Is the site trustworthy?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency YouTubers: Who are the shills & scammers? on: July 20, 2017, 01:03:48 PM
Recently, Louis Thomas (A CC YouTube with about 10k subs) said that there is other big CC YouTubers who are intentionally hyping bad/worthless coins.

He is currently debating whether to expose the other Youtubers.

Who do you think the YouTubers could be?

I have a few ideas, but would like a 2nd opinion.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crime & Fraud: Cryptocurrencies = Unregulated Stock Market? on: July 14, 2017, 11:26:20 AM
Yeah but even then, it would be hard to blatantly lie on a white paper.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crime & Fraud: Cryptocurrencies = Unregulated Stock Market? on: July 13, 2017, 08:27:17 PM
Key: CC = Cryptocurrency

What are people's thoughts on the potential criminal use of cryptocurrency?

(I am not talking about the anonymous spending of cryptocurrency, like buying stuff off the dark web, but more so the utilisation of the currency and market, to perform fraud.)

Technically, it isn't even a crime (Yet.)

It has come to light recently that certain CC YouTubers have been shilling CCs for a fee. E.G. they could be paid a hefty sum, to promote a worthless or shifty CC. A currency they would not promote if it wasn't in their best financial interest. This could cause in an increase in potential CC price by unsuspecting victims to invest in the promoted CC, for the big players to sell-off when at a high, for all other victims to lose a significant amount.

In stock trading, this is Fraud. The scheme is actually called a 'Pump-and-dump' scheme. This is where you promote a stock through deceit and exaggeration, the stock rises exponentially. Then the original investor in the stock, sells off their large portion of shares and all other investors take a hit.

Now, you may be thinking "If an investor doesn't do the research themselves beforehand, it is their own fault." I understand what you are saying. However, it is not just YouTubers...

The biggest people to gain from Fraud are people or even organisations with very large amounts of money to invest in already. What is stopping an equity firm from hiring a tech team to develop a cryptocurrency, giving a portion of the coins to the equity firm and then the equity firm paying for advertisers of the currency? Then to eventually sell off after the ICO? Hell, i have even seen Facebook Ads for the new amazing 'Cryptocurrency' E.G. "You seen how fast Ethereum went from $40 to $160 in just one day, invest in 'X' now and it could be the same!"

Furthermore, this is all just 1 scheme. I'm not a Stock Broker, but i do have a police-related Degree and i'm well aware of different criminal methods that could be performed with CCs. Let me tell you, there is tons of different financial strategies which could be going on, especially by big players and i imagine IS going on.

My main concern though is, WHO is doing it? Just think about it; if it's not illegal, why wouldn't the already millionaires, equity firms and banks (etc), take advantage of CCs and the volatile market. Which defeats the purpose of decentralisation.

-

Please note, this is not to discourage CC. I am a recent miner and investor of CC myself. This is just to get people's thoughts on the 'criminal' use of CC.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 LOW HASH RATE please on: July 06, 2017, 06:28:53 AM
I'm getting about 22.5 MH/s per 1060 @ only 60% TDP.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / How do i find out about new ICOs? on: July 05, 2017, 10:45:17 PM
+ where to buy them?

Surely there must be like a collated page where they all get posted or something?

(Think of other non-cryptocurrency kickstarter things.)
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Nanopool Line Chart Analysis: Does this look normal for Ethereum mining? on: July 05, 2017, 09:29:43 PM
I started mining this week using the following:

Miner: Claymore (Solo ETH)
Pool: Nanopool
Graphics Cards: 3x GTX 1060 6GB MSI Gaming X Edition
GPU software: MSI Afterburner = Undervolted @ 60% TDP (72Watts) +700MHz memory overclock.
OS: Windows 10 Pro

I am getting a stable 22.3 MH/s per card (approx). So around 67 MH/s in total. I know i may be better off mining Zcash, but i choose to mine Ethereum. I have my reasons for this.

I do have 3 more cards to add to my build, but they haven't arrived yet.

This is my Nanopool chart: (Look from 4th of July onwards.)
https://eth.nanopool.org/account/0x2ebd7c60feb6bbeac4142ec862d46a44fb68be82

As you can see, the chart shows 4 things:
A.) Calculated hashrate
B.) 2-hour SMA
C.) Accepted Shares
D.) Reported Hashrate

I'm not too sure what these^ mean. There is quite a fluctuation for A.) and also 2 drops in D.).

Now when i compare this to some of the other ETH addresses in the top 15, their charts seems more consistent with less fluctuations in all areas.
For example:
https://eth.nanopool.org/account/0x548efb023462c347992def94428a9a4565ac231a
https://eth.nanopool.org/account/0x3ed80e6274637a3cccb097e39e911a1882b03023

Granted, these are significantly higher total hash rates, but i'm querying the consistency.

So my questions are as follows:
1.) What is the difference between reported hash rate and calculated hash rate?

1a.) How do i make those two line up more like the above examples.

2.) Why do  the accepted shares have such a variation and how can i increase this or make it more consistent?

3.) Why has my reported hash rate dropped on those 2 drops? It's only for a few minutes, but time is money. + Why haven't the other stats dropped along with it?

--------
Thanks.

Please answer in as much detail as you can.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Have I killed my GTX 1060? on: July 03, 2017, 12:32:17 PM
They are 6-Pin risers. The 6-Pin has a 6-Pin to Sata adapter attached.

It is then powered by a 3-connector SATA power cable, with only 2 of the connectors being used per wore on PCI-E risers.

