801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why did stablecoins (USDC) lose their peg to the dollar? on: March 11, 2023, 12:22:47 PM
Stable coins will be de-pegged if assets they use to back their stable coins have troubles.

Troubles can be from their bad algorithm like Terra algorithm for their algorithmic stable coin UST.
Troubles can be from their shady finance management for their treasury to back their stable coins but unfortunately their shady treasury management is detected and leaked like FTX case that cause their token FTT went to the hell. That token is not a stable coin but it's good to use as an example.
Troubles can be from banks like bank bankruptcies Smiley

Unpopular to recommend but I'm with mk4 on "get a job".

I think the danger with Bitcoin or any kind of investment is people get enamoured with the promise, and then abandon themselves and their careers/skills/livelihood. So save yourself time and use it to get better value for youself.
Get a job and use part of salary for investment in Bitcoin. It makes their bitcoin investment more sustainable long term.

If they use all salary for investment, it turns to be unsustainable because when they lose a job or when they need money (cash), they must sell their bitcoin and not all times they can sell it at profitable price.

Investment is executed to gain profit but investors must have plans they won't have profit but loss instead from their investment. What will they do with loss like this, they must have reserved money to use.

Fortunately with Bitcoin, if you don't have to sell it at bottom, you can sell it at new all time high in a next bull run that comes after a next halving.

Knowing about next block reward halving is important too: https://bitcoinblockhalf.com/
Controlled supply for future halvings after 2024.
803  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading season? on: March 10, 2023, 03:09:47 PM
In short-term trading, I think there is no trading season for that, Because since there is trading like short time or day trading, there is no season, there may be perfect pick time for trading.
With short term trading like daily trading, it is for professional traders who consider it as their job. They are experienced enough and spent enough time and cost (loss) in the market to understand it as well as figure our their mistakes, fix such and find good strategies for their trading. In addition, they are very disciplined with their trades. If they can not gain profit, they exit with either a draw or small cut loss.

Quote
On the other hand what I understand about the trading season in long-term trading that is very easy - there is will be always two season one is bull and the other is bear,  For example, bearish season is going on now is the perfect time to take trade for long-term trading.
Long term trading is like gambling. They fail with short term trading, hesitate to cut loss and exit the market so they fall into middle of long term investors and long term traders. To avoid to be called as failed traders, they name themselves as long term traders.

Long term traders get loss if they buy at top of bull market and hold their coins long enough till bottom of bear market.  Cry
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Biden budget proposes 30% tax on crypto mining electricity usage on: March 10, 2023, 03:02:15 PM
I have previously disagreed with your theories about how illegal BTC miners and electricity theft will be the solution to maintaining decentralization, and I can even less agree that this would ever be the case in the US. It's not some third-class country where you can steal large amounts of electricity and stay off the radar long enough to make a profit.
Electricity theft to mine Bitcoin for more profitable. I guess there are people doing this just like they steal electricity for their family usage or for other activities. Mining Bitcoin is one of use cases for their stolen electricity.

Again this is like an accusation that Bitcoin is used for Ponzi, for drug market etc. but we can not flip the coin and say the opposite, Bitcoin is responsible for Ponzi scheme, drug or darknet markets.

I have never read any report about percent of Bitcoin miners use stolen electricity to mine it. Any idea?

806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you interpret the fluctuation of Bitcoin price ? on: March 10, 2023, 11:47:06 AM
News often plays a role in the ups and downs of cryptocurrency or bitcoin prices
Bitcoin investors must experience and familiar to digest news especially fud. It is easier to look at the past and say early investors are lucky but they don't know that over years, there are many news, fud that can shake your hands any time and it's really hard to hold your bitcoin.

Quote
As the bad news in the market in these days due to which the price of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin is constantly falling. And the risk of further market crashes remains. But people who have experience with cryptocurrency start  buying in such crashes.Because they know that this is the best time to buy.
It's time to buy a dip but if you want to be sure, let's wait about 2 or 3 more days before you buy it.

