2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Skin in the game as a cause of value of Bitcoin on: August 28, 2019, 01:27:59 PM
I've just stumbled in a cool post in this forum's Ivory Tower which is getting close to no attention there, so I'd like to bring it to the attention of a broader public:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5174190.0

The main argument expressed there is that even more than Metcalfe's law, Skin in the Game is actually the real trigger of the resilience of value of Bitcoin and other crypto. I think this is a milestone post, anyone interested of what causes Bitcoin's value should give it a read.
3  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What is giving Bitcoin its value? The ultimate answer is: Skin in the game. on: August 28, 2019, 01:09:41 PM
I guess the reason why nobody before had pointed to skin in the game as THE main factor for any cryptocurrency with limited supply to raise in value and keep it is that the crypto world is made most by nerds who see the world according to their nerdcentric view - ie they look at algos, numbers, math, equations but they totally miss stuff like psychology, sociology, game theory etc., which are probably more effective in causing consequences in the real world.
On a side note I must point out how neither this OP post, nor the original post by Peter about Metcalfe's law seem to have raised much attention in this forum - in 2 weeks this OP has so far reached just 66 views or so - and both this OP and Peter's post basically have not been even merited or so, which is raising a few questions also on the mechanisms and values of this very forum. If such sort of milestone posts don't deserve any reads and merits, and people are not interested in "ivory tower" discussions, then what are we talking about exactly here?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ALQO] Scalable Payment Network | Swiss Fiat Exchange: Bitfineon | Liberio dApp on: February 05, 2019, 11:51:02 AM
There are some nice news/updates on the Discord channel in the announcement section for everyone who missed it.

Would be best to share them on all relevant channels and I would say that bitcointalk is part of the relevant channels!

okay. Copied the recent three announcements from Discord see below:

1. Announcement on 30.01.2019
@everyone
Update: ALQO & Bitfineon Q1 2019

I begin this announcement by thanking the ALQO community for their patience while we build out our roadmap during this bear market, a time when anxiety can run high & sentiment can seem overly negative. Many projects will not make it out of this market intact & that is simply a sad reality in an industry such as crypto. Having said that, my trip to Germany has been very productive - I've been here almost 3 weeks. If you've been active in the #general chat channel, you may have noticed several discussions which Kevin & I took part in that gave details as to the work we were focused on during my time in Germany. I believe it is easier to work intensely while being physically present with your team & that an increased sense of focus & determination is fostered by close daily interaction. That has been the case with this trip. We have focused on Bitfineon development, ALQO 2.0 codebase (named: POLARIS), business operations maintenance, & partnerships.

Many speculated the purpose of my trip was to launch Bitfineon, & while that is a plausible assumption, you can see the scope is much larger. ALQO's ecosystem is complex, & to foster long-term viability, we need a wholistic approach predicated on a unique set of features which can only be found in building a new codebase in POLARIS. Many of the unique features & services that Bitfineon will offer will make use of POLARIS, and it's simply impossible to ignore its requirement for a successful launch provided the increased scope. Originally, we believed the Bitcoin Core code, which ALQO currently is built-on, would be sufficient; it simply is not - this realization was made several months ago, and the codebase planning began in earnest. We understand the complexity of the undertaking may bring scrutiny, but I can assure you Polaris will bring much needed innovation to ALQO & further delineate our project from the myriad of alt-coins presently available.
@everyone
POLARIS will enable:

1) POLARIS will empower the Easy-ICO, STO platforms being built on Bitfineon. It will allow us to issue prebuilt smart contract-like templates (via GAVEL to allow projects to launch fully compliant & error-free smart contracts for the purpose of accepting payments for their capital raise purpose. These can then be launch directly on Bitfineon.

2) POLARIS will allow us to create feature rich connectivity between Bitfineon & Liberio, such as in-wallet trading directly from Liberio on Bitfineon via our AUCTIONS platform. Settlement of auction payments will be handled via a discreet pre-built escrow smart contract developed for POLARIS.

3) POLARIS will enable a unique feature called Minimal Viable Chain (MVC). This feature will allow us to run Liberio on platform-agnostic devices where resources are limited, eliminating the need for complete copies of the chain to be present to process transactions.

4) POLARIS' highlighted feature is the GALE protocol, which is a fundamental departure from Bitcoin's codebase & its original input-output Nakamoto record-keeping structure (UTXO). On-chain operations will no longer consist of a string of simple inputs & outputs, but of fungible, cohesive & fluid-like account balance credits.

