1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Need help with cgminer-api on: September 04, 2022, 02:51:58 PM
Thank you very much Kano.
I did study that part of the readme word by word but the command didn't work as written, on my end. After many hours of trials, I found out what the issue was. I'm writing it extensively so anyone that comes across my same issue may benefit.
Sending the command cgminer-api disablepool|1 (as I understood from the readme) could not work because the symbol "|" has its own meaning in Linux and gets interpreted as such, and not as an option of cgminer-api command.
The correct syntax is therefore: cgminer-api "disablepool|1". This way it works with most pools.
In my case I can only disable some of the pools in the list, I need to study better how is that possible. My guess is that the pools i'm trying to remove are somehow hard-coded in cgminer configuration by some file where my account that has no write authority.

One last quick question, can you please help me clarify this syntax  error of disablepool command?

...
Also I'm going nuts trying to find the correct syntax for 'cgminer-api removepool' or 'cgminer-api disablepool'. 'cgminer-api pools' Reports pools from no. 0 to no 3. If I try 'cgminer-api disablepool 1' for example I get invalid argument error for the disablepool command. From some research it seems I should be using some pool ID in the disablepool or remove pool commands, but i cant find this pool id information anywhere.

Thank you very much!

Thank you very much Kano and Bitmax for your kind replies. Have 2 new babies in the house and I don't have access to pc often these days. Here are my replies to each of your questions and feebacks.

To Kano: I studied the api-readme, I have the commands enabled in my api group. As a matter of fact when I issue the command via SSH I do not get forbidden reply from the api, I receive the missing pool ID reply. I do not use W: group as I had some issues in understanding what IP where my commands being received from, so I changed the default api group adding the commands I needed and it seems to be working fine. I know you wrote the api and the readme, so I'm honored you are actually replying to me in person!

To Bitmaxz: I am working on several machine types (bitmain Antminer L3+, t17, s17, if I can make the few changes I need I would really need also to extend the work to s19). I send the commands via ssh interface.

Thank you so much for your help!
Francesco

Thank you very much Bitmaxz for your kind reply.
That line you linked on api-readme regards the API groups. In the group I'm using I'm allowed to use all pool related commands. as a matter of fact I receive invalid argument, not forbidden, as a reply.

Braiinsos has a terrible mining engine running at over 10c more than cgminer at same performance levels. Also it is much less stable than cgminer. Hiveos is very poor in programming quality, i.e. it throttles fans according to pcb temps not chip temps (LOL).

Any other ideas?
Thanks friends

Hello everyone,
I'm tinkering around a cgminer implementation on bitmain asic mining firmwares that is driving me crazy. I have two questions. I hope some of you may help me sort out what I'm getting wrong.
If i query cgminer-api pools the system counts an overall of 6 pools, but in the following details in the 'cgminer-api pools' result I see only 4 pools, not 6.

1. Are the remaining 2 hidden or it is some kind of malfunction?

Also I'm going nuts trying to find the correct syntax for 'cgminer-api removepool' or 'cgminer-api disablepool'. 'cgminer-api pools' Reports pools from no. 0 to no 3. If I try 'cgminer-api disablepool 1' for example I get invalid argument error for the disablepool command. From some research it seems I should be using some pool ID in the disablepool or remove pool commands, but i cant find this pool id information anywhere.

2. What am i doing wrong in using these commands?

Does anyone of you guys have any suggestions? Thank you so much, its been over a week now I'm stuck at this!

I think the issue is that Suprnova uses a very short "N" value for PPLNS calculations on ZEC. This makes the results extremely variable. If the N value were increased, payouts would be much less variable, but it would take longer to get your coins.

Anyway, it's very possible for your shares to be worth nothing with PPLNS. It's also common for them to be worth 2 or 3x as much (or more). It all depends on luck.

I agree 100 percent.

Ocminer, you still have not replied to my 4 support requests of 2 weeks ago so please don't go around claiming that your available everywhere and if we're not able to reach you it's our problem.

Ocminer, pardon my arrogance but if I understand the mechanic correctly all you have to do to solve our issue is increase the N value to a few times the share number of an unlucky round.

