1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - New coreupdate - Odarhom! on: June 27, 2020, 10:48:57 PM
I still use bitcore BTX 0.15.2.0 on an Apple Mac.
Where can I find Odarhom binaries (*.dmg) for the Mac?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 12, 2018, 06:41:35 AM
I had not experienced such horror for a very long time. How could you destroy such a promising project, who will now invest in it? Eth mocked his holders.
The horror show is only at half-time -more horror to come

I think so too. It will drop below $100 in a month or two or thereabout.

How do you estimate the $100 figure ?

Looking at the technical chart of Ethereum, I see it just recently broke the medium technical support level of $225-$200. That was a VERY bearish technical move, showing ETH will possibly test the next support level.
The rate of the price drop and the fact that there is VERY LITTLE TECHNICAL SUPPORT, tells me ETH will drop below $100 in a month or two, maybe even sooner as holders get more and more willing to sell at ever lower prices.

Some holders are in denial and will provide fuel for the next leg down once they realise the price drop wont stop before they are practically wiped out.

Charts cannot predict the future, that is pseudo science. It is like tea leaf reading. Charts are a religion and because so many people belief it in them, it works a little more than 50%.

This court ruling was actually a very good decision. Sure, ETH is suffering in the short term because of weak hands and speculators, but in the long term it will do much better. If there are fewer ICO’s of the fishy kind, these pumps with following massive dumps are a thing of the past.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Are you ready for the future? on: September 05, 2018, 07:32:26 PM
Still can't withdraw my coins from Bit-z. One month already, this sucks on many levels.

Sorry to read about your issues, what is happening to you is very bad. What is going on? Why are you unable to withdraw?

No, BTX withdrawal is suspended there. Not to mention, bit-z has the most volume of Bitcore, how sick is this - the biggest market doesn't allow withdraw, to withdraw your money you need to dump btx, withdraw btc and try on some other exchange!

Other users are saying the volumes are false and it is not the biggest BTX volume trader. They are saying you should get your funds out as soon as possible. The fact withdrawal is suspended means it is a bad sign.

Today they turned on withdrawal and I received my coins, now I feel much better when I see my BTX Smiley .

Looks like Bit-Z had quite some problems with their wallet maintenance and I suspect that it took them some time to implement the new public key format. What sucked was that their support was not helpful and their communication was disastrous.

The response from their support always was "Hello, I am very sorry, the BTX wallet has not been maintained and will not be released until the announcement is completed." But there was never a reference given to where such an announcement would be published.

But now the BTX wallet is operating normally again and I moved my coins to my cold wallet yesterday. In the past, I had many flawless executions on Bit-Z. However, this communication mess left a bad aftertaste for me and I will probably not use them again.

What exchanges to you guys trust for BTX trading?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF was over hyped! Nothing has happened! on: August 23, 2018, 07:57:42 PM
I do not understand the hype about ETFs. If BTC should become more than digital gold or store of value, then the coins need to circulate in the real economy as a means of value transfer, aka currency.

So looking from a currency perspective, it is not a bad thing that the BTC price is range bound in a narrow band over a long time. No one would use it as a means of payment if coins not spent today are much more valuable in the near future (i.e. one month time).

I think it is healthier if the price only increases a few single percentage points each year due to its deflationary construction than having it mooning and crashing in rapid succession.

BTC should be a P2P payment vehicle and not an object for speculation.

You need to enter an exception in your Mac antimalware program for the BitCore-QT.app.
Depending on how agressive your settings are, such miner warning is legit as >99% of ordinary users do not use crypto wallets on their PC/Mac.

... guys just opened my Mac wallet and instantly notice my bitcore OSX app was about 106 mb , when I opened bitcore my
AV showed this up and blocked a miner in the wallet ?

/Applications/BitCore-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS/BitCore-Qt,Quarantined,OSX_Miner.PFL,Real Time,1

!!

and also now on first try the app doesn't open ...

although reinstalling the wallet helped ...

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Are you ready for the future? on: July 07, 2018, 11:18:06 PM
Just to comfort people:

I upgraded my wallet to 0.15.1.0 and I did keep my wallet.dat
(I did not need to restore, upgrade was done using my existing wallet.dat)

As my exchange (Bit-Z) does not yet support the new public key format, I transferred some BTX from my exchange account to the old format 1xxx public key.

The expected amount (minus withdrawal fee) arrived in my QT BitCore BTX wallet Version 0.15.1.0 under the new public key format 2xxx. As verified in recent transaction list and blockchain explorer.

So for true hodlers, I see no reason why one should not upgrade to version 0.15.1.0, even if your exchange does not yet support the new address format.

Can I upgrade my wallet in the future, like 1-2 years from today?

I am a long term holder, I've been holding for over 6 months, I have not open since the day I created it and added bitcore funds to it. I only check my balance when needed via https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/ knowing it's still there  Tongue and recently I checked my converted address since the old address is empty.

Thanks all in advance  Cool

We are all mid-term holders because none of us holds BTX since more than 3 years. Many of us will eventually become long-term holders in the year 2020.

As the BTX coins are "stored" in the blockchain and not really in your wallet, my take is that you could still upgrade your wallet software in 1-2 years, as long as you have your private keys.

