1  Other / Beginners & Help / okpay withdraw from gox taking forever on: May 23, 2013, 07:01:51 PM
Going on 3 days now since trying to withdraw from mtgox to okpay. Officially the longest it has ever taken to receive an okpay withdraw, even longer than when I did it during the Japanese Golden Week which was a week long national holiday in Japan.

I realize they've been swamped with withdraw requests since the news came out about the DHS seizure on Dwolla funds, but it just shouldn't take this long. Usually if it takes this long the status displays as an error which basically means gox doesn't have enough funds in their okpay account to pay the withdraw. This time it's just been stuck on "todo" for 3 days.

I can't help but wonder if they aren't sitting there sucking the juice out of everyone's usd while they still can.

For God's sake why would we want to solve greenhouse gas?
It's April 27th and we still have snow on the ground in Wisconsin!
I say we need more greenhouse gas, I'm sick of winter and snow!!!

I use okpay at the moment, I have dwolla but I'm still waiting to get verified on mtgox. I like dwolla since it's an Iowa based company and I'm an Iowa boy so I'll probably use them once my verification goes through.

The problem with delay actually doesn't lie with the payment processors at all, it lies with how soon mtgox gets around to issuing your withdraw and if they have enough funds in their account to actually pay it.

Since all I have to go on so far is withdrawing to okpay I can only give you time frames for that, but I've had withdraws go through as soon as 3 hours and as long as 3 days, there's just no way of knowing really. If you see your withdraw status move from "todo" to "error" don't freak out and think you did something wrong, it usually just means that mtgox doesn't have enough funds in their account to cover your withdraw, that's when you'll have to wait a day or three to get your money.

Right now the whole funding/withdrawing model sucks everywhere, eventually someone will get their stuff together and come up with a good instant system, but until then you'll have to deal with the delays if you want to play the game.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Three 7950's dedicated power supply wattage? on: April 27, 2013, 03:30:21 PM
When overclocked I think those cards can pull close to 300 watts each, I would go with a 1000 watt psu.

Just load up on as many radeon 7970's as you can and chain them with extenders and mine away, at least until next month when the bfl asics hit the scene in force. They'll be shipped at the end of the month, just like they were going to be shipped at the end of last month, and at the end of the month before that, all the way back to October of last year I believe lol.

VPS - $10 - $50 per month.
Domain - $10 per year

Average developer's hourly rate - $40 per hour
There is no lack of actual legit well paying developer jobs out there.

I'm a full time developer, if someone gave me this proposal I would laugh, then laugh some more, then just turn and walk away still giggling lol. So you have a vps and a domain, that entitles you to half? If you want someone to take on a project with you then you need to come to the table with some actual money in hand. It's not like you have some killer cutting edge idea that has the potential to make a ton of money, why would someone want to do all of the work and then have to settle for only half of what is most likely a non-money maker to begin with? How are you going to drive traffic to this site once it's built? Do you have a marketing budget? Probably no since you're not even willing to help pay for the work being done. Are you an seo guru? Probably not, otherwise you would know better than to throw an offer like this out into the world.

I see this crap all the time, somebody get's a hair-brained idea that they want to build a site without putting any real time or thought into the idea and having no idea of how to actually make it successful, and then throw some insulting crazy job post on a forum like this or on the freelancer sites. What you offered here is similar to saying "Hey, I have a bicycle, I'll let you ride it to work everyday for half of your pay" lol.

Nobody with any actual talent or brains is going to take you up on this offer, what you should do is Google php tutorials and start learning how to build it yourself if you really think you have a good idea. Then once you get the php and mysql down you need to start learning javascript along with jQuery and ajax, then maybe even dive into ruby on rails so you have options on how to build. Then you need to learn about seo and link building so that you can actually get traffic to your newly created site.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, it's just your offer here is not very well thought out and honestly pretty insulting.
