621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: powered risers.....really? on: January 21, 2014, 03:35:50 AM
Powered risers replace the 75w that is normally present with the pcie lane physical connection.

In other words, if you don't use powered risers, you will be overspeccing your 6/8 pin gpu connectors.

Always play safe.  Miners don't let other miners use non-powered risers.

So united-miners is a scam?

No.  Pools always get murdered in the first couple hours.

Pre-mine, no thanks.

It was a pre-mine of 25k coins vs a total currency # of 1,000,000,000.

I think you'll be ok.

626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: When the scrypt ASICs come out... on: January 20, 2014, 01:09:27 PM
I want scrypt asics to come out. People here bitching about not being able to make money is embarrassing. If all you care about is making money, then you are missing the whole point of cryptocurrencies. We need asics to increase the diff and secure the network. we need more efficient miners instead of power hungry GPUs.

Its evolution baby.

No.  GPUs are for the masses, ASICs are for the rich few.  Keep scrypt in the hands of the people.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX 7950 Double D Caught on Fire on: January 19, 2014, 06:07:55 PM
Undervolt that card by modding using bios using the VBE07 bios editor

Worked like a charm to bring my xfx 7950 volts down to 1.09.  I lopped off 10c from the top-end doing that cause the card came stock @ 1.256v which is way too much.
628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboard and RAM for 10 x r9 280x on: January 19, 2014, 04:51:40 PM
Asus tends to be overpriced sometimes.

Gigabyte 79xx cards had VRM flame-out issues, so i am not sure if that's still a "feature" of the 280x variations.

Powercolor i have heard of general QA issues, like the XFX boards.

My personal vote would go to MSI!
629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CGMINER Low Hashrate on 7770 [Scrypt] on: January 19, 2014, 06:04:49 AM
Just tried

Code:
--intensity 15 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 1 -w 256

Still showing 20khash, Ive tried other intensities such as 14,13,12 and same issue.

Prolly need to wipe your drivers off cleanly.  After uninstalling and rebooting, try the Catalyst 13.4 / APP SDK 2.9 combo.  All my 7xxx cards love it.

631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2x Radeon R9 290/290x - 1000w PSU Possible? on: January 18, 2014, 06:52:40 PM
I run 2x R9 290's on a 750W PSU stable at 920kh/s each.
Other rig is 3x R9 290's with a 1200W PSU.

Nice.

Which make/model 290s?

I'm running 3 290s on an 850W Corsair. (single 12V rail ftw)

Undervolted and underclocked they pull less than 200W doing 800 kh. They'll do 875 if you don't mind them pulling another 75W as well. Not really worth it from an efficiency point of view imo.

Also nice, which make/model 290 and what clocks / volts?
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CGMINER Low Hashrate on 7770 [Scrypt] on: January 18, 2014, 06:46:17 PM
OP, your .bat / .config file string(s) would be helpful.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ***Pixelcoin Buy/Sell (PXL)*** Buy or sell a piece of internet history!! on: January 18, 2014, 06:42:37 PM
How much is this coin going for per 100?  I am seeing anywhere from .04 - .1 per 100, but i would like to know what people have been actually paying for it.

It appears to be quite difficult to mine out.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WTF is going on with my GPUs (R9 290X and 6950) ? on: January 17, 2014, 04:11:37 PM
I offer no solutions, but i always warn against mixing cards that like different --gpu-thread sizes.  The 280x / 7970s are rare in that they like -g 2, and for that reason mixing them with any other cards (just about all of them) that prefer -g 1 is asking for it.  In other words, OP, you are likely doing nothing wrong.

Got another machine you could throw that 6950 into?
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STOP PRE-ANNOUNCING NEW COINS on: January 16, 2014, 09:02:03 PM
Stop telling others what to do.

Free market.

Go dictate someone else.
636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it worth to start mining ? on: January 16, 2014, 01:33:48 PM
OP, it's a risk, but it has paid off handsomely for me and many others.

Don't do the trading route though.  If you lose it, you lose it all.  If you go hardware and lose it, then at least you have the hardware to sell back.

Also, don't worry about the Scrypt ASICs.  The sheep love to bleat about them, but they are still a pipedream from the investor pov.  No-one wants to invest millions into a device which plays in a market where there are whales waiting to pull the rug out from under them.  The second LTC hit $40 a month or two ago there were massive sells (hundreds of thousands of LTC) that went up.  LTC has yet to recover.  Keep that in mind.
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gridseed just sold a first batch of scrypt ASIC ... on: January 15, 2014, 10:03:56 PM
Perhaps the first BFL of the scrypt world has been born?

Good luck to keeping up with demand.

I want to buy 52500 COYE , i traded succesfully 612k with atp1916 5 minutes ago, he can confirm I'm honest.

Woop, forgot to leave you some trust!

I am quite sure they've wiped everything.  They've been named in a lawsuit after all.

Each 7850 will pull 110-120w, and the 6970 will pull 175-200w + that x4 chip = Cutting it close.
