Does R-Mode work with the ETCHASH algorithm?
yeah it does on any ethash algo. etchash is ethash variant.

0.8.6 works with the latest drivers for VII and XT series.
Very good speeds 62MH 6800XT and 86.5MH+ on VII with no memory timing changes.
Able to still use 6800XT as main display watching videos and even some games no issue.

I assume there may be a way to squeeze more out of 6xxx series in the future? Since smaller chips but uses about the same watts as the R7 but with less hash?
This isn't a problem of TRM as all software does this that I have tried.

Thanks for your work!

6800 series are more or less at peak of what they can do unless memory timing mod becomes a thing.
You should really be on linux with that VII to get 100 MHs

If I run the miner in admin for msr_tweaks I started getting "NAUGHTY3" as response.  What is this?

It means opencl.dll is in miner's run path, and it shouldn't be there.
So if you have an opencl.dll in miner folder, delete it.

Might be also that when you run it as admin the default run path is windows/system32, where this file normally resides.

wasn't in miner directory but opencl.dll is present in wndows/system32. I thought this was a normal case?

IT's normal that the file is there, but it's not normal that when you run an app as admin it uses windows/system32 as runpath, and not the app's folder.
Maybe it depends on how you run it as admin, i never had this issue when testing on various machines, but someone reported and this is how we figured out the system32 thing.

Try changing dir (cd) in .bat to miner folder before it invokes the .exe

I will see if i can do something to fix this behaviour though.

So the behavior started without any user related changes. the only thing that happened in between was Windows update.

WTF  Huh This kind of motherboard existed? I bet the power draw will be very limited compare to a full desktop for mining, can some drop the actual power draw (watts) of this awesome looking gadget? And also a link to where I can buy? This is impressive IMO
around 50watt, with 8gpus

It's around 10-12w for just the board.

To get into B mode when mining ravencoin, would you still put --eth_config=B or would it change to something else.
No you don't enter anything like --eth_config for kawpow algo.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: REBTECH 8 GPU All-in-One Mining motherboard on: March 18, 2021, 05:16:05 PM
I didn't know that such equipment existed.
But the habit of assembling farms on ordinary motherboards is very difficult to overcome.
In the event of a breakdown, the motherboard is usually damaged. The processor and memory remain working. And the motherboard has a 36 month warranty and it is possible to extend the warranty to 60 months.

But I would like to read the instructions for setting up this equipment with Hive OS.

Hive can be flashed onto usb using a flash tool like etcher. Right? It would be plug a USB drive and boot.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: REBTECH 8 GPU All-in-One Mining motherboard on: March 18, 2021, 04:40:15 AM
anyone know if there will be a bios update, so we can use nvidia?

we can use Nvidia in headless configuration. System will boot unless you've connected a display cable to the board.
I used it on a mix of AMD and Nvidia card. RTX 3000 series.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: REBTECH 8 GPU All-in-One Mining motherboard on: March 15, 2021, 04:58:16 PM
well this is was nice m.2 ssd with sodim ram + integrated cpu and small form factor same size as gpu, nice usb port riser, pretty convinience, saving lot of space

where do you buy this thing? how much?

https://shop.rebtech.ai/product/mother_board/
It costs $145+$30 DHL shipping.

Also, when I did a search they had these kind of boards since 2015. Maybe the mining boom didn't pick it up in 2017.  The APU is old.

Warranty               30 days

**nVidia video cards will only work without video output from the MB.
Mining RIG output can be seen only via SSH or from simplemining/hiveOS app.

I got this board primarily due to the form factor and low TDP value (~15W or lower)

Additionally, there is no need for pcie 1x to USB adapters.
It eliminates the need for ATX psus if all your GPUs are powered through server PSU.
Could provide better airflow and cable management especially if you've put the GPUs on a wire-shelf.
Costs the same as traditional motherboard, ram, cpu combo these days.

