Miner : cannot connect to the pool  (error -1)
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XDAG] Dagger - new cryptocurrency on: January 14, 2018, 12:21:18 AM
Can we do a voting for gpu algorithm? I would vote equihash.

Not subject of change.

I dont like the idea to switch to GPU mining... that would (once again) strip out a lot of people from gaining access to the project. Currently its very easy to get people in xdag cause everything is just a simple proggie, no bloat.
For me sticking to CPU is the right way...

I agree. There are people at the community who aren't equipped with gpu's and who are participating a lot, like designing stuff, managing discord, etc. And more useful people might come, coz all you need is your regular computer.

We will have GPU miner really soon. Experienced coders can code a miner fast. GPU miner = better decentralization because CPU mining is abused by botnet miners and AWS stolen credits...

it's GPU mining which is abused, you can rent a shittone of rigs at nicehash etc.

I agree...as was stated earlier, the fact that this coin can be mined on any pc keeps a lot of people involved in the project....the minute the gpu mining starts, the community is going to shrink rapidly....maybe in the future, but its too early now

cpu botnet will do more damage than gpu miners once the XDAG will get enough exposure. You only can rent rigs on nicehash if algo/miner is added there.

There is nothing to stop the hackers from explointing the gpus of their botnets.

Sure more people that are already in crypto will have gpus for mining.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 13, 2018, 01:41:46 AM
Anyone know if I link my BTC wallets with my Byteball wallet right now, will this set me up for the next distribution or do I need to wait for the announcement?

You will be set up.

Does it matter if i wait a little longer?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency on: January 09, 2018, 03:26:34 PM
Following your project almost since it was first posted. I'm looking forward to the development.

You should definitely setup a community forum.

I curios about what distribution methods you will choose.

7  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I stop Buying BTC? on: September 21, 2017, 04:32:41 PM
CHina china china.

China is very important to the bitcoin price.

Chinese rich need a way to get their cash out of the country. More then other people or that's what the media tells us.
If that is true than any disturbance the Chinese face when trying to buy bitcoin will reflect negatively in the bitcoin price.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Maybe governments can stop bitcoin after all on: September 21, 2017, 04:24:37 PM
I don't see how anything can stop bitcoin at this point. Big money is getting into it now and that same money is mixed up in governments. I see bitcoin being co-opted. Its too big at this point. Cool

Weal there is always the risk of a populist/extremist to rise. And if the price drops enough then it can make others sell in panic.

I think you should take a look at node.js ... there are applications build like that ... as an example .. popcorn time .. you can package the "website" as a standalone desktop application , but i'm not sure that is what you want.

I'm more scared about USA still having Nukes. USA is the only one that used them.
13  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitrustica - The new virtual democratic country that governs bitcoin on: December 16, 2011, 12:31:36 AM
So you (bitrusticans) claim some kind of right to govern bitcoin? And if you claim it ? How will you enforce it?
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Seriously, though, how would a libertarian society address global warming? on: December 16, 2011, 12:26:34 AM
There's an old truth saying that the longer you wait the more expensive and hard things will be to change.
Ironic, since the truth is the reverse.

Wouldn't it have been great if we'd done that? Invested in electric cars, and nuclear? Then we would probably have an efficient electric car today, and knowledge about nuclear power unknown to us. Perhaps we would use thorium reactors? Perhaps something better?
But that's not what would have happened. We'd have built dozens more crappy reactors like the ones at Fukushima. And the resources devoted to electric cars wouldn't have gone to developing the more sophisticated computers and basic research that is making *good* electric cars possible.

The reason we can design such great nuclear reactors and electric cars today is not because of all the research into electric cars and nuclear reactors we've done. It's because we have (or at least *had*) a prosperous economy with good basic research, so we can do *everything* better.

When these things will really work, the profit motive will direct money into them. If you have to push to get money into them, it's strong evidence you're trying to do it wrong. You don't know if solar is right. You don't know if hydrogen is right. You don't know if thorium is right. Central planning will always tend to move resources to less productive uses because the information to make the right decisions simply does not exist without an open market.

I'm in total agreement with you about the population thing though. But I have one more thought about that. How do we make sure that the potential Einsteins/Beethovens are able to reach their full potential? How do we equalize the chance everyone gets when starting out their lives?
We don't want to equalize the chances. If your children get an equal chance regardless of what you do, why bother to do much for them? If you want excellence, you have to try as hard as you can *NOT* to do anything that tends to even things out.