So make sure you have a backup of that wallet.dat on a cold store (i.e. USB stick in bank safe), encrypt your desktop wallet, and write down that wallet encryption password (also place that one in bank safe).
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Are you ready for the future? on: July 07, 2018, 08:15:38 PM
So I recognized that the blockchain explorer
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/address.dws?1xxx....
shows a zero balance on the old 1xxx address

when converting the old 1xxx address to the new BTX p2pkh address (2xxx) using the following URL
https://limxtec.github.io/btx-convert/

and then inserting that new address into the blockchain explorer, it shows the correct balance
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/address.dws?2xxx....

this is independent whether you already upgraded your wallet to the new version.

As explained on https://bitcore.cc/important-update-bitcore-public-keys/, the private key does not change, regardless of the wallet version used.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin- 8% Airdrop every week on: April 30, 2018, 11:05:48 PM
I claimed the 1:1 back in October 2017. So is it possible to claim again the very same address for the 1/2:1?
You can claim the 1/2:1 Airdrop every time when you import the private Keys (from the Addresses who you have a balance during the snapshot) in your BTX Wallet with the Console.

  • Start Bitcore QT. As soon as your wallet has been synced go to Help->Debug Window
  • Select Console
  • If your wallet is encrypted it must be unlocked first. Enter "walletpassphrase [yourpassphrase] 600" (without the "" and without [ ])
  • Now you are ready to import your private key. Enter "importprivkey [yourbitcoinprivkey]" (without the "" and without [ ]). Make sure there are no spaces in your private key.

Your wallet should now contain 1/2 the amount of Bitcore you had in at least 0.01 Bitcoin at 2nd of November 2017 at block #492820 in the Bitcoin blockchain.

Thanks for the explanation. Since I use a Trezor device, I cannot get the private key easily and would have to use a tool from GitHub to calculate my private key.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/6ugrnr/how_do_i_get_my_private_key_from_my_trezor/

I don't trust seed words to any such tools and I will therefore not claim my 1/2 : 1 match. I did not have hundreds of BTC, so I don't leave big money on the table (blockchain). I donate the non-claimed BTX to all who HODL BTX as this is my small contribution to scarcity of Bitcore.

The 1:1 claim was easier accomplished through a signed message and I was hoping that the 1/2 : 1 claim worked the same. That different method was the reason why I did not do the 2nd (50%) claim in November.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin- 8% Airdrop every week on: April 30, 2018, 05:07:07 PM

Not to mention there are still a crapload of people that have done claimed their BTX on the 1/2 to 1 redemption. Those coins are sitting on the Bitcore blockchain waiting for their owners to claim them. The 3.5 million lost BTC means half that many BTX are already lost forever. That makes the value of the remaining coins more as those are locked out of distribution forever.

@jackbox: good point and question:

I claimed the 1:1 back in October 2017. So is it possible to claim again the very same address for the 1/2:1?

When we buy from ATM machines Bitcore, where does the BTX come from ?

My guess would be Bitwala  Huh

Volume on Bit-Z died.
Just half of ETH for last 24 hours.
Can't buy anything Sad

If that condition persists also on other exchanges, then this is a clear sign that bid prices must move significantly higher to motivate semi-HODLers to sell. The next 2-3 months should see some interesting price actions. What will happen in the first few weeks of May is up to anyones guesses, but mid and longer term it does not matter what happens on the price front immediately after the last airdrop.

The problem that BTX is addressing well is mining and support of mining. Im very impressed. BTG was an total fiasco with the core team stealing coin skimming from there poolbtg. Bitcoin has a huge problem that no one is talking about and that is Bitmain dominance of the mining equipment.  It would be foolish to think that China has not forced Bitman to build in remote control backdoor in all there miners. But BTX does not have that problem as the GPU mining network is too diverse. No single point of failure on that part.

If BTG is a total fiasco and still trading at USD 88, think what BTX can achieve, a few months after the weaklings have sold their BTX after the last airdrop. It will overtake BTG by magnitudes.

People would be good by staying away from Cryptopia and Bit-z. It's always sad to miss your airdrop, don't do this to your self. BTC's reign is coming to end and holding BTX is what you want to do now.

I never had a problem with Bit-Z. I find this exchange fast and reliable.

Now I understand why Vlad2vlad has so many posts and has legendary status: all his posts here are pure BS!
Has he ever made a post that makes sense? I doubt it very much. He is an spamming annoyance and can be safely ignored.

Smiley Wink

Hello, what will be the BTX price on April 1?

No one knows for sure, but there are companies that run forecast and prediction models. Such models can give you an indication if the provide an underlying rationale for their prediction.

Here is an example:

Love this coin for airdrops Cheesy

I love this coin for TECHNOLOGY (and that is much longer term love than for airdrops)

This drop is brutal though. I bought pretty much at the peak. Around $30 each... Now it is 67% down and even with the airdrops I will not break even.

Depends on your time horizon: if you expect a big profit at the end of the airdrops in May 2018, then you might still be negative if you bought all your coins around 30$. If you did cost averaging by buying addittional coins at lover price as a leverage for the remaining airdrops it might look more positive.

If you have anyhow a time horizon of 3-4 years, then you should not worry at all at this point in time - just buy the dips and crashes and HODL.