My testing was done on MMPOS (flashed on to a USB drive) which booted just fine out of box.
I did my Nvidia cards with display output both from video card and onboard HDMI slot. Neither method worked.

So the trick is to setup whatever BIOS parameters you'd need to utilize prior to installing any Nvidia cards
In my case there was nothing that I had to change in BIOS. I just plugged 7 AMD gpus. Verified display out from onboard HDMI port.
Turned off the system. Plugged in the Nvidia card and MMPOS just booted up fine. I SSH'd into the machine and was able to mine/configure just fine.

Conclusion
In these times when the prices of PC components are exorbitant, this board is definitely worth it. The only con I see is
the warranty of 30 days in comparison to mainstream desktop parts.

Hmm.. Ok..  So here's what I'm looking at..  Do you think I can just reset the bios to the factory settings?  Since I bought it used, not sure what may have already been done..  I'm using OverdriveNTool to for my settings...  Here's a pic of what I'm getting currently..

You need to drop core voltage and core clocks considerably. You're just wasting power at he moment. Dial down to 1250-1275 on core with voltage of 725-750mV.

Can someone help me with this.
I still mine on 4Gb GPUs and when I set --eth_epoch=374 to test I get about 10 MH/s
When I remove that and start to mine I get only 1.3 MH/s.
Why is that?
did you enable compute mode?

Hi

I`m new to mining with TRM and I want to try it.

How do I setup TRM with these options I have in phoenix miner?

I`m using 8pcs rx580 8GB cards with hynix memory and i`m getting 32mhs in phoenixminer with this setup:

-lidag 2 -tt 55 -fanmin 40 -fanmax 75 -rxboost 1 -cclock 1200 -mclock 2250 -cvddc 840 -mvddc 860 -r 1

Thank you for help!

You'd need to set the overclocking settings using an 3rd party app like overdriventool 0.2.9.  You can setup a bat file to do all the OC and run TRM then.

do you think maxout vram on mining will degrade gpu faster, all my 4gb gpus already died and 8gb gpus still running

just wondering because miner utilize all memory and gpu died faster .... Huh

won't die just caused it used all of memory available.  it might be just more stress on the memory controller or heat.

It has become complicated to adjust the software now for 1MHS! gain :/

It's not much different from earlier releases. The updates are for helping out users to understand things better.
As for the 1 MHs gain, it's significant, especially when you combine that with the power savings.

If we restart miner too soon on linux I get "Bind Address already in use" on API port for the stats.

Hello.
Any words about TRM 0.8.0.1 version?
It's been newly listed on my RaveOS miners page???

Fake or a true?!

You can "watch" for official releases from the github page.

Hi, just switched from PhoenixMiner. TRM seems much more performant on my Radeon VII's so kudos!

A small feature request: a way to limit the size of the logfile (and when the size limit is reached overwrite old entries like a circular buffer).

Cheers!

This is in works.  Also, here's what I use on Radeon VII's

1540 core clocks 995 Mhz on memory 850mV - 84 MHs

How did you arrive at the conclusion it's not thermal throttling?
Cause the core clock drops to 930 mhz as soon as the memory is above +400 . Card temp hovers around 45-50c.

When a card thermal throttles it at least gets high enough to produce heat , my trio x does not even achieve that.

I experienced today my friend xc3 ultra thermal throttling and its not at all how my card behaves . His card hit 99mhs and stayed there for 5 min before throttling and crumbling down to 85 mh while temps were reaching 70C.

Pretty sure its a power limit issue . Some have fixed that by flashing the bios with a different brand bios with higher power limit .
No it's not. You can confirm if it's throttling or not in gpu-z perfcap reason.
The temps that you see are core temperature and ethash doesn't pound much on the core but is hard on memory and GDDR6X runs really hot. Nvidia has the memory temperature monitoring enabled but haven't exposed it to users.  Most likely your card is throttling itself.  Boost the fan speeds up with a custom fan curve or like other person mentioned; point a fan at back of the card.
