Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Token Swaps Kill The Idea Of Hodling
|

You are right. Token swaps can kill the value of a coin. A lot of projects did so. Some still have their tokens active on the Ethereum blockchain. And sometimes they increase the number of tokens to try to attract more investors and to make the tokens value less expensive. (For example the swap of VEN to VET for VeChain) But that's very bad for token holders as they might lose more money in the short term. And there is no guarantee that the project will become successful in the future. The announcement of the token swap to all token holders can be very difficult, as not everyone is going to subscribe to the newsletter of the project or is connected to the Telegram channel. And people should take a lot of time just to read what is happening with all the tokens they are holding. It is a real nightmare to follow each projects. And the swap can't be done automatically as the holders need a new wallet in the new blockchain. That's why holding coins on an exchange is more practical, but it is more dangerous in case of a hack or disappearance of the exchange.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member

No, i would not trust a project just because it was announced by a legendary member. The project can be a scam too. It is surely better than making an announcement with a Newbiew account. But there is no proof that the project is going to be successful or not. It is just that the team is going to pay more the person in charge for creating the project announcement.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Btc price is allready too high

if you look at the price it might be too high, but if you look at the total supply of existing coins, the current price of bitcoin is still very cheap, the price of bitcoin can be expensive when bitcoin has reached the maximum limit and it is very difficult to get bitcoin.
You should not look at the total supply, as some coins have the same total supply of coin and all the coins have been mined, but the price of a coin is less than 3 cent (for example ixcoin). The price depends on the volume of exchange. For me, the price of bitcoin is high. But for people who got it at a lesser price (or free), they would tell you that it is not expensive. It is the same thing with all things being traded.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bad projects are been dealt with by altcoin bear market

There were surely very good projects in 2017 and 2018. But because of the bear market, they are almost dead now. They have restarted to live this week. But i think altcoins season won't happen immediately. Prices are going to stabilize before the real altcoins season. But current price is still very good to buy good altcoins. The prices in USD will depend on the price of Bitcoin.

Any extension can read what you do and send on the internet. And some are used to debug a webpage... That's mean they can read all what you type and what website you are surfing on. They are all potential threat to steal your passwords, private keys and information if the developers of thoses extensions decide to recover all the datas. That's why an extension should only be activate when necessary.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are the scam projects killing entire crypto space?
|
on: September 13, 2019, 09:42:36 AM

I don't think that scam projects are killing the entire crypto space. Look at what happened in 2017. There were a lot of scams, but prices of cryptos did increase like never seen before. I don't know if there are more or less scam projects from this year or in 2017. But in 2017, there were plenty of scam projects. And some projects didn't look like scam. There is surely some scam projects this year too, but they are surely getting less money than in 2017. There is more scams when the price of cryptos increase as it attracts more scammers.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is whitepaper important in the project?
|
on: September 12, 2019, 09:25:59 AM

Yes, whitepaper is very important for a project. But they are sometimes not followed by the company who created it. And the rules can be changed after the appearance of the token or coin at the exchanges. It is important as it gives an idea what the team want to achieve, but it should not be 100 percent trusted.