E.G. 6 GPUs will be used with 3 SATA power cables.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Have I killed my GTX 1060? on: July 03, 2017, 12:01:08 PM
sounds like shit risers to me

Hopefully, I'll try when I get home.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Have I killed my GTX 1060? on: July 03, 2017, 07:10:48 AM
3x GTX 1060 6GB MSI Gaming X

I was running a heavy workload on the cards for about 4 hours. (Mining using Claymore miner - no hate, lol.)

I woke up and 2 of the cards were still running like normal, however the 3rd card was showing as '0' in everything in Afterburner. 0 Voltage, 0 MHz etc.

Furthermore, the fans on this card aren't running, but it's light is on.

I have restarted PC and i get same thing and nothing changes.

Have I killed my card? If not, what can I do to resolve it?

(I last used all the cards together in sync in MSI Afterburner @ 75% TDP, +100 Core Clock, +650 Memory clock. The temperature was only at 55-60°c.)

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / List of all coins TO algorithm? on: July 02, 2017, 11:13:20 PM
E.G. on NiceHash, i see a bunch of Algorithms but would like to know which coin it is mining. (Yes i know NiceHash converts it all to BTC.)

Where can i find a list?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum + ? // What dual currency should i pick? for the Claymore miner? on: July 02, 2017, 09:18:40 PM
Nvidia 10 series cards are not as good as AMD RX 4XX/5XX cards for dual mining. I would get a couple of RX 4XX/5XX 4 GB cards instead if you want to dual mine ETH. They have a better hash rate for ETH than a 1060 as well. You can see which coin is more profitable to dual mine with the whattomine calculators.

https://whattomine.com/merged_coins/1-eth-dcr

I already have the mining rig set-up.

I just need to start mining.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ethereum + ? // What dual currency should i pick? for the Claymore miner? on: July 02, 2017, 09:06:43 PM
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Graphics Cards: 3x GTX 1060 MSI Gaming X 6GB (getting another 3 soon.)

(I don't want to go higher than 80% TDP per card.)
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's the best currency for me to mine? 6 x GTX 1060 6GB on: July 02, 2017, 08:42:19 PM
Does anyone have any ideas?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What's the best currency for me to mine? 6 x GTX 1060 6GB on: July 02, 2017, 05:02:17 PM
I just set-up my rig last night.

All cards are brand new.
All drivers have been updated. (Using GeForce experience.)

Motherboard: ASRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 (UEFI driver 1.20)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Graphics Cards: 3x GTX 1060 6GB (3 MSI Gaming X)

-------

I'm mining using NiceHash for now.

I'm getting a total hash rate of around 66Mh/s @
75% TDP, +600 memory clock, +100 core clock (per card).

I will be getting another 3 GTX 1060 6GB MSI Gaming X in the next 2-3weeks.

What would be the best currency to mine and best miner?
(I don't want to go higher than 80% TDP per card.)
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Only 3/4 Graphics Card detected: GTX 1060 RIG. on: July 02, 2017, 01:16:09 PM
Try setting the PCI-E slots to GEN 2 or GEN 1 in the Bios. Also make sure the PCI-E 4-pin power connectors are plugged in to the motherboard and see if Windows is installed in UEFI mode.

How to test whether Windows 10 was installed with UEFI?

https://superuser.com/questions/946868/how-to-test-whether-windows-10-was-installed-with-uefi

I changed to gen 2 and all 4 are now appearing. It was in Auto prior.

However, the 4th GPU is coming up with Code 43 in Device Manager. I don't understand what you mean.

I just installed Windows 10 Pro via a USB from boot and installed it on my SSD.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Code 43 in Device Manager for 4th GPU on: July 02, 2017, 01:06:55 PM
I just set-up my rig last night.

All cards are brand new.
All drivers have been updated. (Using GeForce experience.)

Motherboard: ASRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 (UEFI driver 1.20)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Graphics Cards: 4x GTX 1060 6GB (3 MSI Gaming X // 1 Inno3D Gaming OC)

-------

After finally being able to get the 4th GPU (The Inno3D Gaming OC GTX 1060) to appear in Device Manager, it appears but has a little yellow exclamation mark on it.

I click on 'Update Driver', 'Search automatically for updated driver software' and it says "The best drivers for the device are already installed."

In the device status, it says: "Windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems. (Code 43.)"
In the resources, it says: "The device isn't using any resources because it has a problem."
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Only 3/4 Graphics Card detected: GTX 1060 RIG. on: July 02, 2017, 11:18:32 AM
I just set-up my rig last night. Only 4 GPUs for now. Booted fine and installed Windows 10 Pro x64 with the cards installed.

All cards are brand new.
All drivers have been updated. (Using GeForce experience.)

-Motherboard: ASRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 (UEFI driver 1.20)
-4x GTX 1060 6GB (3 MSI Gaming X // 1 Inno3D Gaming OC)

Issue is, 3 are detected and 1 isn't. (I think it's the Inno3D one. However, it is on and fans are spinning all the time, non stop on the Inno3D 1060.)

It is only showing 3 cards in CPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience and even NiceHash.

However, it shows 4 GTX 1060 6GB in devices, but one of them is greyed out (hidden).
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this PSU config 'Safe' for mining? on: July 01, 2017, 07:30:44 AM
It will be only one rail.

E.G. 2x GTX 1060s >  2x 6+2 Pin > 1x 8 Pin into the PSU.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this PSU config 'Safe' for mining? on: July 01, 2017, 06:40:40 AM
The PSU is 1000W.

-The rig will use 76W.
-Each GPU is 120W @ max load. (But will probably be lowered to 100W for efficiency.) = 720W

= 806W
x 1.06 (to take into account wasted energy)
= 857W

PSU is 1000W. @ 857W, that's only about 86% of the PSU's load.

Plus, that is assuming I will be using the GPUs @ 100% (120W) which I won't be.
