Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost wallet password from 2017

Thanks for the replies everyone. It's probably a lost cause as I don't remember much about the password. The most annoying part is I backed up the wallet that has .02 coins and not the one we're talking about. Oh well, life goes on.

Why not open the armory and backup it again if it is still installed on your PC/Laptop?
You just need to switch from standard to expert you can find it under the user menu then reopen the Armory wallet again. Now, click the wallet properties and then back up this wallet, and new tab pop up now you can able to create a paper backup.
If it has a passphrase and you forgot it then your last hope is to brute force the wallet.
Yes it has a lost passphrase and I am currently attempting brute force attacks. Is there anything salvageable from files on the OS that would provide clues to help me build another attack? I am thinking if I can narrow down the time and date I moved the coins I will be able to build a better tokens file. Or anything else from the OS drive that might help.

Bitcoin / Armory / Lost wallet password from 2017
|
on: November 08, 2021, 05:13:31 PM

In Nov of 2017, I moved my coin to a new wallet in Armory and like a n00b, did not print a paper backup. I do have the original OS where Armory has been installed since 2013 (Windows 7) and am hoping there are some clues to help with recovery efforts. My attempts at using btcrecover have not been successful yet but they continue no run on a modest hardware, but I am losing hope.
I messaged a developer yesterday and got a quick reply (thanks goatpig) and was told the best place to seek support is a new thread here. If anyone has other tips to assist, thank you in advance.

Nice one! Looking forward to adding these to my GekkoScience rack. The R808's may have to go as I never got around to mounting them the way I'd like to. For the space I have available left to mine, it's great to see a piece of your gear being sold in a case.

Question (or request) for VH on the Gekko build...is it possible to pass in GSD for 2pac's, and GSE for pods to the --USB startup argument? I'm trying to keep multiple instances of cgminer stable and isolate the devices in bunches.
On may batch files, I'm thinking it would be something like cgminer.exe --usb GSD:4 for one instance of 4 x 2pacs, and cgminer.exe --usb GSE:4 in another instance for 4 pods. How are others separating out their Gekko devices on the same Windows OS?
That would be interesting, but no it's not available. In general, it would be best while testing and tuning to focus on a single unit in its own isolated environment. You'll make better progress and get more repeatable results. Thanks for the reply, vh. For the life of me I cannot get the 2pac's and pods to run in the same instance of cgminer, hence the question. I'm curious to know if others have been using the latest 4.10 gekko build for both sticks and pods. I can run an earlier build for just the sticks with no issues, but when I add the pods the 2pacs always zombie out.

Thanks for covering Phil. Don't know how it sent without a fee. Looks like it went through though.
Looks like I'll spend some time to update the core and Armory over the weekend. It had been a while since I loaded my wallet up. Regardless, I appreciate the work on your end.

Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Been reading about a lot of dying sp20's

2 SP20's running since Nov. One unit has been running strong at 1.3 TH/s.
The other is down 2 ASIC's, with an intermittent test serial failed message. Sometimes the 2 faulty ASIC's will hash, but I've found it easier to simply disable and not have to babysit the unit. This unit also will not run reliably without an SD card.

I have a strange issue happening with my SP20....after running for a 4-6 hours, cgminer will crash, and I will not be able to log into the unit with the usual username/password. The logon screen get stuck on the prompt after I enter the creds and press enter. It never locks me out, or goes to the Unauthorized page, just continues to ask for the username and password. I can ping the device.
The only fix is to remove the SD card, reimage, and reboot (My sp20 doesn't fare so well unless running off an SD card)
Has anyone had a similar problem? This has almost become a daily occurrence, and is very annoying.

I had to replace all 4 of the 6 pin pci-e connectors on my hab. Figured it was the same scenario...just too hard for too long! The only tricky part was the one that melted the plastic so bad, I had to drill it out
