621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forecast John McAfee $500,000 on: August 07, 2020, 12:54:12 AM
The good old days of McAfee. The days of shilling and promoting his own agenda. Now he is nothing more than a joke at this point to this community to be honest. He's pretty bold calling Bitcoin worthless after profiting from it.

He even said that he will do it at the end of 2020 (News here). lol
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 US Congressman wrote to IRS to ease tax on POS rewards on: August 06, 2020, 01:55:05 AM
That's a damn interesting letter, and I thank you for posting it here OP.

I've been interested in PoS coins for a while now, though I don't own any at the moment, and I'm kind of shocked that congressmen are actually aware of their existence,
I would be shocked too, but they could not be in the end.
Sometimes politicians give their sign over something they have no clue. Why? Because money, money can buy their signature and approval even when they dont understand it.
Thats why world is corrupted so much, because business buying way law is created and most often its bad for people.

They probably saw that POS is a hot topic right now especially ETH is going POS too with the new version 2.0.

The question is, will IRS respond to this in a positive way? If IRS somehow favor this, then wouldn't other projects respond to this? like POW projects and other algorithm asking for fewer tax too.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone seen this website before? on: August 06, 2020, 01:45:10 AM
There's a saying “If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.” Let's just mass report. Reporting this is the only thing we can do right now. Though it's pretty smart of you to research and ask first before going in to invest. That's the one thing most newbies lack in cryptocurrency space.

Bright side, matututo sila in a hard way nga lang.
625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on new ATH on: August 05, 2020, 09:57:12 AM
Will the economic fallout from covid create a perfect storm?
There was a time during the covid 19 pandemic in March 20120, the price of btc dropped abruptly from $10500 to as low as $3600. But, later, the price increase and  reached over $11000 with a very strong support. I do not see any storm coming this year again but for the price to increase, even if the increase is not abruptly.

That was when the plustoken scam dumping happened. It was probably one of the best time to buy Bitcoin when the market was in turmoil. Though the market is bullish right now, this kind of event might reverse it again now that you've mentioned it.

I'd say we'd have a place in $15,000 this year. That's the realistic price I can see as of now.
626  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [POSSIBLE SCAM]LEDU CAMPAIGN on: August 04, 2020, 07:07:26 AM
It is most likely that they aren't going to do anything about the project since looking at the above scenario, they'll scam their investors too. Murat did a good job with managing and still sending the tokens but I doubt those tokens will have value after this incident.

Supported the flag.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scam victims on: August 04, 2020, 05:56:54 AM
So basically, you are sending more money to the scammers who scammed your money but they are still demanding more and you're still sending more money to them without having a second thought on why you are sending more even though they are obviously trying to just keep it.

The best approach that you could do is to report it to the authority. Nothing else you could do there.
628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: usdt tether market cap grows from 4,6 billions to 10,800 billions from March on: July 31, 2020, 01:57:35 AM
How is it possible while USDT is still getting a lot of trusts? did you watch the market before? it has billion as a daily trade volume. I do agree it's not all backed by some parties are also being difficult to do an audit for the tether. This company is only lack of transparency.

They most likely don't have the USD to back those stablecoins but they said that they have other assets which will help back those stablecoins.

How are people trusting it? It's a known and most listed stablecoin in the market right now. It's not like it's being used to hold USD anyway, most just used it for short-term trading like changing from Bitcoin to USDT to other cryptocurrency so they wouldn't care much.
629  Other / Meta / Re: An unfair treatment of Bitcointalk moderators on: July 31, 2020, 01:17:46 AM
I'd say it's fair. A rule is a rule. You're right everyone gets a second chance but those 4 accounts are probably all the same account owner shit posting. That's 4 chances already! what are you talking about. Even if you're a copper member, you don't get special treatment here.

People who haven't earned 1 merit shouldn't be allowed to post link, that will counter somewhat.

Then they can just buy 1 merit or ask someone who they can deal with to get that merit and post shitty and scam links again. Still not going to solve the problem.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 900,000 illegal bitcoins. on: July 29, 2020, 03:01:51 AM
Point is?

Most of your paper money in your leather wallet have probably been involved in some illegal activity at one point. The only difference is bitcoin is traceable, physical fiat is not.

If you, or the government, for some reason want to trace your money, you/they should embrace bitcoin.

The point is that once this coins hit the market, it will really hit hard enough to plunge Bitcoin again. I don't know if you know this but even 2% of those coin would make a panic selling. Remember the 13,000 Bitcoin Scam? The time where Bitcoin is trading $10,000 but dived to $4,000 because of the scam, that is most likely will happen. That could potentially make another bear run for a long time.
633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Late Show with Stephen Colbert calls bitcoin a scam on: July 28, 2020, 09:30:47 AM
Nothing new here. Bitcoin's adoption is inevitable. Sooner or later, those ignorant people will most likely get educated ones a lot of people starts using Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Though this might influence many people, it's still won't affect Bitcoin that much in the long run. Just let them be. They will eventually use Bitcoin ones they know how this technology works.
634  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Battle of ONG trading competition on: July 28, 2020, 03:15:08 AM
Let's be real here.