I totally agree. Great response.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mother of 15 Kids: “Somebody needs to pay for all my children." on: December 02, 2011, 10:23:32 PM
Regarding the "children have potential" argument - what about the kids with little chance of significant contribution, like those born with severe mental disabilities?

This should be about children's rights, not expected futures. Children have enough to deal with without feeling indebted to society for existing.

Children are humans. They are not different. And they are not in dept to anyone , and none owes  them nothing.
That means we should help all children but not forced to.

I generally agree. The area where I think we may differ is whether or not taking away the child's right to move freely by privatizing land justifies reimbursement.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen's_dividend

You guys sensationalize "X is theft, Y is SLAVERY" all the time, and then justify stealing from every child born too late to claim scarce resources.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Property_is_theft!

So yeah, we all do owe something to children. They are entitled to their share of this planet we all got for free.
We got nothing for free . our ancestors fought for supremacy. They were lucky to be given intelligence. Unlike other life forms.

The children received life for free. That doesn't mean they owe something to their parents, the parents should feel in dept to the child because it's their fault the child exists  but if he doesn't ... maybe you should take him but how could you tell if he wants to come with you or not? If you can't, convince the parents to give him away, if they don't want to maybe you should do something .but let me out of it.

If they want property they can inherit it or buy it or fight for it just like we all did. Or maybe you want to give some of your property for free.

Yes property is theft  just as much as eating any life form is murder. So maybe you should stop murdering. I know i won't.

Land was not privatized until after agriculture, before then it was free.

Asking me to unilaterally give away my land (if I had any) is just as nonsensical as asking rich supporters of income taxes to just give away their earnings - you're asking people to cooperate on a prisoner's dilemma instead of fixing the system.

And I am fighting for it, in part by helping this movement. When the world uses cryptocurrency, land taxes will be among the few that still work.

So you are proposing communism right? Or more exactly anarchism? we all are equally wealthy even if some are imbeciles and other are quite bright . you are proposing the we can't individually own anything just as a community? or what exactly do you propose?
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I don't feel like working anymore. on: December 02, 2011, 10:04:27 PM

I, personally would rather pick and choose who I paid (much like I do when shipping goods) but outside of satisfying personal preference, I don't think there would be a large difference in most people's wealth.

That's like saying that if a woman is raped or she falls in love and has consensual sex, there's no difference in how pregnant she'll get.

Wheal she is pregnant regardless of the way she got there. You can't be half pregnant.

The difference is what preceded the sexual act which preceded the pregnancy . Physical  Violence.

Those that come after Violence is irrelevant at least to me. It's not worst to be raped than being forced to sign something or to take a pill .

You really need to get out more.  There is the world of difference between forcing a child to take an aspirin and raping him.

No it ain't you forced him to something he didn't wanted. Maybe your child gets some neat complication when he gets an vaccine . I would love to see your face when you will explain to him why you forced him to take it if you ever have the chance to do it.
I'm guessing you don't have children. Raise a pair and then we'll talk.

You are right i don't have children but i was close to being raped when i was in the fifth grade ... luckily i escaped unharmed by threatening to scream and taking a knife and the guy was only slightly older than me 3 or 4 years . But i don't consider that if he did rape me he would of done something worse than forcing me to eat or do something that i didn't want. You initialize force someone should kill you instantly preferably the victim.
I do have two nephews tho . And i love even if their not my own.

Let me ask you this ? If your boy was 21? And he was GAY and he did sex with men ? would that be wrong with you ?The sex part is irrelevant. The violence is what sets apart sex from rape. Or are you saying that if someone forced your kids eat shit they haven't done such a bad thing as a rape? Or i don't know what else someone can force someone else to do.

Quote
The guy thinks that forcing a child to take its medicine is the same as raping a child.

Are you sure you want him to reproduce?  And if you are, are you sure children will be safe in his care?
Fuck you and your filthy mom please show me where i wrote child before the reply to you? Don't put words in my mouth!

19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mother of 15 Kids: “Somebody needs to pay for all my children." on: December 02, 2011, 06:51:48 PM
...snip...
You are saying that random strangers should be able to take kids from people's homes on their own say so.  And this improves on what we have now how?

Yes because the system can adapt, fail and improve.

On the first day that its OK for random strangers to take kids on their own say so, a lot of paedophiles will be exhausted.  So many kids and so little Viagra.  Of course you are Ok with this as it allows the system to fail and improve.

Are you OK with it? NO? Then stop them. Or you don't want to take that responsibility ?
