Oh, wow. 9x 1070 rigI'm going to wait another week and see if I can pick up some cheap equipment. As a software dev, my GPUs have a life after crypto, so there's no need for me to sell once they've reached capital recovery.

I saw a listing for a RX 470 on e-bay for $250 with zero bids and 35 minutes left. It appears unloading these GPUs is going to get a bit more tedious fairly soon.

What you have there is a cut down pre-release version of the 7950. You can enable most of the compute units with a real 7950 BIOS (since it is technically Tahiti), but it won't be able to sustain 200 sol/s before it throttles down to about 180-190 after it reaches temp.

Do these cards have [Monica] on the model #?
If so, how many compute units does OpenCL report?

I will mine even if coin to mine is slightly negative below electric cost. I won't like it but cheaper than paying coinbase fees and it's the best dollar cost average technique
No offense but that logic make no sense what so ever. At the point your electric costs exceed your mining income, you are better off just buying the coin outright than paying a premium for it. Not only do you end up paying more for the coin, but you also place unneeded wear and tear on your mining rig(s). Youve forgotten the fact that he is still mining coins and their value will usually go up over time. So he hasnt "lost" anything unless he sells for a loss... Just like the stock market. Like @Raimy said, if the rig uses up more electricity than it produces in crypto, it is literally cheaper to buy it outright. You'll end up with the same amount of coin (that you can hold) and less money comes out of your wallet up front.

I saw a GTX 1070 SC for $475 on Amazon yesterday. I was thinking of jumping on it, but figured I could wait a little longer for the market to squeeze weak hands some more.

Are any other devices on that C16 circuit? Lights? Ceiling fans? Does it share any outlets with another room?

In the US, nobody cares if your power consumption takes a spike, you just pay more for it. If the utility gets a sense that you are exceeding safety limits, they will respond. Local government officials may step in if they feel that the power is being used for illegal activity, such as, drug production.

The way I see it, people weren't buying and mining en masse before the market exploded. It will calm down once earnings fall back below the cost of electricity.
Your hobbyists will still be there, however at that point, I believe there would be better uses for their equipment rather than racking up huge electric bills on long bets.

You can only reserve assets to do one thing. What you are describing would place two orders in the market; one at 9600 and one at 10400. Both can't be fulfilled simultaneously.
As an alternative, you can use the API (if the exchange has one) to place a sell at-market order when the price hits either of those values.

Is anyone planning on using multiple power supplies for this MB? I'm debating on how I'm going to wire them up.

Is there a reason you are buying 2400 MHz DDR4 when you're CPU only supports 2133 MHz?
Probably missed this one. Didn't know CPU's had issues with Ram compatibility. Both Pentium and i5 support 2133Mhz? Anyway that's not a big fuck up. Ram will work at 2133Mhz mode then. I think the question is suggesting you could get cheaper RAM if it was 2133 instead of 2400 since 2133 is as fast as it will run anyway.

-4 in OpenCL is CL_MEM_OBJECT_ALLOCATION_FAILURE
Your graphics driver could not allocate a block large enough to hold the DAG. Windows is likely reserving some memory on one of the cards.
Edit: if you have a spare GPU or iGPU, install that and make it the primary device for your desktop and see if that helps.

Can someone confirm that this is actually a 4u rack mount case, with a cover? From what I'm seeing, it appears to be too small for the cards + power cables and power supplies? (I ordered 1 server PSU and 1 atx PSU, was assuming both would fit.
No, the motherboard is too wide to fit into a standard 19" rackmount case. I'm working on some ideas to fabricate mounts for installing it length-wise.

Just got mine.
Is there a trick to powering up the server (non ATX) power supply? Mine is completely dead. I tried a couple of different power cords, so that's not it.
By default, the MB will boot as soon as power is available. If powered down, the power switch (front panel header) will turn it back on.

Test setup: Octominer motherboard * Crucial 4GB DDR4 SODIMM * No storage. Using PXE netboot. 1x HD 7950 Monica BIOS 1 HP 656364-B21 1200W Common Slot Platinum Plus PSU breakout board VGA-plus-USB Ethernet KVM Ubuntu Server 14.04.5 LTS - Kernel 4.4.0-78 Radeon 15.12 Linux drivers Results: Hooking up the PSU was fairly straightforward. I simply connected every 6-pin plug on the motherboard to be sure it was getting enough power. I'm certain all of them were not necessary for this test, so I can try fewer connections to see where the limits are. I enabled PXE boot, and configured my PXE/DHCP server with its MAC address. Switched on power. Got 5 beeps. Did not stop it from posting, though. Linux started, and everything appears to work the first time. I am reusing a disk image from an AM3+ build. Power draw with no GPUs. * 20 Watts @ idle from the wall. * 6 Watts when the motherboard is powered down. The PSU does not turn itself off. I will experiment with this later. I will try fitting some more cards this weekend. There is roughly 50 mm between slots (PCB to PCB). So far, good stuff. https://i.imgur.com/LG7EjBQ.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/ilTWmLP.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/kVknbvq.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/B7yOGVP.png

Picked up the boards today. Starting my tests.

What's the 4-pin header right beside the SATA connector?

Have my tracking number now. Tomorrow delivery.

My order was processed and shipped, but no tracking number.
Looking at some of the other comments, I imagine the boxes will appear any day now.
Ordered Jan 30th.
Processed and shippped? Mmhm mine still says "Processing". Yes, I got a tracking number but it was an internal # and not DHL. I'm guessing it was for an intermediate carrier/tracker.
