Never.... and even when a pod finishes they simply say, "this pod is not suitable for your hardware" it's a complete rip off Angry

Hello

No exact dates are available to us to provide to you for reasons set forth in updates.  Power coming on is not at our discretion, this is a municipality that controls the power coming online and our updates and information provided to you are only as good as what is conveyed to us. Targeted dates have been changed with us several times. We have reported current information at any given time based on the facts. We choose to be transparent about the evolving landscape of where power build out and deployment is at and understand the frustration with moving targeted dates.

I can assure you that all current energy and focus for the whole of Giga Watt is on the deployment of miners.  We have several pods deployed and ready and are simply waiting for power connection to bring them online.
Pity, this is really a bad situation.  Their biggest fault is that they stated definite deployment terms in White Paper.  It was better to mention in every promise that they don't take responsibility for the officials' actions, so people would clearly uderstand the risks.

Im sure.

TOKENS
Each Giga Watt Token (WTT) represents the right to use the Giga Watt processing center's capacity, rent-free for 50 years, to accommodate 1 Watt's worth of mining equipment power consumption.

From the OP also the website.
Rent-free means that the token's holder does not pay a rent to GW , which varies from 5.7c to 8.4c per kW/h.   But you have to pay maintenance fee of 0.5c and electricity - which is 2.8c now - but may raise in future, if electro-generating company raises it .
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: June 06, 2018, 03:09:46 PM
Whats the new update for this project?

I don't really gets on why they are still not using all of the WTT tokens to mine on their system?

They still did not build all facilities, so many customers are still waiting for monthes for deployment of their rigs.  They promise that 100% of WTT will be used after final building in Pangborn which is currently under way, and which was expected to finish in April, then May, and now June....
95  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 06, 2018, 01:08:08 PM
Looking at the cost of operation 10% or more savings on electric is huge. Power rates do change, and that 10% could be the difference between an RoI/Profit with a longer outlook as difficulty rises. I personally do not have facilities paying $.03-$.04/kwh, in the summer time I pay a whopping $.0857/kwh. The extra efficiency looks pretty enticing to small fries like myself looking at a 2 year road map. I assume there are others out there feeling the exact same way.

We can simply use calculator to compare profitability, and can see that ROI for B2 is 100 days more than with S9i :

That is, while efficiency of B2 is 15% more than of S9i,  but high price makes it 30% less attractive for ROI.

I suggest they buy their electric 50 years upfront like us.  ;-)
Are you sure we have bought electric upfront??    I doubt GW has so much money for this purchase. Smiley  GW has an agreement with local authorities, for sure, but I have not seen they guarantee our price for future...
97  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 06, 2018, 10:20:35 AM
24TH/1950W so about 80W/TH, but the miner costs $1999 and ships by the end of October, though sales start in June. I'd still personally take the S9i at its reduced price for a much lower $/TH cost sacrificing just a bit of efficiency, but nice to see that GMO has something working out the board that beats Bitmain for now.

I would agree, because BM price is 4 times less now, for S9i  -  and  taking $100 coupon in account, which I have a few, I would better order S9s for delivery in a few weeks.

Some people just might not want to (or be able to) operate a single 2KW miner.

By the way, this miners would need a 2,200 Watt PSU - which can cost much more than Bitmain's atandart APW3++.

Does anybody know how much a good PSU of 2200 Watts costs?

JUST RELEASED !!!

GMO has just made a public presentation of their 7NM miner!

Quote
Being the first bitcoin mining device developed in Japan, the B2 is also the first miner to use 7nm semiconductor chips, enabling it to achieve performance and efficiency gains over devices that are already on the market. Bitmain’s Antminer S9 uses a 16nm chip, while Halong Mining’s DragonMint T1 features a 10nm chip produced by Samsung.

GMO believes the release of this miner is the first step in supplanting Bitmain — which currently manufacturers an estimated 80 percent of all ASIC miners — as the dominant force in the industry.

“I respect Bitmain, but we will top them,” GMO CEO Masatoshi Kumagai reportedly said.

https://www.ccn.com/gmo-unveils-japans-first-ever-bitcoin-mining-rig/

Interesting:
the B2’s 7nm chips were produced in Taiwan, most likely by TSMC, which also supplies China-based mining giant Bitmain with most of its chips.   Huh Huh
They are planning to supplant Bitmain, using the same manufacturer as Bitmain uses  Grin Grin Grin

By the way, local residents are not very happy of Bitcoin mining in their territory. They are afraid that electricity rates will go up ...

Article   Bitcoin backlash as ‘miners’ suck up electricity, stress power grids in Central Washington

"Public hearings for rural electric utilities are rarely sellout events. But the crowd that showed up in Wenatchee two weeks ago for a hearing about Bitcoin mining in Chelan County was so large that utility staff had to open a second room with a video feed for the overflow."

Pangborn June 1st update

Pangborn Development Site VI
Work continues building out the Giga Watt facilities at Pangborn
JUNE 1

Today we entered the testing phase of our site. SigmaSix was testing all breakers, transformers, and connections from the substation switchgear to each pod. The electricians were also on-site repairing all of the troubled areas that were discovered during testing, and preparing for our L&I inspection that should be happening next week.

PSE will be at Pangborn doing the UL field certification on all of the equipment deployed in the pods starting next week. All equipment including assembly of all the miners, PSU, fans, and control panels will need to be certified. At the request of the PUD we are halting assembly of the substation. This is for the event that when they take control they would like to make any changes for operating and maintaining it.

This does not however halt the progress of the mobile substation. This was approved by the PUD and we are working with Snohomish PUD on their unit that we have been looking to move to Pangborn. The Douglas County PUD has requested that they install low side breakers to the unit. Regarding the operation of the permanent substation the PUD has agreed to supervise a company or operator that is comfortable doing so. We will work with them as well as our engineering company, CTC, to select a suitable candidate for this. The remaining pieces of the H-Frame will be brought in by the PUD next week and installed. These pieces are on the lower side bringing the lines to the metering cabinet.

Giga-watt scum stole 8 of my 10 mining rigs, 10x S9 not hashing for 6 months... that's quite a lot of BTC missing in my wallet.

Still waiting for my rigs to come online.

This is also just an update... to keep things in balance Kiss

When does dupport promise to deploy your rigs?
