I agree with Majormax The problem of cbx is the lack of active user.
A solution could be to distribute the 124k for free.
Not to favor whales.
Distribute fairly 10,000 CBX per month for one year to all those who win at least one block in staking.

Automated blockchain bootstrap loader very good idea for newbie. Smiley thanks alex

Yes, that is an idea.

Even better to try and distribute to non-holders, or other developers. Thinking about those who might be active in the community rather than passive holders.

Giving to ppl who have no real interest, they will dump the coin like a hot potatoes! For btc

Then maybe my first thought is correct. Dump onto exchange at a very low price . First take out every bid, then put a wall in at a low level.

If the coin is dead anyway, kill the price quickly, then see if there are any takers. Make a very low base, then the only way is up.  Trying to support price always leads to a slow decline (applies to all commodities)

New GameCredits blog post just went live, 'THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORPORATE CRYPTO AND CORPORATE CRYPTO (TM)'

Read the full post here: http://gamecredits.com/2016/12/28/the-difference-between-corporate-crypto-and-corporate-crypto-tm/

This time we talk about one of the distinct differences between GameCredits and other cryptocurrency projects.

This is a very good piece, briefly and clearly getting to the point.

The issue of different factions vying for their own interests within a decentralised structure cannot really be solved in any traditional corporate way. Not only is the mining and network support decentralised, but governance , financial incentives and management are, as well.

The way forward will come about through organic evolution, and cannot be planned at the outset.

Need more developers to make it forward. Wink

The more the better. Every input is valued.

If you can strike a deal with the receiver then all well and good, but most likely scenario is these 124k coins will crash CBX into oblivion. That's the issue, whoever buys those coins on the cheap can dump anytime, so who would buy at market prices today? If you buy cheap then you become the dumping whale of 2017, just when the dumping whale of 2016 emptied his bags. This is an existential crisis, 124k coins dumped cheaply kills CBX, so lets avoid death.

It seems the real problem is that there are no willing buyers. The market price is what somebody is willing to pay.

Maybe the best alternative is for the 124k CBX to be added to the offer side of Cryptopia, and left there : at least it will then be out in the open. There is a fair chance that someone might wish to take a stake at some point.

I'm not against doing that, I just think it's highly likely that amount of downward pressure would kill all remaining community interest. Like most here, I'm following +30 projects, and each one competes for my finite resorces of attention. There's nothing special about CBX that guarantees its continued existence from here on, its not bitcoin that has billions invested in it by millions of people. CBX has a long and proud history for sure, going back to mid 2013, but these 124k coins can easily kill it, and most of us walk away disappointed, but we still walk away. I'm a CBX supporter, but I'm already under water now, and I wouldn't buy any of these coins at any price. That's why I say the best option is start a new coin minus these toxic 124k coins.

If given a choice between a kick in the balls, and a slap in the face ... I vote for the slap

Well, thats understandable, and is the usual reason for the death of most alts. If a coin does not have a large number of active community members, supporting with funds as well, plus a number of good active developers, it will not survive.

I committed funds to CBX, but I would be surprised if it does survive beyond the next year. So I guess I won't be buying any more.

As regards market cap, once that gets below the top couple of hundred currencies, only a very big innovation, and a lot of active people can save a crypto currency. I dont think the 124k coins make any difference to that. Having them on offer at a cheap price may have an outside chance of attracting a new active investor with an idea, who wants a big cheap stake in a long established coin.

"Destroy the stolen CBX on a new fork/coin"

The 124,000 CBX have never been stolen. They were CLAIMED by the Cryptsy receiver to distribute it's value to victims of other coins theft. Making them worthless is basically robbing the victims of that crime from some kind of repayment, even though it may not be so much.

"and boost the PoSP reward for the next year so that all the lost CBX are regenerated and distributed through staking - after which point reward will be reset to current level"

With this CBX parts from it's fundamentals to have the network increase max 2% per year. First it will decrease by 12% and next it will distribute most of that 12% to the largest current holders, which are the holders of the ICO that was done to collect them. Very smart, but fair it is not. Since only a part of the community is staking you can expect the staking rewards to reach between 30% and 50%, dilluting the CBX of the people that are not staking for whatever reason.

The only way to keep CBX original, solid and more fair is to buyout the CBX that the receiver currently holds. Then nothing needs to be forked, no namechange, no 12% extra staking (which will keep pushing the price down too anyways). Why are people voting for the worst, I don't get it.

Agreed. The CBX blockchain has not been compromised, it is working correctly. The receiver has a responsibilty to obtain a value for the CBX it holds, and I am sure it would look at appropriate bids. Those bids would be far below current market trading values of course, bearing in mind the quantity and illiquidity of the market.

So, just to get things started, I would be prepared to buy all the 124k at 25% of current market value.

