Hi guys, I have a maybe stupid question. Suppose you are buying 10 of them, then it is $590. Generally you can buy two rx 570 for this price at newegg and ROI is like 6 month if you mine eth or zcash. However, if you use this stick to mine litecoin, the ROI will be like one year. Did I miss anything?

I wanted to build a rig with with Ryzen 5 1600 as the CPU mines cryptonote (XMR) at around 350H/s. ASRock AB350 with 6 PCIe looked to me a good option for the price, but I can't run more than two GPUs. Worse, when one M.2 SSD is installed, only one GPU works. Anyone tried this motherboard?

That is exactly what i did except I used a ssd. Everything works fine with 6 gpu. The initial set up is tedious though you need to add card one by one so a lot of reboots. After that, you should be fine.

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Added Two more cards, now rig is unstable on: August 02, 2017, 04:45:53 AM
So im running Claymore 9.8 (same problem with 9.7) on a Win 10 system. Previously i had two asus gtx 1060 6gb dual series, which ran fine on mem +750 and driver version 372.70. Just received two more of the same type of card and now the rig keeps BSOD with "video_internal_scheduler_error" even though ive turned the mem clock down to +700. When it restarts and claymore opens it wont run unless i manually set the mem clock to +500 first then up it. Once it is running its only running for a day and the same thing happens.

Even they are the same model, one of them may not be able to handle the overclock. YOu need to set overclock to each of them and find out how high they survive.

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining rig keeps dying. Too hot? on: August 02, 2017, 04:36:41 AM
It may well be a sick card. well it is not sick, it just cannot handle your overclock. Even they are all the same model, one of them may not be able to survive the memory overclock. Actually this is what happened to my rig.

1. read the log and locate which gpu has hanged first or error first. say cpu 0.
2. what I did is pressing 0 to disable GPU 0 in the rig.
3. watch if your rig is stable. If it is, congratulation, you found the sick card.
4. Try one by one till you find it.

or you can just disable watchdog in your bat file, set -wd 0. In this case, the sick card will stop but your other cards keep working. Now touch the card and feel the temp you will know which one is bad.

If you cannot find a card to blame, then you may need to reinstall the windows and update to the latest.

Hope this helps.

I'm having a strange issue. I've read the last several pages as well as searched via Google for several hours. No dice. Here's the issue:
I have 2 different GTX 970 rigs with 5 cards each. Testing them on ETH only mode. Before overclocking or anything, they all get about 18 Mh/s each. Here's the odd thing: 1 out of the 5 cards will be at around 11 MH/s.... i.e. GPU1. All speeds look equal in Afterburner. I'll restart the computer, and GPU1 will now be at 18 MH/s. But GPU2 will be down to 11. I'll restart the computer again. GPU0 will now be down to 11, all others at 18. So, it's not an issue with a card, because the dropped one changes on each restart. I have the same problem on both rigs. 1 card of 5 is always at 11-12 while the other 4 are at 18. One is an MSI board, the other is a brand new Biostar board. All have powered risers. I'll unplug one GPU, and just try with 4 GPU's. 1 card will be at 11-12, and other 3 at 18 MH/s. Restart, the slow card will be back at 18 but another card will be down to 11-12. It's driving me nuts! I downloaded the miner from Mega. One computer is running 9.7, the other 9.8. Same problem. So, it's not any particular GPU, not the miner version, not the motherboard, not the number of GPU's attached. What the heck is the problem? Somebody hacked into the miner?

What is your psu? It may cause issue like this if it is not powerful enough.

Hi guys

I'm trying to mine with a single gtx 1070 but i get the following error:

I have the latest drivers for (384.94) and I'm on windows 10 (up to date).

The thing is, when i first got this card i couldn't mine but then i simply disabled my antivirus (and uninstalled it later) and it worked. But then for some random reasons I decided to install my antivirus again and i couldn't mine once more. But this time disabling it or uninstalling it did not work.

Since it seems like a problem of authorization I disabled the firewall and windows defender but still this does not help. I tried to uninstall all nvidia drivers with DDU and install them, and to install the cuda toolkit but I had no success.

I then tried to clean install windows 10 but i get the same issue.

I hope you can help me.

In windows defender, add your miner folder to exclusion list.

