1  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Portal 1 Only .125 BTC! on: June 21, 2011, 04:07:44 AM
Not to mention it was free for a month.
2  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Selling: Steam account 68 Games 55 BTC link inside (added verify pics) on: June 20, 2011, 06:16:17 PM
and yet no one has made an offer. Its called the art of the sale. I would like what I asked for it. I know that isn't entirely possible but some people do impulse buy and you cant ignore that mentality, especially with the amount of people who have BTC from the pre-spike days. Any one who is truly interested will make an offer they feel is fair; and if I believe that offer is likewise i'll take it.

You have to remember that just like lowballing somebody can turn them sour on a transaction, so can asking way too much.

A better way to do this thread would be to put your account in that "steam calculator" site and link it.  That way people can see the "value" of the account.  For example, if I wanted to sell mine it might go something like this.

"$1100 value for only $499.99.  Why spend months hoping and begging for a sale when you can now own all your favorites for 60% off?

http://www.steamcalculator.com/id/tito13kfm

Act now and I'll throw in a copy of Portal 2 at no charge!

Respond within the next 24 hours and I'll slash the price to only $399.99.  That's a savings of $700 from retail :O "

Let's break this down.  I bought nearly all of these games on sale and only spent about $300 total acquiring them.  Adding a copy of Portal 2 would sweeten the pot, and I'd still come out ahead.  There is a reason that sales and marketing degrees exist.  It's the same reason that every single department store holds a 50% off mattress sale nearly every single week.  People like to see value.  Offering 100 games for $400 sounds like a ripoff.  Offering $1100 worth of games, plus a bonus AAA title for 70% off retail sounds amazing.

Edit:  Also highlighting the big names works great too.  Steam account containing Portal, Half Life 2, and Oblivion!  Damn, I should have finished out my marketing degree instead of this worthless CE degree.

Well considering the games that are worth while you can buy in total for less than $200, no one WANTS to make him an offer.  Not to mention that we'd have to use a different Steam account, which would be a pain since most PC players already have a Steam account.

I'm assuming you're not a native English speaker, so I'll give you a hint.  It's "accepts," not "except."
5  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buy a real Silver Coin from Midas Bitcoin on: May 31, 2011, 11:27:06 AM
Why is it nearly double the price of silver?
6  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: Need an XFX 5850 fan on: May 30, 2011, 02:38:05 AM
Just pick up an extra fan, take out the old one and place it underneath the card.. As long as you have the space.
7  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: S> Steam Games on: May 29, 2011, 09:27:19 PM
These expire? I thought that was the promotion period of them giving these away  Angry

What would be the point of telling someone who has recieved one of these when they would stop giving them away.

Selling 2 used 5850s that I've been mining with for about 2 or 3 weeks.  One runs stable at 900 core on stock volts, one around 850 or so on stocks.  (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=7171.0).

Price:  $145/ea + shipping or 20BTC/ea + shipping

Includes everything that was originally in the box (including DVI to VGA adapters, one including the dummy VGA trick)

No problem, and thanks for the first donation!

You need to trick Windows into thinking that you have a monitor plugged into your other card.  Windows requires at least one display to be plugged into a card before it turns on/activates itself.  You can solve this by plugging in a monitor, starting GUIMiner and start mining, then unplugging the monitor, or just create a dummy VGA plug, which does the same thing, except you don't have to keep unplugging monitors. 12  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Laptop: Compaq Presario 700 on: May 20, 2011, 02:28:16 AM
I don't mind about selling it (like usual), it's just that it would be nice to get rid of, but it doesn't bother me Tongue
13  Economy / Marketplace / Re: IRC scammer scottlad on: May 20, 2011, 02:27:16 AM
I harnessed him, threatened him, and even told him I'd get the FBI on him (lol), and he finally just gave up and gave me the money.  He has a horrible WoT rating, so no one should've been doing business with him anyways.
14  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Laptop: Compaq Presario 700 on: May 20, 2011, 02:20:23 AM
I have a Compaq Presario 700 that I'm looking to sell.  Great condition, just no use for it.

http://pcworld.about.net/news/Jan162002id79725.htm

It's a pretty old laptop, so it's not too fast, but it's alright for general use.  I'm hoping to score a few BTC off of it (minimum 10, buyer pays shipping).  So please, contact/post away!

How do you OC more than one GPU with TriXX?  That's not in Xfire
16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why are 5850 so rare? on: May 18, 2011, 11:28:04 PM
Sold out within a matter of days since people found out about their hashes.
17  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: Looking for vintage laptops for BTC on: May 18, 2011, 06:21:56 PM
As far as vintage laptops go, a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX is the oldest I go.

It was bought for my grandmother around 2 decades ago, but she rarely used it.  So it's almost brand new, except for any dust that wasn't cleaned off, or the issues that happen over time.

The brightness adjuster is a bit wonky, and the battery is dead, but those are the only problems I've seen with it.

18  Bitcoin / Mining / GPU's Can't Stop Mining? on: May 18, 2011, 05:50:34 PM
I have 2 5850s, and if I try to stop a miner to change settings or test a new mining program, my computer just crashes.

The settings I use for my dedicated-mining GPU is -v -w128 -f1, could there be an issue with the card?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Another 0/unconfirmed x 7 days on: May 17, 2011, 12:00:56 AM
Try the -rescan command, and if that doesn't work..

Try this, backup your wallet.dat, and delete everything in that same folder, and then copy back the wallet.dat (or just delete everything except wallet.dat..

And start up Bitcoin again and allow all of the blocks to reconfirm themselves (will take several hours)
20  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5850 @ 340Mhash/s on: May 16, 2011, 11:58:23 PM
Sonata could you tell what configuration of PC do you have? motherboard, CPU, Ram, etc.

Can I connect ASUS HD5850 to any kind of PCI-E? (PCI-E x 1, PCI-E x 4, PCI-E x 16)?

Can I connect ASUS HD5850 to PCI (not PCI-E)?

And 3rd question is it possible (has it sense) to connect 4 HD5850 to one motherboard (ASROCK K10N78D)?

Best regards,
M!

Gigabyte 790X-UD4P
Phenom II X4 920
4GB DDR2 800
1080w PSU (Room for upgrading, and unsure of brand)

a) Yes, there's extenders you can buy, which also allow the ability to connect your cards to 1x ports.  Mining required little bandwidth, so you don't need x16.
b) Unsure about this,  I know there are PCI to PCI-E cards, but they usually cost more than they're worth.
c) Since you have 4x PCI-E slots, you /should/ be able to connect 4 HD5850 (with extenders and a nice place for each of them..
