You are right, Citronick. The mark of the mb is wrong. I used all six molex and sata and now all six slots work! But I only run 3 vegas on it. The system itself only consume 17w. Super!
nice and if you only run 3 vegas you have very good spacing. Yes spacing is more than enough. Actually before the second and third slots can be used, two vegas are on fifth and sixth slots. Even the spacing is tight, the temp of the gpu is under 50c. Two reason: 1. Vega's blower is efficient. 2. The rig is in garage and now it is kind of cold there already. One question for you though, Philipma. How did you figure out that molex is for power input. I would not dare to do that unless I am sure about it.

.....
I appreciate the info bud, just have to wait for the motherboard to ship here, says 12-20days...
I was curious did you go 8gb on the memory or less? found some 8gb sticks on newegg for around $55 and what made you switch to USB over the msata if you already had the msata drive? just curious... i only have 2 usb3 drives, so if i switch my rigs over to this board it may cause issues as usb3 drives have increased in price recently...
are you sure you are applying power to all 3 inputs and all 3 outputs? most of the pictures i seen have the outputs being used to power fans... so slightly confused.
I only use mSATA and SSDs for Windows rigs - which I have some mainly for UAT and dev stuff - they join mining in the farm when not doing testing etc. I standardized on USB3 for smOS Linux and nvOC Linux mainly since last year - I have Sandisk and Kingston USB3 8gb, 16gb and 32gb (Win10 WTG). Troubleshooting, installing and removing mSATA, SSD needs some downtime and using USBs is faster most certainly. So in summary, easy for me to manage almost 66 rigs in the GPU farm. You need the 3 molex, 3 sata plugged in to get all 6 slots to work -- the POUTS labeling is wrong. I will use this D1800 board for low power GPUs and hopefully we get hands on the 8 x slotters soon for the heavy duty rigs. Eventually -- targeting 80% riserless rigs in the farm - that's my long term goal. You are right, Citronick. The mark of the mb is wrong. I used all six molex and sata and now all six slots work! But I only run 3 vegas on it. The system itself only consume 17w. Super!

and I shorted my 6 pcie board the board takes 3 molex the board takes 3 sata the molex are a bit loose they allowed me to easily put in one molex upside down and pop goes a cap board is now dead. I am going to mail it to spotswood so he can build a case for it. maybe he can repair it . so be very careful of molex as it was too easy to put it in upside down When you say the board takes 3 molex, does that mean you need to plug in molex cable to make it work? I have the same board. The second and third slots do not work. I see the pic from manufacture saying those molex are power output. I do not know what exactly this mean but I did not plug in anything there. Is that the reason those slots do not work? Seriously? Why it is marked as pout1, pout2 or pout3? Also on Citronick's pic, he did not plug in anything in molex. Are you sure? I do not want to burn the board. yes but do not plug them in wrong or you will short the board. they are shaped to fit only one way so take your time you should get it to work.

I've recently started to CPU mine Monero using xmrig.exe (I tried to compile xmr-stak-cpu from source, but unfortunately I can't afford to quit my daytime job to fix all problems I encountered) in administrator mode on Windows 10, meaning Huge pages are activated. I have a Ryzen 1700 processor (not overclocked) that I currently get about 300 H/s from. Isn't this a bit low? I've seen people in this thread mention hash rates above 500 H/s. Is there any tweaking that I could perform to get a larger hash rate? I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm eager to learn Try this config. You should expect 590 h/s at 3.8 Ghz "cpu_thread_num" : 8, "cpu_threads_conf" :[ { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 2 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 4 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 6 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 8 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 10 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 12 }, { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 14 }, ],

@citronick, is there any menu with you Onda D1800 mb? Mine came without it and now the second and third pci-e slots just do not work. Any idea?
I started working on it last night - just back from my overseas travels. In BIOS, enable 4G support. In smOS... PCI slot 1 doesn't seem to work - it could be because I am using P106 to test. However in Windows 10, all slots are working except for slot 1 - my guess is that its expecting a normal GPU with video-out - will test this shortly. Will post updates today. I hope Phil got his package soon too. Thanks for the prompt response. I will check bios later. But I really suspect that this is the mb quality control issue...

This is just surprisingly strange (in good way ), but I have no idea what is going on. So on my test rig, there is only 4gb memory and I can only reach 1300 h/s on my vega 56. Today I tested it on another box and it reached 1800 h/s and I was very happy. But I cannot let it running long on this box coz it is just so noisy so I put it back to the old rig. After setting up wattman and starting the runner, I pressed h to see the hashrate. It is 1900 h/s and it is stable! I did not change anything! Still this rig has only 4g memory. Anyone can explain this? Thanks. Monitor attached to the GPU both times? Vega has this quirk that when monitor is attached it works faster I used iGpu from cpu all the time so I do not think it is the monitor.

check wire temp with ir thermometer, if below 45c no prob amd more power consumption than Nvidia, undervolt amd using msi ab
Thanks for your reply. it is more than 45c for sure. Maybe I should change a place to put the rig. About the rig power consumption, I tried to undervolt and I do use msi ab. But once I use lower settings, the hashrate go down deeply like from 27 to 25 so I do not want to do it. I just want to know if this kind of power usage is normal.