All POLARIS' features will be detailed in the upcoming release of the POLARIS lite-paper, which will be released in the next several days.
@everyone
Bitfineon Launch

Where does the new chain development leave the release of Bitfineon? It's a valid question, since it seems that many projects are launching exchanges & claiming it to be the next best thing - we are focused on building out tech that will validate this claim. Bitfineon CANNOT simply be another exchange, there are too many. It needs to have significant product identifiers & differentiators, & we have several, one of which is NEUTRINO (our proprietary GPU based matching engine, capable 60mn-plus tx/ps). And, POLARIS will enable a whole slew of features that competitors will be unable to copy. In addition, unique products such as ARENA - a social trading HUB based on competitive gamification elements found in many eSport competition formats but applied to trading - we believe will increase user adoption & bring significant value to the Bitfineon platform. Lastly, the BETA UI is completed, & backend testing is ongoing, however we need to complete the codebase before a launch is made. It is a possibility we may open registrations for Bitfineon before the codebase is completed, but currently we're not providing a timeline for this possibility. We hope you understand, & we sincerely share in your anticipation for the release of Bitfineon.

We hope you will continue with us in this journey & are able to see the value we're determined to build with ALQO. My goal since accepting the role of CEO in July of last year was to help Kevin build a strong product-line, powered by innovation, which would make for a resilient brand in ALQO for years to come.

2. Announcement on 31.01.2019:

3. Announcement on 02.02.2019
New Codebase Info

We're happy to release further information regarding the new ALQO codebase, Polaris. This document showcases an overview of features which illustrates how ALQO will differentiate itself further and provide a growing set of use-cases to the ecosystem and crypto at-large. Please take a moment to read the document and ask questions you may have in #general.

There is a PDF linked in the Discord announcement. Do not know how to link it on bitcointalk

This is a very inspiring announcement. Such a pity the coin price is tanking.
By the way, which is currently the best and more profitable way to stake ALQO? Simple staking or masternode staking?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SingularityNET (AGI ) NEW AI PROJECT , 20x soon ? on: January 29, 2019, 02:32:32 AM
It is trading on Etherdelta too and has already gone to $1.6 from $0.6 in less than a day!
Over 10 times gains from ICO prices already.

AGI made a incredible start in Kucoin with a very nice competition and then almost died.
EtherDelta is having ultra-low volumes and it's not a measurement for anything. There you could pseudo pump every coin with just few ethers.

One has to consider that most of the people speculating in crypto have no idea about the enormous potential of an AI ecosystem in the real world. This explains why people would dump AGI tokens just because a bear market, unaware of their potential.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] SingularityNET: Decentralizing the Future of AI on: January 15, 2019, 03:14:24 PM
I have found a thread dedicated to AGI token price speculations, people interested in that aspect of the singularitynet project should probably post there:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2785626.msg28487760#msg28487760
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SingularityNET (AGI ) NEW AI PROJECT , 20x soon ? on: January 15, 2019, 03:10:51 PM
In hindsight I'd say it didn't make 20x soon. However the project is super cool and it would be nice to revive this thread so as to keep price discussions out of the ANN thread which should be reserved for more clever arguments.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 14, 2018, 02:02:33 AM
1. This link to the page which explains the new distribution is quite hidden - not on OP, not on Website, how are people supposed to find it?

https://medium.com/byteball/weekly-draw-for-the-byteball-community-f464ae731c88

2, On this page the main issue is to convince people to attest their name, as for explaining what to do to partecipate, this is all what you can find:

Quote
Add the Draw Airdrop bot from the Bot Store inside your Byteball wallet and follow the instructions. Good luck!

3. Such a pity that there are no instructions anywhere - so indeed you really need luck, but not to win, just to partecipate.
All what I could do in my wallet is to open the chat of that bot. Having zero instructions to follow I've introduced in the chat my wallet address and the only result is that an error mistake has popped up

Quote
An exception occurred: Error: [$parse:syntax] Syntax Error: Token ']' is unexpected, expecting [)] at column 47 of the expression
etc etc.

...after which the wallet has crashed.

4. Now, every time I start Draw Airdrop bot I'm immediately getting the same mistake and the wallet crashes. No way to use that bot any more.