At 2.8c  current value , 25% comes to  around 1 BTC.

Any other offers ?

It would be interesting to see some screenshots of gameplay etc,  showing how wallet transactions and alternate payments work, as and when these are up and running (always understanding that there will be provisional and beta implementations of course)
We've created several videos of just that, here's the latest that was uploaded just a couple days ago, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK7S59NAo0Q&t=5s

OK...Thanks.. Good stuff.

For those of us that have seen this play out multiple times, its as obvious as the nose on your face.

On top of all this January could be a very bullish month of news for GAME.

Lets see how much you're complaining about price in 90 days.

Yes, agreed, but with respect, its better not to encourage impatient buyers at all. Alternatively, just let us make sure all speculators who want quick profits are presented with large losses asap. Get them out. That is the logic behind a price shake out.

I am hoping for a fall to 7k sats. Good news and progress on infrastructure are never related to price progress in the same timeframe.

Price discussion posts drain energy from the thread, and untimately serve no purpose.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ GameCredits - The future of in-game monetization ★★★ on: December 23, 2016, 03:39:36 PM
Honestly, its not about exchange rates, amount of exchanges, trading volume.....there are plenty of coins to "bet" on but smart money goes into projects that are more objective based and dont look at those things.  Those aspects are organic and cant be manufactured.  If they are its a death note.....my 2 cents
you can not just exclude exchange rates and volume from the equation, they are big indicators of demand.

Volume is important. Rate also is healthier without large swings. ..but they are only a part of the story.

There is good volume in Game, and still room for it to fall a lot without negating the positive scenario.
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ GameCredits - The future of in-game monetization ★★★ on: December 23, 2016, 03:22:54 PM

15,6 k sat is not that far from 11k and btc is just starting its rally....I felt like jack at first..... but now with all this never ending drop of all crypto since 5 week and game just seem to be starting to follow them... To the bottom...

I really really like and trust this project btw, would never be able to sell al my game without regret....

I just tought that the new all time high we saw would be ..... I little more high lol ...kinda regret not have flipping my game to buy lower... And with massive pussycat movement, I feel 11k, even 8k is possible....

Very sad when we look at all the good and news game done in the last semester...

...But the chart tells me a this is triple top pattern breakout, 3 time ath resistance, then a drop below the lower resistance (16k is way over below), and an increase in volume in the downspike...With the btc hype...this is not sounding like the uptrend is about to resume at all, just hope I'm wrong

As I said before, falling price is not a bad thing. The uptrend has completed for now (IMO). This is just a normal downtrend.

There was a lot of trade around 11k, so I think it's going to revisit that a few times in next few months. If all projects still making good progress, it would be a good level to buy.

There is really strong support at 5k to 7k. Only if that breaks would price be bad news.
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ GameCredits - The future of in-game monetization ★★★ on: December 22, 2016, 11:30:32 PM
Nearly all Cryptocurrency projects raise expectations high. It is a natural instinct in business. However , I believe it is the cause of many problems.

There will always be setbacks of course, but a high level of speculative interest brings in early money, which nearly always destabilizes (and even attacks) the project when unrealistic expectations are not met (and speculators always have unrealistic expectations). I have been involved with dozens of AltCoins over several years and have come to the opinion that it is better to dampen speculation as much as possible, whilst continuing to work diligently on real infrastructure. That can be most effectively done by dashing profit expectations in the short to medium term. Sounds contrary, I guess, because some trading is needed for distribution. It is a balance.

From what i can see , those involved with Game have a good balanced view, and are making real progress. The best course for the price of GameCredits would be stability, a trading range,  for a couple of years.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ GameCredits - The future of in-game monetization ★★★ on: December 22, 2016, 10:52:46 AM
to me it is just a good reason to buy Game now, since Bitcoin in a couple of days are going back below 800$ for sure

The peak has already passed, and now Game is in a downtrend. It has good future prospects, but could fall another 50% in the next few months. That is not a bad thing, as speculators should be shaken out.

As long as development continues, and there is more adoption, price is not so important right now.

I am looking to buy some more around 11k sats  (10c)
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ GameCredits - The future of in-game monetization ★★★ on: December 11, 2016, 10:16:11 AM
I was just wondering about other use cases of GameCredits. Not like in the usual manner when money goes from players to game developers for some extra in-game features. But instead players could compete for GameCredits against other players? Like for example there could be paid matches and free matches for a game. In a paid match people would have to buy-in to compete against each other and the prize pool would then be awarded for winners while developers would take a small fee. Think of a poker tournament. What do you think?

That sounds like a great idea

i think the real adoption hinderance as of now is, player required to first buy bitcoin and then to buy GAME rather than simply buying GAME with paypal or credit card. I know developers said they would be intergrating this but if adoption is your goal, IMO this should be first priority.
Although i like your idea of distributing GAME for free matches. Free GAME (dust amount) for players to play around would be good too.