Hi there,
So here are some issues with my rig. I got 2x 570 and 4x 480 on my rig using Calymore dual mining. The cpu is 1700x running at 3.8 for XMR.
I noticed that the power plug of the power strip is kind of hot. Not sure about the actual temp but it is hot. Is this a problem?
Also, the power comsumption reading from the wall is like 1120w. My another rig which has similar config except 5x 1070 only consume 820w on the wall. All the amd cards consume around 100w reading from afterburner. Is this normal or i need to do something about it.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I didn't quite understand what to do. I delete the VEGA driver with the DDU, afterwards I leave 1 or more cards connected? which bios exactly do you mean, the final version or the beta? I got the board yesterday and can't get more than one to work. Have also tried the latest BIOS and Beta BIOS with 4G decoding etc. but nothing works.
I also made your IOMMU settings, even without success.
Please ask for help:)
Use DDU to unistall the Vega drivers. Leave them installed in the motherboard. Then try reinstalling.
I actually prefer the next to last BIOS. There are issues with the latest X350 Gaming Carbon Pro/X350 Gaming Pro bios.
Start from the state where you windows can boot up with most cards. Try to add one by one. Leave one card and one card only on the primary pci-e slot on the mb (generally this will make sure windows can boot). check the pci-e riser. Keep trying. As I said, Windows sometimes is stubborn. It took me hours to make it work finally.

Try to increase your Virtual memory size in windows settings. Are you using blockchain drivers? As for the brand - Vega cards are all reference now (except for asus strix crap) and are made in one factory I think. So choose with better warranty and customer service brand. Or simply the one you can get cheap ))
Thanks rednoW. I have increase the virtual memory to 25G and blockchain beta is used. did not see any difference. I am using MSI now coz it has 3 year warranty and $50 less than other brand (xfx, powercolor or gigabyte only offer one or two year warrany but price is $50 or 100 more, which is weird). Are they the same?

So I followed the instruction of Hellae (thanks!) but my vega 56 only get 1200h/s. Here is the screen shot. https://imgur.com/a/Mtful "gpu_threads_conf" : [ { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false }, { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1600, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false }, ],
I got only one card, win 10 64 pro. but my cpu is weak, j1800 and only 4GB ram. I do not have hbcc slider but i can enable or disable it and it is set to something like 9600MB. Can anyone help? BTW, which brand did you guys buy? I am thinking of buying more but not sure which one I should buy. I am using a msi vega 56 now. Any better choices? Thanks.

BTW, I was able to compile dev-branch of xmr-stak-amd on windows ... they have one-letter bug in config that makes an error ... but I found it ))
You do not mean the platform which is supposed to be 0, do you?

Can I use mixed amd and nvidia cards in one rig using smOS?

Citronik,
What are those breakout boards on your 2400W PSU? I've never seen those before. They must be awkward with the 90 degree placement of the connector to the PCIe plugs.
@MingMining - did you power the molex also to make the board work? I have the first board with smOS Linux with 2 cards working last week, with molex and sata powered. I need to populate all 6 with P106 and experiment - will find time to try that this week. My boys did the 2 rigs in a rack setup - previous pix, and waiting for me to power up and install. No I did not use molex to power my two cards testing. In fact, in my previous test, molex did not seem to work (that was in windows). In smOS, the first slot works right away so I did not bother to test moldex. But I only tested with two cards on first and fourth slot. The second slot did not seem to work either. Let me know how you finally make 6 work.

Hi all,
I was hoping one of you could help me troubleshoot my r5 1600, as you all seem to be getting 400 H/s stock. Meanwhile, here's how my CPU's been performing:
1 thread: 60 H/s (max values) 2 threads: 110 H/s 3 threads: 160 H/s 4 threads: 240 H/s 5 threads: 180 H/s 6 threads: 140 H/s 7 threads: 100 H/s
I can't understand why my chip's hashrate is peaking at 4 threads when you all are reporting optimal rates at 6 threads.
I've gone through all the necessary steps (locked paging file), and I'm really stuck here.
Claymore's miner yields similar results, although I have only tried with 3 and 4 threads.
The only thing I can think of is that stak's miner could have been updated since the pre-compiled version that I downloaded, although I doubt that's the cause for this behavior.
Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!
Post your config file, please.