If your plan is DCA, today is good enough for you to do it rather than days ago when Bitcoin was traded about $24,000 or $25,000. If you are DCAing, I don't think buying Bitcoin today or next 3 days will be big matter for your consideration.

807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Paul Krugman Effect on: March 09, 2023, 02:43:43 PM
What makes him a legend? Was he right about the Internet or is it perhaps "legendarily stupid" to give such a man the Nobel Prize for economics? The fact is that he and people like him always stand firmly by the system, even when it seems that they are somehow opposing it. The only question is who recruited him and whose payroll he is on. Someone who receives a Nobel Prize does not necessarily have to be smart or a genius, because those who call themselves "flat earthers" also have as their leader a man who also won a Nobel Prize for something.
He can be a legend in his special field with which he was awarded the Nobel prize. However, he truly is not a legend in other fields like Bitcoin and cryptocurrency so his words in fields he is not familiar with are simply stupid words.

Funny for people who asked for his opinion when they already knew it does not belong to his special field. It's hilarious to see people believe in his tweets as well.

Quote
People who persistently advocate the idea that Bitcoin is a means to launder money, buy drugs, avoid paying taxes or even hire assassins will never be legends in my world. Neither do those who claim that firewood is "the next Bitcoin".
Bitcoin is a mean for such things I agree but it was not designed to do that. People who want to do those illegal or immoral activities surely try to find what they can use to do it. Bitcoin is one of their means to do it.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will accepting cryptocurrency as a payment be profitable for business? on: March 09, 2023, 11:18:46 AM
Cryptocurrency payment getaways have the lowest transaction fees so that the business owners gets more profit from it.
It is not true for all cryptocurrencies.

If you use Ethereum when transaction fee on ERC-20 chain was damn expensive like $300 or more for one transaction, how is it profitable for your business and your customers?

Quote
accepting cryptocurrency as a method of payment opens you to more customers internationally.
It can be helpful if your business provides good products that are attractive to guests then customers. If they feel interested in your products, they will feel more comfortable if your business accept cryptocurrencies because they will have more options for payments.

Quote
it will helped your business to increase profitability and revenue growth.
It depends on your business plan to handle customer payments and how you use money for your business (importing products, paying salary to staffs and other operational costs). If you don't have good reserved budget for those expenses, you will have to sell your Bitcoin at cheap price and maybe at lower price than when you received it from customers. Then it would cause loss for your business, not profit.
809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: March 09, 2023, 11:11:14 AM
Conte is a great coach, I would not change him, especially since the 1/8 finals is quite a decent result and in the Premier League they also have good chances to finish the season in the top 4, so everything is not so bad.
Conte is a good coach for domestic leagues as he won some titles from Italy with Juventus, Inter Milan to Premier League with Chelsea. However, he is not good for Champions League as so far he did not achieve any big milestone in Champions League with some big clubs (Inter Milan, Juventus, Chelsea) and likely he is unable to change it with Tottenham.

Tottenham in reality are not competitive enough in Champions League. They are good but not too strong and I think it is more realistic for Tottenham to focus on Premier League and try to win it. In Champions League, many bigger clubs are stronger than Tottenham and they have more experience there than Tottenham too.

Quote
But PSG will definitely want to replace Galtier, because under his leadership the team did not show any progress, they lost in the French Cup, their results in Ligue 1 are not as impressive as before, they don’t score as much, they concede a lot. And of course, the main reason is the departure from the Champions League at the 1/8 stage, it's too early for such a team.
PSG will have a big reshuffle in coming summer from Galtier to their squad. Many players who are old like Ramos, Messi, Veratti will have to leave and maybe Neymar will leave too. Mbappe future is very uncertain after this defeat as he did not show that he has enough loyalty and patience with PSG.

It's fair to consider his performance in Munich is under average. He should look at himself before requiring too much from PSG and his team mates.
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: March 08, 2023, 01:50:12 PM
I did not expect that Benfica would go forward so actively, in fact they did not need to win the match with a big score, it was enough to score one or two goals and just save their energy for the next matches, but they were very charged for the attacking game.
Benfica play very well in past two seasons in their domestic Portuguese League and in Champions League too. In their domestic league, Benfica are leading ahead of Porto in this season. In Champions League, they simply won easily in both two legs and are deserved to get in the quarter final round.

