what trash not only did i watch the first 600 blocks instamine but ive since mined 9 blocks according to my mining software but only credited for two blocks in the wallet (no blocks werent rejected)

I feel like every single launch on this forum is almost always instamined these days.  The best practice is to make the first 100-500 blocks empty rewards, so that the first to download the program doesn't get all the reward.

I still think this can be a great coin though.  So many coins don't have empty blocks that I can't justify writing off a coin over some instamining.

Dev, as many people have pointed out, you need to fix the port number for hashbag pool.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QWT] CoinQwest ★ POW Start your mining ASAP on: July 31, 2017, 08:44:46 PM
General question: how is the gold "tied" to the coin?  It sounds like investors will hold the coins, and you will hold the gold.  But how do you show that the gold is actually backing the coins?

A good example is the Tether currency (USDT).  Tether is directly tied 1:1 to the US Dollar, and every Tether token on the network requires the organization to have a dollar in the bank.  They have a lot of transparency to show they have this money.  I can't explain it well, but each token is literally backed by a dollar.

So the question is: how will you show that QWT is actually backed by the gold, instead of just sitting in some bank account?

1. It sounds like investors will hold the coins, and you will hold the gold!

Tether holds the investors money in a bank Account as well, whats the difference?

Tether is a Coin that users have to BUY with actual money (Fiat Currency), they send funds from their bank account to the Tether bank account and BUY the coins, in this case 1 coin is backed by 1 USD, with the investors money being hold at Tethers Bank Account!!!

2. But how do you show that the gold is actually backing the coins?

We will start backing the coins from Mid 2019 onward, there is a lot of work going into what we want to do (Work in Progress)
Users that buy the coin directly from our Website will have access to it 24/7, they also can withdraw it and it will be sent to their home or office.

1.Investors who will invest in the 5,000,000 coins that are available for sell will hold the Coins which are backed by Gold, the Gold belongs to the investors not to us, we will invest the gold to generate profit on interest initially, without taking any risk.

Investors account will be displaying the gold they own by gold certificates, audit made by KPMG every quarter

Miners will make their profits in the exchange initially.

QWT will be backed by Commodity such as gold. Commodity money's value is based on the material it was manufactured with.

Tether in is back by a Fiat Currency, Fiat money, therefore, does not have intrinsic value
Changes in public confidence in a government issuing fiat money may be enough to make the fiat currency worthless.

Just wanted to note this sounds like an excellent response.  I really hope you succeed where others have failed, this could be huge.

Unless it's too late in your re-launch, I might suggest you consider newer algorithms instead of Scrypt.  People on this forum are very into algorithms like tribus and skunkhash, which leads to a lot more early mining and adoption.  Of course, Scrypt is perfectly fine if you think it's too late to change.

Check the ANN out at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2056033.0

I wanna mine it but solo mining already dead apparently.

Active development, and NovaExchange listing from votes.  Targeting a huge emerging market that really needs decentralization.

This looks like a promising project, I will eagerly await the whitepaper that is in production.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AdnCoin * ADN * X11 * NO ICO IPO OR PREMINE on: July 29, 2017, 02:13:57 PM
So you're not actually running any genome calculations on this blockchain, you're just using it to raise $100 million?  Where on earth is that money going to come from if there's no pre-mine or ICO?  Pool fees?
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTCU] LiteCoinUltra |LAUNCH NOW| 5% PREMINE ONLY| JOIN THE NEW ERA! on: July 29, 2017, 10:23:36 AM
Very intriguing concept, I think I might try to mine a little.  But I have one big concern:
The difficulty is very high from the start, and the pre-mine is very high too.  This is a worrying combination because such high difficulty means the total supply will grow very slowly.  If the total supply grows slowly, the pre-mine will be a huge % of the supply.

For example, pre-mine is 7.5 million coins.  We are currently on less than block 100 (http://litecoinultra-explorer.dyndns.org/) so lets call it 100.

In 100 blocks, you expect 90 of them to have 100 coins each, and 10 of them to have 1000 coins each (OP says regular reward is 100, and there are 10x super-rewards every 10 blocks).  This mean's we're at 19,000

So developer holds 7.5 million coins, and miners hold just 19,000 right now.

Blocktimes are 5 minutes and rewards halve at block 400.  So a rough estimate is that developers will still hold over 40% of total supply after one year.

