261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash will be THE Bitcoin on: August 13, 2017, 09:25:04 PM
Someone is obviously supporting it. It's not just people trapped in it but when price goes down you see big orders pumping money into it. Either someone believes in it or has a big stake in it

As long as that keeps happening, you can make good money on it.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best crypto payment card? Monaco, TokenCard, TenX, Lot on: August 13, 2017, 12:49:05 AM
I agree that it's a no brainer. I'll invest in any good solution that comes up.

I've looked at tenx and monaco. Monaco seems to have a great team but their progress is like sleepy hollow since May. Have they done anything?

Tenx is moving forward, which is great. Something about the tenx team rubs me the wrong way and i can't put my finger on it. I need to do more research.

So I might have to eat my words in my previous post (or someone from iconomi saw the light). Apparently they've hired a new (experienced) investment manager so their fees might be more reasonable.

Now if they could only get listed on another big exchange they might have a chance
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Good charts for crypto? on: August 12, 2017, 03:28:43 PM
i can recommend cryptowatch.de, its free and no popups - it has all the informations u need from a lot of exchanges,...
with an account @ kraken u can trade directly, helps a lot.
Thanks! Cryptowatch looks a lot like what I want.

I started the account verification at kraken but they are such a pain in the neck about it that I gave up (i got verified in 2 other exchanges with my documents but they weren't good enough for kraken apparently 😡
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Good charts for crypto? on: August 12, 2017, 03:20:36 PM
I love coinigy but their monthly fee is pretty steep. I'm just learning about crypto trading so I can't justify the $15 a month
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Good charts for crypto? on: August 12, 2017, 02:55:54 PM
Where do you find good charts for coins? I'm on bittrex and their charts suck. Trading view is ok but they only have the top coins and there are pop ups every so often asking me to subscribe . Ideally free and no subscription required.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Anyone want to talk about DASH? on: August 12, 2017, 02:16:05 PM
It seems stuck in a rut now around $207-212. Will it ever break out again?

A month ago I thought this coin had potential but now???

Also in legal risk I think if they're entering a heavily regulated industry (eg those ico's trying to set up a stock exchange trading real shares with crypto) that increases the risk exponentially

About the legal risk, I don't think we need to evaluate at an early stage. However, beyond the confirmation of existence of legal entities.

Interesting. I'm curious about why you wouldn't do it upfront? And if not at the beginning, then when?
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICONOMI to the moon! Platform is online ;) on: August 09, 2017, 01:08:47 AM
I just looked at their fund offerings. Their management fee is 3% (!!) for the standard fund and 20%!!! For the other one. No one will buy into these at those rates. Plus they posted their exact portfolio composition so you can just buy into all the same coins at the same percentages and save yourself 3%.
270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ICO certification service needed on: August 08, 2017, 11:21:00 PM
I made a chart of the estimated risks. Please add to view, give comments.
Under certification it seems to me should fall the branches the risk of crowdfunding and the status of the project.

That is a really good chart!

From the top of my head; in financial risk,  the risk they run out of money before project can be operationalized. What does the ico intend to do with funds? Do they already have financing from elsewhere?

Also in legal risk I think if they're entering a heavily regulated industry (eg those ico's trying to set up a stock exchange trading real shares with crypto) that increases the risk exponentially

271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEC crackdown on exchanges on: August 07, 2017, 02:45:44 AM
Anyone have concerns about this causing the alt coin market to crater? How much time do we have till the SEC makes their move? Also, what happens if an exchange were to shut down? Do the coins just go poof?

https://www.coindesk.com/legal-experts-warn-of-coming-crackdown-on-token-exchanges/

https://www.coindesk.com/tokens-can-be-securities-even-ico-advisors-agree-with-the-sec/

I think it's inevitable for US based exchanges. They'll have to be regulated or move out of the us and not sell to us consumers.

This will definitely spook people. Keep your coins in your wallet and not on the exchange.
But some of the people in US try to use VPN or another.  There is some exchange site based in US such as polo and coinbase. But i prefer to use the canadian exchange such as kraken or russian exchange.
It will be safe in my opinion.

The Canadian based exchanges will be next. Canada just follows US trends.

Call me conservative (i am dull martini after all) but I like my exchanges to be regulated. I wish there was some oversight of ico's so they wouldn't be so scammy...

Shocked

Game is still young ladies.

I agree with this. I'm not selling my bch yet. It's free cash right now and people are taking advantage
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guide to alt coins? on: August 05, 2017, 01:28:29 PM
Hi:

I'm fairly new and trying to learn about crypto currencies. I bought some btc a little while ago and want to start looking at alt coins. But I'm so lost. When I look at coin market cap there are 100s of coins listed. Is there a guide to all these or do I have to go through all the websites of each coin to figure out how they're different or what they do, their sector or an overview?

I have areas and technologies I'm keen to invest in but sifting through all these websites doesn't sound very productive.

when you look at coin market cap, my suggestion is you only focus with at least 20 coins because this type of coins is getting a good position. after you choose 20 coins (you can choose less than 10 coins if you think 20 coins is too big), you need to see in the market, how the movement of each coins, is it good or not depend on increasing bitcoin price. oh by the way, after you bought the coin, do you want to just hold the coins like investing or you want to do trading? because if you just hold, then you don't have to make anything, just save in each wallet or multi wallet.

but if you want to do trading, then you need to read some article about trading and learn from there so in the end, you can familiar with trading and you can make profit.

For my main strategy I want to hold. I might do some trading later on.

Dullmartini,  I am new like yourself and have done research,  Would recommend you get the relevant wallets stored on your Deskptop/Laptops and maybe buy some cheaper coins/assets.

I have been going through forums and websites and I have purchased some of the below and have around £5000 spare to invest so may look at other options.

XEM
XRP
GNT

These are the coins I have invested but long term not interested in trading as too risky with the volatility in the market.

Thanks! Yep got a wallet and doing tons of research. There's so much though. Why did you select these coins to invest in?

I have experience investing in the centralized world so I know my risk tolerance and what I have the stomach for. What bothers me in crypto is that there are so many projects I don't understand. For example, in real world, i mostly invest in certain industries that I am familiar with. I am looking for the crypto equivalent (the potential blockchain uses for my target industry are huge so that's not the problem). It's that there is no list of the opportunities in that space.