Can't you do that?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Mining Pool Hub - Multipool. Multialgo, Auto Exchange to any coin. on: August 25, 2017, 08:14:12 AM
Hello everyone,

Mining pool hub said:"...You need to mine with low speed for long period of time.
Also make sure that you do not leave the pool in the middle of mining. (This happens at nicehash frequently because of bid/ask change of hashpower)..."

I'm a frequent user of Nicehash services, what is so wrong about non-continuous mining?
Can someone please help me understand?
If I have hashing power that comes and goes intermittedly, how does that hurt me? By participating to many more blocks over a longer period of time, shouldn't my earnings be actually more stable than participating to a smaller amount of blocks but in a more continuous way?
Thank you all

The payments are fine with suprnova, it's just the amount credited while mining that doesn't add up.

Philip, I strongly suggest you try other pools like mining pool hub or coinotron, these last two seem to be much more reliable IMHO.
Thank you all for your kind replies. I think there are two possibilities to explain suprnova behavior:
1. PPLNS number of shares is lower than a few unlucky rounds, therefore the last contributors to a round get overpaid and the first ones get stolen.
2. The admin is deliberately playing around.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Suprnova.cc scam?! on: August 17, 2017, 06:52:56 PM

Hello everyone.
I did many many tests with suprnova pool on different coins and in many many rounds.
In very many occasions I found that there was something wrong with the coins credited to me.
In many occasions I saw round completion to go much above 300 percent and my expected credit to drop insanely. On several occasions I have seen my expected coins to drop completely to zero, nullifying all my contribution. On one occasion I purchased massive hashing power from Nicehash (equivalent to 120 USD) and got credited no coins at all. From Nicehash no problem at all was detected when submitting my shares in all occasions. Just the same as when I bought hashing power and all went fine with suprnova. Always used the same settings.
One time when I had bought some amount of hashing power I saw again the same pattern of my expected revenue drop to zero I sent a mail to suprnova support. I never received any reply, but all of a sudden I saw all my submitted shares of that round disappear from suprnova counter.

I trusted this pool as it was the top most suggested by Nicehash. I have written to suprnova support many times asking for explanations, assuming these were errors of some kind.i never received any kind of reply from them.

Here are some conclusions I arrived to:
1. If I'm not mistaken with pplns it should be impossible to get 0 revenue out submitting many many shares. Maybe it could drop to 0.000001, but there's no way I could get from something like 0.5 expected zec to absolute 0 unless I got some kind of massive error.
2. There's no way one round can last days and go over 500 percent complete. I've suffered from these many many times.
3. I've compared my results with other pools and never registered any similar behavior, not even slightly close.
4. The fact that I'm not receiving any reply from the admin to my many questions and help requests is too strange. Some of the bugs I have experienced are massive. I was a very good contributor to suprnova, often generating over 10 percent of the entire pool hash. Having that amount of hashing power disappear into thin air seems too strange to me to be an error.

If anyone wants I have all the necessary information and proofs from Nicehash proving my statements here. I keep hoping to receive a reply from the admin of suprnova proving that this whole thing was a huge misunderstanding or an error. Since over 2 weeks have passed since I started asking for explanations and I received no reply, I am forced to believe I have been stolen from suprnova.cc

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: XMR Monero Pool xmr.suprnova.cc MPOS Based PPLNS on: August 04, 2017, 10:38:32 AM
Hello,
I have sent a message through the contact form in Suprnova yesterday but I still haven't received a reply. I'm sure the staff must be buisy, maybe someone here can help me as well. Since 2 days ago I am experiencing a problem with xmr.suprnova.cc, and I want to know if other ppl are having it too.
I bought a good amount of hashing power to mine xmr on suprnova. the hashing ended 2 nights ago and I had a good round earnings estimate. After some time the round progress counter started going above 100% and my round earning estimate has been progressively decreasing. At the time I'm writing the round progress counter is at 237% and my earning estimate has decreased of approximately 60%. The more time passes, the more that counter goes up and the less my earning estimate.
It seems ulikely that the round is still in progress and that people are still submitting shares, as it would mean that the difficulty of this round has more than doubled. Such an abrupt increase seems unlikely.
Do you have any idea on what is going on? Anyone else experiencing this?

Thank you