Does anyone else think this is a problem?  We need assurances that developer won't dump.  IF we can get that kind of assurance, then having a low supply among miners could actually be a good thing.

Good morning!
Just a little confussion here.

It is maybe becouse I'm from Europe and we use "." and "," in different way !!
Superblocks are every 10000 blocks (not every 10 blocks)
Andhalving will happen at block 400000 (not at block 400)

I'll start setting up bounties today and contacting Exchanges
Abount the premining, it may look high yes, but I'm planning to use a big part of it for the yobit investbox , apart of paying bounties, airdrop, etc.
Also, exchanges fees are quite expensive now... seems everything is getting more expensive every week!!

I'm not planning any dump of course, that wont make sense. I really think and want this coin to be important and not just another shitcoin for dump.

I must say also, I wasn't expected the diff to be this high, but is not a bad thing, becouse this will make mining to be expensive and miners won't dump their coins (or they will loose money)
Anyway if Diff is getting too high (I dont think so) I can always try to make a readjustment in sources, but not planning that by now.

Will have some coffee and post bonties and other stuff later!
Thanks eveyone for interesting in this coin Smiley I think it will be good coin!

Regards
TheMiningPool

Thank you for the response.  I apologize for reading your numbers incorrectly.

I'm not saying you're going to dump, but it's still difficult to understand a premine that's such a large part of the supply for so long.  A 5% premine isn't unreasonable by itself.  A high difficulty isn't unreasonable by itself.
But the triple combination of 5% premine + 5 minute blocktimes + a low reward per block = very difficult to understand the value of mining.

The combination means this coin is in a situation where it will take almost 75,000 blocks to catch up to your premine.  At a 5 minute blocktime, that is 260 days just for the miners to earn the same amount as your pre-mine.  After 520 days you will still hold roughly 33% of the supply, minus some bounties or what you sell to other investors.

Personally, I trust that you have good intentions for the coin, and I trust you won't dump because that will hurt you long term.  At least you're not a forum newbie, and you know how pools work etc (I love launches that come with pools).  Those are all plus points.

But the minus is that I don't know how you will convince others to invest when you're sitting on such a large pile of coins relative to the supply growth over the next two years.  How can this be a decentralized currency when the dev - even with the best of intentions - is essentially controlling the supply?

Edit: I want to add that I hope no one perceives this as too negative.  This coin has a lot more going for it than a lot of the launches over the past few weeks.  I just don't think the premine/difficulty/reward combination was well-planned, but I'm eager to be proven wrong.

You don't think it's forked anymore?

http://pool.leviarcoin.org/#pool_blocks showing that this pool has mined every single block, even the ones http://xlc.my-mine.su/#pool_blocks thinks it has mined.  Can two pools mine the same block?

Also http://pool.leviarcoin.org/#payments no payouts Ayet?  Need to have frequent payouts.

Official pool in beta test
http://pool.leviarcoin.org

To successfully connect your miners use 138.68.58.151 as address instead of the name pool.leviarcoin.org

I've been mining this "official" pool for a few blocks, but "Pending Balance" stuck at 0 even though several blocks have passed on which I submitted shares.  I am doing just a small amount to test, but it is at least 2-7% of pool power, so I should see some value from the blocks that just passed.  Is this pool working correctly?

Never mind I see some pending balance now, sorry for any confusion.

355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Guptacoin - Digital India - Real Financial Freedom on: July 27, 2017, 02:01:01 PM
What is the concept of the project you are offering? Can you explain it in more detail? If your project is really interesting then i might consider it to invest in ICO you will do.

In a quick nutshell (from the white paper we are finishing up now):

Guptacoin is setup to be the first and foremost cryptocurrency dedicated to the Indian market. The goal is to enable the people of India to use Guptacoin as a token of value that is no longer controlled by a central entity.

We plan to airdrop 250 – 1,000 Guptacoins (GPT) to each citizen of India by means of SMS verification. 65% (1,300,000,000 GPT) of all coins are reserved for this.

Apart from the reserved airdrop coins we have 25% (500,000,000 GPT) reserved for the miners. The coin will be based upon 3 algorithms that are all ASIC resistant and thus environmentally friendly. The total mining time is set to 31,7 years. After that we expect the network to run on fees.