Right now it's only solo minable with cpu, right? Tbh I like cryptonight platform much more than bitcoin codebase.

Right now i am using xmr-stak-cpu-notl with no problem.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.7 (Windows/Linux) on: July 31, 2017, 12:54:04 AM
I am not sure but when I turn on watchdog, the rig will freeze whenever it detects any issue. It tries to restart but fails and it just hangs there. If i turn off the watchdog, the rig is pretty stable. Maybe it is just coincident? Or there is a bug in watchdog?

I think Claymore's watchdog pretty much suicides the rig on most hangs - mainly because if the thread gets stuck on one GPU, the rest will continue mining as long as each GPU has its own thread. Attempting to restart the application is going to cause it to hang...

Makes sense. If watchdog can gracefully end all other thread it can then restart successfully...

You can find this file in Claymore's miner folder and copy it to your xmr miner folder.

Hi Can you please share your config file/batch file? thank you

This is my xmr-miner.bat:

set xmrAddress=your adress

set poolPassword=x

set poolUrl=stratum+tcp://45.76.251.222:3333

set bFactor=8

set bSleep=100

xmrMiner_0.2.1.exe --url=%poolUrl% -u %xmrAddress% -p %poolPassword% --bfactor=%bFactor% --bsleep=%bSleep%

Pool works!

xmr-stak-cpu-notls

458 h/s on 1600x with 6 thread
600 h/s on 1700x with 8 thread at 4gz

the issue is, when first started, run for a few mins, all of sudden all messages are like Result rejected by pool. have to restart the miner. now it looks fine.

Pool stat not align with miner hash rate

Any word on the x370?

I bought MSI x370 and successfully detected four GPUs but can't get the 5th to light up.

Curious if there is something I can do in the BIOS to get it to work or if this board might only do four and that's that.

Thanks.

MSI X370 will do 6 Nvidia GPUs, but it is difficult depending on your version of Windows 10 (build version).  My OEM Win10 disks were build 1507 (I think).  Lots of errors, restarts, was driving me nuts.  And that is after I installed the AMD newest chipset drivers.  What's more frustrating, is that Windows Update just crashes and fails over and over with this build version - just doesn't work with Ryzen.

Download Microsoft's "Media Creation Tool," download to ISO and make a USB boot stick (search for "Rufus bootable .ISO"), do not use the Microsoft product, just download the .iso image and use Rufus to make your Windows boot USB device.  This will take a long while to download and run through updates.  Then reinstall Windows10 using the USB stick/key only this time it will be build 1511.  Start the build with one Nvidia card in the main slot.  When you get to build 1511 (and before you install lots of software), make sure the one card is recognized and that you can mine.  You need to then launch DDU and remove all drivers and shut down, not restart.  When shut down, plug in all your other cards.  Reboot.  If Windows doesn't install the drivers, do so manually under Device Driver.

If you errors on startup, hit F11 to get to the Boot order menu and click on wherever you just installed the new version of Windows.

Beware the Microsoft Update Assistant (Blue icon) that comes with build 1511.  Takes forever and it *may* update you to the 16xx build, and if you run it again, it *may* update you to 170x build.  But you'll probably tear your hair out first.

Go to "PC Settings" > System > About: to see what build you have.  If you have build 1507 or lower, that might explain all your problems.  Update to at least 1511.

Disable Hi-Def audio in Bios.  Disable Serial/Parallel I/O.

I think, more than anything else people mention, when it comes to Ryzen and 5/6 GPUs, it is a Windows issue.

These are some very useful information and I totally agree with the windows issue conclusion! Thanks for sharing.

Even at 400 hash you get a CPU that pays for itself within 6 months at current prices. Since you need a CPU to mine with your GPUs anyways why not get one that pays for itself, brings in a little profit after that and also has good resale value?

For those that have an 8 core Ryzen and have not been able to reach 600+ hashrate on XMR, you will need to enable large page files (requires Windows Pro). Once I did that I went from ~450-470 to 600-630 hashrate on my R7 1700X @ 4.0 ghz.  It's a nice boost in AEON too (the most profitable CPU coin right now).

Could you kindly point me the direction to mine with one rig using both cpu and gpu? I cannot find any useful information...TIA