I must say I'm impressed.
On top of that I see that people are already exploiting the rules in a disgusting way.
Who is the genius who has designed this stuff?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SONM, ELASTIC or GOLEM... Which one to choose? on: December 02, 2018, 10:39:53 PM
The summer has passed and now it would be time again to compare these three projects - which progress have they made in these past months?
I personally prefer SONM. I think that the developers are working fine and the price of this token will grow very much

No doubts, Sonm is a winner today. So many development. But I heard that they change own business model. And now marketing is the main and to find constant clients for ecosystem. But I see that Sonm can do it because they made a lot of work already

Thanks for all the feedback. So I guess I will add Somn to my portfolio.
10  Other / Archival / Re: deleted on: November 20, 2018, 08:53:05 PM
This link on the OP leads to a non exitent page:

https://www.hedera.com/token

Is there any one pager which explains how Hedera Hashgraph works, and how it achieves decentralization, since it looks like a very private enterprise?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Movement | Fully Decentralized Organization | VR DAO on: November 06, 2018, 07:08:00 PM
No is not yet on coinmarketcap, however today next exchange released i guide on how to use the exchange.

https://medium.com/nextexchange/how-to-use-next-exchange-4138401f2500

As far as i understand didn't go in release yet, as i didn't see any announcement, but i didn't try it to verify it either.
If anybody is familiar with it and can cofirm.

It's strange that it's still not on CMC after so much time. Now CMC doesn't require any more a certain volume of traffic to list coins, so perhaps it could be an indea to try to submit The Movement again to their attention.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][ICO] Persona - Your Own Digital Self on: October 23, 2018, 08:57:04 PM
Is there any ANN thread where Persona project is still discussed or should we assume the project has been abandoned?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cardano (ADA): A New Cryptocurrency and More on: September 28, 2018, 05:02:14 PM
A year ago, Cardano and its cryptocurrency, ADA, were launched and began publicly trading. Since then, our community and project has grown tremendously!

Not many mages of thread on BCT though, if this is the official ANN thread. If it is not, why is there no link to the ANN in the OP?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][PRESALE] BITIMAGE.io 🔴⚫️ NEXT-GEN DIGITAL MEDIA MARKETPLACE ⚫️🔴 on: September 28, 2018, 04:59:06 PM
Announcement

BitImage bounty campaign is now OVER.
You are all free to remove your signature and avatar.

Google Form pages will be shutted down; no new participant will be accepted in this campaign.

BitImage presale did not reach its softcap. Thus, no token at all will be generated. Thank you very much for all of your support !

Note: I am posting this announcement (and not Sylon) because he is currently not able to make any post on the forum.

For more information, please check this blog post from Sylon: https://medium.com/@Sylon/bitcointalk-14-days-ban-announcement-ab6d1929bb9f

I confirm this statement. I was banned during the last 14 days so I was not able to make any post in this thread.

I confirm that BitImage bounty campaign is now OVER. They did not reach the presale softcap.

I understand that payments for the bounty company will not be? About this project you can forget and move on!

Yes, it seems this project has been aborted not having reached teh softcap. A real pity. Seemed very cool, and it probably would have been. But people prefere to invest in shitty ICOs which then would scam them, instead of cool projects like this one.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🚀 [ANN][TWIST] TWIST : Revolutionising Blockchain Accessibility 🚀 on: September 28, 2018, 04:55:57 PM
One day we - the early adopters of Twist - will tell to our grandchildren that there has been a time when Twist was sitting on an Exchange and almost nobody was buying it - but almost nobody was selling it all the same, a clear sign that the whole of the community was already fully aware of its value, but nobody else yet was. And our grandchildren won't believe us, getting back to play ball in the gardens of the huge villas of their grandfathers, having care of course of not smashing with the ball any of the several lambos quietly parked there.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][ICO] Persona - Your Own Digital Self on: September 19, 2018, 09:03:13 AM
It seems that the team of Persona has totally abandoned their own Bounty thread, no answers at all to the community's questions...
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] XAYA 🌟True Blockchain Gaming🌟 - Public Sale 7th of September on: September 17, 2018, 02:47:05 PM
Is there a dedicated Bounty thread? I didn't see it linked on the OP and I know that there is a Bounty campaign running right now.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]⚡⚡🔐[PRiVCY]🔐⚡⚡[15th Airdrop - Starts 15th September]✅[PoW/POS]✅ on: September 14, 2018, 05:22:47 PM
While playing around with the wallet I have tried to dump a private key and then to add it to a wallet with the command importprivkey in the console, but it doesn't work - I always get a "Invalid private key (code -5)" mistake. Or otherwise "Method not found (code -32601)". This is not very reassuring. Is it a bug of the wallet? Otherwise which could be the problem? I'm using PRiVCY v. 1.2.1.0

Please stop it with all these fake discussions to bump the thread, they are making this thread unreadable...