We also want to encourage people to become part of the decentralized network by setting up their own nodes for as little as $15. The more nodes we have to run the network, the more secure, stable and fast transactions take place. We want to setup a reward program to those who run nodes by offering 25 GPT per month (or the rational equality of the actual uptime). For this we have reserved 7% (140.000.000 GPT).

The remaining 3% (60,000,000 GPT) is reserved for development costs and incentives.

Technical specs:

Coin name   : Guptacoin
Ticker identifier : GPT
Coin sign :   G
Total supply : 2,000,000,000 GPT
Premine :   75% (1,500,000,000) Total

65% (1,300,000,000) Reserved airdrop
7% (140,000,000) Reserved Nodes
3% (60,000,000) Reserved development

Mining algorithms :

Qubit (CPU/GPU only)
Skein (CPU/GPU only)
Groestl (CPU/GPU only)

Block times : 20 sec
Block reward : 10 GPT
Estimated time to last block reward : 31,7 years

There are some excellent ideas here.

First, a coin dedicated to the Indian market is a huge opportunity.  I don't know enough about different cryptos to know if there are other coins targeting India (I'd be surprised if there aren't already people trying this) but India's bureaucracy is heavy.  This may be an area ripe for the kind of decentralization cryptos bring.

Second, airdroping via SMS is a great idea.  There are actually a lot of charities that seek to bring mobile technology (e.g. via mesh networks) to poor and rural areas of India, because many consider mobile technology to be the key to unlocking the potential of these areas, especially when telecom is already huge in urban India.  Any opportunity to interface with the coin via SMS will make it accessible to Indians and tie it to the existing projects that want to use phones to empower rural India.

Third, I'm a fan of ASIC resistance in general, though that's a person preference.

Any idea when you might be providing more detail?  Are we talking days?  Weeks?
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine - Cryptopia on: July 27, 2017, 01:49:39 PM
Sigt prices don't go up. The official website has not been updated yet. Embarrassed Embarrassed
The Signatum Official website will be rebuilt after the marketplace has been completed. Important links however will always be available on our ANN.

The price does not move for 4 days already

from 460 satoshi to 1500 satoshi

This is the right attitude: stop looking at the price growth short term, and look long term.

In the last 24 hours the price may not have moved much, but the market cap has grown by over 10% and now sits at $1.275 MILLION IN LESS THAN 10 DAYS SINCE LAUNCH.  I don't think enough people are appreciating how amazing that is.  DNR - a good coin, and a closely comparable one - is sitting at $300,000 market cap even though it had several weeks of head start on SIGT.  This means SIGT is a huge cut above the scrypt-algo-coin junk that is released daily.

I understand that the people complaining about the price just want to make a quick buck.  And that's okay - any new or old coin is going to have people looking for a pump n dump before they move onto the next coin, it's only natural.   But at the same time, complaining about the price on the forum doesn't accomplish anything.  If the value is growing too slowly for you, then maybe you should consider mining something else.  No one is going to read your post and suddenly increase the coin price.

I want to emphasize again: the fact that the price has been stable while supply has grown (i.e. market cap is growing) is AMAZING given the short time frame.  I'm excited to see signatum's marketplace go live, whenever that may be.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine - Cryptopia on: July 26, 2017, 04:33:34 PM
I understand a lot of people may be frustrated if they missed cashing out at 4000+ sat, but I think that's the wrong way to approach this.  At a stable 1500ish sat, this is a very successful coin (and this would be true even down to 1000 satoshis in my opinion).

SIGT has a market cap (according to coinmarketcap) of over $1 MILLION in just over a week.  That's an incredible start.  I'm not going to tell people whether to jump on a HODL train or not.  My advice is only that 1500 not be viewed as a failure just because it came down from the peak.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DivotyCoin Launched on: July 26, 2017, 05:14:08 AM
Wallet does not sync

You can addnode=divoty.org in your divotycoin.conf file. However, we're over 60,000 blocks behind.. Someone has mined this for a while before releasing it to the public. You do the math on how many coins that is.

11.5 million the wallet says

So there was an 11.5 million coin pre-mine?

Hi I'm following the instructions at https://github.com/biblepay/biblepay/blob/master/BuildBiblePay.txt . I have compiled the files (finished the "sudo make" step), but what do I do now?  I've never run a linux wallet before.  How do I run it, download blockchain, get an address, and start mining?  I'm on ubuntu.