Quote
A draw will be enough for Bayern today, but will they play to keep the score? The situation will force PSG to go forward, but it will force them to open up areas in defense, which Bayern can take advantage of.
Bayern won't start the match with their main plan for a draw only. Because they do know that PSG are dangerous with Messi and Mbappe as well as some creative midfielders. In addition PSG have Sergio Ramos who is always goal productive in corner kicks. Bayern knows that if they let PSG score one goal first, it will be a start of something they might not be able to control well.

With domination they shown in a first leg, Bayern will begin a second leg to break mentality of PSG as soon as possible. Their whole system works fine and their weakness is from Choupo-Moting. The striker has bad ability to score goals even he received good key passes from his team mates.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as means of exchange in happy day supermarket on: March 08, 2023, 01:18:38 PM
I would like to know what will happen to you when Bitcoin price decrease for 50% because your owner will think he's not making money by accepting Bitcoin, but actually he's lose and it just wasting his time to add Bitcoin payment.
It is what happened in El Salvador after Bitcoin Day 3 years ago. 1 year after Bitcoin Day in El Savaldor, poll shows that (read below) and I believe it only got worse later when Bitcoin fell down more.

Majority of El Salvadorians do not want Bitcoin, poll shows
The use of bitcoin in El Salvador appears to be low, as the currency has lost about 60% of its value since the experiment started

Mini stores that accept Bitcoin will have same problems. How they will store those Bitcoin in long term but still be able to manage the store operation and financial budget.

812  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin transactions in batches? on: March 08, 2023, 12:11:50 PM
I've been a member of this forum for a while and I'm still learning new things about how bitcoin transactions work. Because I've noticed that bitcoin is sent and received in batches, my current question is about this.
You can read Change address.
What is the "Change" address on bitcoin wallet ? read to know !

In most transactions, you won't spend all your inputs as outputs and the leftovers will be returned to your original address or to a change address. Change address is recommended to for better privacy. It is in general but more meaningful if you use self custody wallets, not custody wallets like accounts on centralized exchanges.

On centralized exchanges, they always do batch transactions for user withdrawals. First, it saves transaction fees for them. Second it helps them to earn income from fee they over charge on their customers. Generally they care more about their income from processing customer withdrawals.

You can use
https://bitcoindata.science/plot-your-transaction-in-mempool.html
https://bitcoinops.org/en/tools/calc-size/
https://jlopp.github.io/bitcoin-transaction-size-calculator/
to learn about input, output effects on transaction size then transaction fee.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin appears to have decoupled from the stock market, finally... on: March 08, 2023, 04:43:46 AM
It's difficult to predict with certainty what will happen with the relationship between Bitcoin and the stock market.
The common things between two markets are their sensitivity against news, fud and regulations from SEC and FED.

When those authorities don't launch fud, both markets will move with their own ways and we don't see any mutual correlation between them or very weak correlation.

When two authorities are actively with their fuds and potentially launched regulations, both markets likely react with a same direction and we probably will see their coupled connection that won't last forever.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is, how easy it is to scam people on: March 07, 2023, 02:21:43 PM
she was talking like "bitcoin=money"
She is like most of newbies and new comers in cryptocurrency. They are attractive by stories like Bitcoin Pizza but then they believe in Altcoin pizza stories that are not realistic. Very few altcoins can survive after many years and can help them to gain good profit like Ethereum, BNB, Dogecoin. They are barely seen altcoins. Other altcoins only make them poorer.

i said exchange where you can buy cryptocurrency, exchanges like binance, kucoin, etc.
she said "oh, i am with binance "
she does not know anything about binance and basic terms just made an account following her mentor.
she is so dumb to scam her.
Nothing is wrong to believe in your mentor until a moment your mentor asks you to send him or her money. If my mentor asks me to do so, I am out immediately.

It is a common method in life and not only exist in cryptocurrency. So I don't feel strange if anyone tries to scam me with this method.

