621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 17, 2017, 06:45:52 PM

Looks like it should work...
622  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Syan a real deal? on: October 17, 2017, 05:11:50 PM
It is kinda ridiculous that they only have that 1 working miner in a lab......

1 working unit that can't be inspected, or can't have a video taken of it running, or any other way to verify it does what it says, or that it even exists, all based on a supposed new chip which has no information on.

There's so many red flags - they could even just say what foundry they're making the chips on, show blanked out documents of the order, pictures of the chip even - nope.
623  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FOR SALE - SIDEHACK STICK] GekkoScience 2PAC - 2x BM1384 USB Stick Miner on: October 17, 2017, 04:00:50 PM
Do you happen to know if any US distributors have any in stock?

ASIC puppy has them listed, but it says 30 days for shipping.
624  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Quantum Asic miners!? on: October 17, 2017, 03:59:51 PM
SHA-256 is quantum resistant - you wouldn't get vastly better performance.
625  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S9 available again on Bitmain on: October 17, 2017, 03:19:21 PM
I don't disagree there will be a 761, just also showing they're working on an 8 also.
626  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S9 available again on Bitmain on: October 17, 2017, 01:56:43 PM
No avalon 8 yet..

Avalon 761 is next.. with 26 chips per board...  around 9TH/ miner.

just a guess Smiley

Canaan's Github says otherwise...  (see this commit: https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/cgminer-openwrt-packages/commit/6e82d900fe5f0863f19facd1af1ce704e1767c27 )
627  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Are there free miners on: October 17, 2017, 01:15:40 PM
Nothing that has any value is free in life.

Those sites that give free bitcoin for doing things are called faucets, and give you a tiny tiny bit of coin for doing things that pay them double the coins they give.
628  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 PS on: October 16, 2017, 08:04:38 PM
Yes, as long as you run it at -1 or -2 offset.

At 0, there's a chance it'll try to pull more than 1200w.
629  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CKPOOL - Open source pool/database/proxy/passthrough/library in c for Linux on: October 16, 2017, 05:36:43 PM
The documentation for the proxy says:

Note that the upstream pool needs to be a ckpool for it to scale to large hashrates

Is there any guidance for what is "large" in the hashrate? Would 50 TH/s, for example, be large?

630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 14, 2017, 06:15:40 PM
It's looks like a beast. Seems good. Smiley
Sorry, its not sufficient at all

Can anybody recommend a usb hub that will work 4 moonlanders?  (Will want to run them at full speed)

This 20 port will definitely work:

1.) Most importantly, what internet connection speed do I need? Would 200Mbit/s be enough to start with? At a very high level, how much bandwidth is needed for an average mining rig? Important note: my city is mostly Ethereum and alt-coin miners since Bitcoin ASICs are extremely expensive and hard to come by, hence mining rigs are GPU based.

200Mb downstream is fine, but you'll also want good upstream as well, especially if you'll let people remote into their machines.

Quote
2.) What special networking hardware is needed? A typical router only has 4 ethernet ports, would setting up extra ethernet switches that connect to that same router do the job or would I need to get industrial 20-40 port routers?

Since you're running this as a data center, you want to make sure that users are siloed off. That means you need a good router and networking equipment that lets segment off sections of the network. Don't cheap out here, as if you do, you could risk people seeing the setup and config of other people's networks.

3.) The miners I've talked to don't know anything about remote access since they currently mine at home, but I'd like to give my clients the most control and best service I can, and for security reasons I want to restrict access to the space as much as possible (only for moving in, moving out, or upgrading). I've seen Team Viewer mentioned here as a good solution that is also free, and I've played around with Parsec as well. Is there a better solution that I'm missing? Should I just tell everyone to setup Team Viewer accounts? Does that software require extra network features like Static IP?

If it were me, I'd segment off each hosted customer's network at the switch/router level. I'd then give them a personal VPN account that could only access their IP addresses. This way, they can VPN in and mess with their settings through SSH, AwesomeMiner, cgminer APIs, whatever as if the machines were in their home, but they couldn't access other customers.

Yo guys, what the shit happened to the blocks today? are we getting raped by luck?

The 150% luck of the day before got us all drunk, and now we're hung over with reality.
633  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: October 13, 2017, 11:33:14 PM
Does it need power to both the PCIe and the round jack, or is it an either configuration? I know I have a bunch of leftover 12v/7a gridseed bricks somewhere - seems like using an old pod brick on a new one would be fitting if it’d work.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 13, 2017, 11:03:38 PM
Hi guys,

I pre-ordered 10 Moonlander 2 units (super excited!) and I was wondering if this kind of HUB would be a good buy:
https://www.amazon.com/Sipolar-Black-Syncing-U-Disk-Duplicate/dp/B01KPNSYHW/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1507934914&sr=1-4&keywords=sipolar

Thank you in advance!

--sab

The description says it has 300mA per port. That means you won’t be able to overclock the stick much at all. You want one that gives around 2A per port.

636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 13, 2017, 05:49:51 PM
Thank You for the info - what will be the cheapest powered usb to run 4 moonlander devices?

At what speed are you looking to run them? Probably getting two of the pluggable 7 ports would work best for most people, or the superbag 7 port if you can find one in stock (amazon stopped stocked them.)
637  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB-Stick Miner GekkoScience 2Pac and Cgminer starting difficulties on: October 13, 2017, 05:39:57 PM
I always run it as an administrator. Might it be the case, that I have messed up my start mining .bat?

What's your batch file look like?
638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 13, 2017, 05:36:00 PM
So this wont work if I just plug it in to my pc's usb ports?

The USB spec limits how much power is delivered to ports. Typically, the way to get around this is to buy powered USB hubs, with provided more juice to each port.

If you just want to run them stock, you'll probably be able to run them off your PC. If you want to overclock them, a powered hub is the way to go.
639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: October 13, 2017, 05:34:35 PM
Awesome news! These will make great stocking stuffers (for myself.)
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: October 13, 2017, 03:56:17 PM

No - it has 3 regulator that limits the power to each section, so you could run at most 3 on that hub - port 1, port 3, port 6.
The USB hub thread for Sidehack's bitcoin sticks has a lot of good information on powered USB hub options.
