Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where To Buy Coins

GDAX, Bitfinex, Bitstamp, Cryptopay, Cex, are a few example but it depends on what payment method are you planning to use. Coinbase purchases are by credit cards, right? I think Bitstamp can be used to buy using a card.
Thanks, i can use credit card and bank account for purchases, however are there any crypto markets that are specifically for Australian residents? These exchanges mainly are for European and US residents.

The name is just an avatar. In real life, he holds too many currency which might make the market erupt if he releases all of them at once. So yes, he has impact, just his name doesn't matter.

Currently alts are faster than btc, so investing them may be faster. Looking for a better job can also help you get btc faster. BTW, investing is defnitely the right choice, just need to decide what to invest in. Keep going bro!

Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house?

Haha it's very interesting to look back on posts when btc was not worth so much. It totally paints this question in a new lighting. And the second comment too. If btc rose so high, people would accept it to buy a house. However, while the price is extremely high, many people are still not willing to sell in bitcoin as a payment method, and i doubt many people would use btc to buy a house.

Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin a good way to invest your money ?

even though it is rising, we have to take into account it's massive price as well. When you factor that in, it's only rising about 10%. Still, that is huge, so it still is a good investment but not as good as before when it jumped from 400- 2000.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset?
|
on: September 05, 2017, 11:48:48 AM

BTC has both properties of assets and currencies. It originally started out as a method of currency, but as people realised it's worth and got more interested, it's values rose as a currency. Now it has gained the properties of volatility, and enormous potential to multiply, which is similar to assets. Therefore we keep them. So in the end, is it an asset or currency? I would say both.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Government Must be Winning!
|
on: September 05, 2017, 09:08:34 AM

We do not need just the governments to be enemies to Bitcoiners. Scammers, bad developers, thieves, hackers, aggressive market manipulators, day traders/scalpers and pump and dump groups are also the enemies within. Unless we can curb all the bad influences inside of Bitcoin and Altcoin spaces, do not think for one moment that all this will be left so unregulated and unnoticed. If we cannot self regulate our actions to act responsibly and not be so utterly ruthless and selfish in our quest for wealth creation, then we will end up being regulated by bigger forces than us.
Agreed, but there will always be scammers and thieves for whenever there is money. This is simply something that we cannot avoid. The issue of government oppresion on bitcoin is the issue that we can tackle, and so i think that is the only force that we should try to overthrow in terms of control over economy

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why compare BTC to USD?

Because USD is one of the most comonly used currencies in the world, and is what most people use to talk about the price. This car is 34000 grand usd, my house is 400k usd etc. etc