That has been the real stumbling block stopping adoption for many alts in the past.  A seamless exchange from simple mass access payment methods has a number of hurdles which are not easy to overcome.

Good questions and even better replies! Nicely done Jack. The hype is starting to build up now as we are only 2 days away from the Fragoria event!

Looking forward to everything that will happen these coming days, as plenty of others probably are too.

Will you have continued updates throughout the event, and will they appear on all of your communication platforms? Smiley
I, along with the rest of the team, will be working to give you updates and transparency the whole way through. You can look for those in real time on twitter and slack, as well as here, and our various other social media.

We obviously won't send out every little thing that is changing, but everything the community deserves/needs to know will be shared as soon as possible!

Yeah I Don't expect updates every other second, you have enough on your plates! Will be nice to read through though. For those of us who can't actually be there Smiley. This is a real physical event, right? Or have I misunderstood it all.. haha.

I enjoy the jump in price btw. Crazy ride from 21 to 36 the other day. I'll still be in though, for a long time! Cheesy
This is 100% a physical event. On December 7th our new payment gateway which has been in development for months will be released. Now of course this is just the beginning, and this will be the slowest time. That means that we might have some options unavailable, and will be fine tuning any bugs/problems that come up. Nevertheless, our API is launching in a large video game, and that alone is an achievement.

As for the price, remember that this is cryptocurrency! I'm sure all of you are familiar with the "sell the news" phenomenon. What goes up, will eventually come down (even if I expect we'll be going up a lot more down the road). I just want to prepare everyone for any likely outcomes Smiley Watch the market, do your research, and don't get stuck either without a bag to hold (because you sold too soon and couldn't get back in), or crushed expectations because of any sort of dump.

That being said, we have an incredible road ahead of us filled with continuous growth and innovation. We at GameCredits can't wait to share our achievements with you!

Wise words regarding price. Yes,  a 'sell on the news' price reaction would be expected shortly.  Possibly the best course would be for the price to remain relatively steady (in a range) over the next few months, for new gamers' confidence in the exchange value.  The effect on gamers behaviour of value changes is hard to predict at this stage.

The key price level will be the next low point reached after the next sell off.  A period of stability would then be healthy. It will be interesting to see the response of gamers : I wouldn't expect to see much over the next few months, but, like mining and all adoption, this is a slow-burn process.

All,

Am nearing completion of the difficult 'back-end' stuff so thought i'd revisit the UI. Thoughts?

Not set in stone, however i'm rather fond of how the menus look.
Some frames and appropriate soft colours to be added.

james

IMO menus and layout are fine. Frames and colours  : as you suggest, some understated fills and outlines.

Safe to go with shades of blue : often used as the colour of money products.

So if I had 50K SUPER on Cryptsy, there's litteraly no hope for me to retrieve them?  Roll Eyes

Just asking if there was a development, I know Cryptsy is R.I.P., so I have 0,01% hope to get them back.

Probably not, but check in every now and again at forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173703.0
They report any updates to the class action lawsuit against cryptsy in-between their arguing.  Cheesy

 Cool

Yeah pretty frustrating, I was buying a lot of SUPER at the beginning of the year when it was about 100 satoshis, I don't know what's the price right now but actually I don't wanna know, I had 0,10 BTC worth of SUPER at 100 satoshis.

Very little available for sale atm. If you wanted 0.1 BTC worth you would have to pay over 1000 sats

Super is one of those coins that's never going to be sold by the admins of Cryptsy, so you can treat it as off the market.

One week's worth of voting has shown 85% in favor of burning. The giant 1.7M stake will be burned within 24 hours and will end up in this burn address: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/vrc/address.dws?VRCBURNCNhMBcyVBiYB4znn61PfYy7gVCb.htm

So the ICO raised about 3.9 million VRC and it was able to stake 1.7 million? Shocked wow. Good thing the 1.7M was burned.

Anyway, there's now only about 7 BTC on the buy side of the order book on Poloniex and about 1 BTC holding up VRM on Bittrex Cry.  So, I say burn the 3.9 million VRC raised in the ICO.  As for marketing, well when you burn the entire ICO fund it will make news and be good publicity. Wink

Interesting idea.

Trust is quick to lose, and slow to rebuild. Hopefully the long journey has been started.

* barrystyle suddenly reappears from the advanced psychiatric unit
still havent had much in the way of offers for new logo/designs for the upcoming release; or any ideas/features for the new wallet..

james

Maybe you should "barry" it and let it rest in peace. It's a dead coin face it

Opened my wallet today, first time in 2 weeks. Synched quickly and staked in 1 minute.

If it is 'dead', then the coding must be amazing, better than almost any other alts.