Grin
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: .:: I have 11 ETH transactions stuck ! ::. on: July 28, 2020, 02:24:40 AM
Why is ETH transaction fee ridiculously high? Sorry about the delayed transaction OP, this is the more reason why I check ethgasstation nowadays before any ETH transaction, so that I can use adequate gas/gwei. If you manually reduce your transaction fee, the delay will be something else so its not advisable right now.

Most likely that the sender made it this way so that the transaction would fail because that is a ridiculous low amount for the current needed gas. Even using a $0.01 Gas fee would still take a lot of time to transfer. What he can do is to wait for a long time or contact the sender to increase the gas price.
636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Gas fees too high on: July 28, 2020, 12:37:28 AM
everything is now increasing, mate. Don't compare today's fees and the previous year, it should be changing.
Well, the fees of ETH are increasing, but so far, this is still low enough. However, of course, higher fees will be required if we are going to have a faster transaction to be processed. In this case, fees will depend on the speed of the transactions. But for the standard fees, yes, this is increasing but not too much for me. We cannot complain about it anymore because we only use this platform. Some factors may influence these increased fees. Well, even it is higher several times, we do not have any choice again. except changing the coin into other coins that have lower fees (if in exchange). But if in the wallet, we have no choice but only following the fee regulation.

I don't know what low means to you but sending a $10 worth of coins with a $0.50 fee is really high compared to a centralized services or other cryptocurrency which is only a cent ($0.01) and sometimes free. Though you are right that we can only wait what is going to happen.

Look at the bright sight, because of Defi hype and Ethereum 2.0, we are clearly having a blast with the price right now and it is still growing. I hope Ethereum 2.0 solve this fee problem though.
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: next target of ethereum on: July 27, 2020, 02:34:24 AM
We are currently at $320 price range and it is still going up. This might be the the even that we've been all waiting for. Though this might be a risky situation as the market rose too fast. We might see some correction soon and rise again if this hype along with the defi hype last long enough.
638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do hackers steal huge amounts of bitcoins? on: July 27, 2020, 02:06:08 AM
I was reading about Cashaa, that was hacked and 336BTC were stolen. But the hacker can't move them right? He will leave footprints. So why should hackers steal them since they can be found? For example if they want to convert them to fiat.

The only way I think you could get by from this felony is to keep them on very long term. So long that it may be forgotten. But still, it may.

maybe this is the point where most people hate banks (without much sense in my opinion) if they are convinced that the cryptocurrency system is also very broken in this part, hackers know that stealing cryptocurrencies is something much more advantageous than stealing fiat in the bank where you have security cameras and always have a witness and even if it takes many years, eventually the thief will be found, while in the case of stealing any exchange there is little and no chance of being found. That is why I believe that anyone who has money on exchanges (just like me) should not sleep soundly ... this is the great disadvantage of the decentralized world of cryptocurrencies.

But of course with KYC on all exchanges it might be possible to have a more secure system capable of finding hackers, but there are mixers that, although the intent of the mixers' creators are good (I think) help the hackers in some way and escape with stolen bitcoins

This happened because they are using centralized exchanges, it's not the disadvantage of "the decentralized world of cryptocurrencies". There's a lot of ways to secure your coins while still avoiding using this kind of services. Use decentralized exchanges, local exchanges, or exchanges with another person. Don't trust centralized exchanges as it is susceptible to hacking and you don't really own your cryptocurrency that way.

Stealing the cryptocurrency itself is next to impossible.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be the best time to invest? on: July 26, 2020, 12:53:03 PM
Prices have increased much more that what they were a month ago. It's not quite sure when we'd actually see a bull run on crypto prices. So, I'd say it would be better to wait some time and see how the prices move, Bitcoin is about to hit 10K and I'd not be buying bitcoin above $8.5K as it's already my average. Etherum too have crossed 300 hurdle and soaring. It could be a good time to make profit from your investment.

it's hard to say that. We might see Bitcoin and Ethereum moving further than $11,000 this coming months. There's so much hype going on right now in the crypto market. Defi, Eth 2.0, Bitcoin getting referred as "money", and a lot more positive news happening right now that is helping the price move up. To be honest, the market is still hard to predict.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can ICOs come back in the game? on: July 26, 2020, 06:18:53 AM
I can't even imagine ICOs coming back because it will bring back a lot of things to mind and will people still actually invest? That is, why investing in a project wherein you will keep asking the team about listing when you can invest in a project via IEO where listing is assured. Also, in IEO the exchange it is taking place on will make investors to decide if they should or not, but are all these possible with ICO? In ICO, the team can say whatever they want to make money and then do whatever they want when they have gotten the money. So in my own opinion, I do not see ICOs coming back anytime soon.

This depends actually. ICO would make a come back if it were regulated properly. As of now, anyone can make an ICO, even a high school student can and get away from it if they scam investors (assuming they get some). With licence, proof, and documents that can be checked, a lot of investors might have a change of perspective about ICO. Though to be honest, that happening is too slim to consider.
