Scarcity and utility is a must in order to drive an increase in value in a market. There will be no demand if there is only scarcity and no utility, a coin will just die if it has no use at all. On the other hand, if there is utility and unlimited supply, then the demand is always neutral because the supply will always be enough for the need of the market. Another big factor is legality, the government can always impose a regulation that will greatly affect the value of a coin.

There is no point on using a historical data as a basis on predicting an emotion driven market. Like every asset market, there will always be a reason for a bull run or a bear market. You are the one who needs to make some research, to find what rives the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. For example, in 2017 many coins went up greatly, mostly because of the news. Many people wanted to invest in Bitcoin and enjoy the gains. Sometimes it is because of the upgrades in a particular token, a product that is released or some other things that may cause the demand to go up.

But the world is still on its way to the adoption of blockchain. The future value of bitcoin is not guaranteed but the adoption of blockchain technology will surely happen.

This is very sad to see. They did not anticipate that the market will go down and mining will slowly die. The PoW protocol is not economical, big blockchains like Ethereum is now migrating to PoS and it is killing the miners, this is their answer for scalability issues. I feel sad for these people who failed in their dreams, so many dollars wasted and so many time ended up in trash just to acquire those materials and it is all gone because of the market crash. I feel sorry for them. But we all have to move on, this is part of the process of blockchain/cryptocurrency adoption.