A good mentor will teach you do do things by yourself, not doing things on behalf of you and if it is related directly to your money, it sounds like too good to be true mentor, more like a scammer.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mini private key format on: March 07, 2023, 11:07:02 AM
Simple answer is because its Base58Check so it starts with "S" as for the public keys there some standards.

  • Taproot address - P2TR : bc1p
  • Bech32 / Segwit: bc1q
  • Script address: 3
  • Legacy address: 1
They are public addresses, not public key, not private key.

Private key has some representations: Raw, Hex, WIF, WIF-compressed. Private key formats (Mastering Bitcoin)

With WIF, WIF-compressed formats, you can recognize them by prefix (WIF with prefix 5; WIF-compressed with prefix K or L).
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 07, 2023, 10:39:21 AM
So we setup his software wallet and he bought 0.01 BTC. Not sure if he'll buy more, but I can certainly say I'm proud of him!
What is the software wallet you used to set up for your Dad?

Hopefully it is an open source self custody wallet.

Setting up that wallet for your Dad is not enough. You should teach him how to backup the wallet seed as well as how to recover it from seed. You should teach him that he should not give up that seed information to anyone. Because if he leaks it to others, he will lose that wallet and bitcoin will be stolen by people who know that wallet seed.

How did you know about Bitcoin in 2016, 2017 and know about those faucets but did not join the forum earlier?

You only joined Bitcointalk in 2022, about less one year and one month ago. It is good to know that you are Bitcoin adopter since 2016, 2017 and you are survivor since the past bear market and a current one because you are still here, around Bitcoin, this market and are a member of this forum.

Would you mind sharing what happened with you since 2016 till 2022, please.

Today you can claim Bitcoin at this faucet: https://freebitco.in/site/bitcoin-faucet/

I am not sure about other faucets.

A first Bitcoin faucet is Get 5 free bitcoins from freebitcoins.appspot.com in June 2010.
818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 05, 2023, 02:37:35 PM
Manchester United is in better form than Liverpool right now. Liverpool have been very poor this season while the opposite is the case for Man United. United keeps improving daily and they keep playing better. Manchester United are clearly the better side and should win the match but because of the strong rivalry between both teams it would be difficult to predict the winner.
Having better form sounds good at match start but it does not secure a final win for a team. A match will be decided by many situations. Sometimes it is decided by a personal deadly mistake. Sometimes it is decided by an surprising outstanding moment of a player.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United have such players who can make outstanding moments and we will have to wait for a referee final whistle to know who are the winner.

Quote
When fierce rivals play, it's always a different ball game. Both teams play with all their heart just to have that bragging right. We saw what happened between Madrid and Barcelona. By all right Madrid should have won that game but Barcelona played with everything they had and refused Madrid a single shot on target. Same thing could happen today. We could see a different Liverpool team today. Either way, I know it won't be an easy win for United, it never is with Liverpool.
Battles between big clubs are tough matches and don't go as same as most favorite predictions. Between Manchester United and Liverpool, it is more easily to pick Manchester United as a winner because of their latest better form but as you said, surprise is a most beauty in football. A stronger club does not always win a match and between big clubs, stronger or weaker is very thin difference.

I know Liverpool are not currently in form, but I think it will be kind of difficult for Manchester united to win them, most people are underestimating Liverpool, but I believe it will be a very tough match for Manchester united.
Liverpool have worse form than Manchester United and they have more problems than the opponent. It makes sense to consider Liverpool as a weaker team in this match but as said they have good star players who can help them to win against Manchester United. I think if Liverpool defense system can prevent Manchester United to score goal in a first half, they will have better chance to beat the opponent in the second half with counter attacking.
819  Economy / Gambling / Re: who to trust in gambling sites? on: March 05, 2023, 11:44:02 AM
can i trust these sites, to make  account and play, and also many small and big sites on these forum which is promoting their sites are trusted.?
In cryptocurrency, don't trust, verify.

In cryptocurrency-accepted gambling industry, don't trust casinos, let's verify their game. We have a saying "Provably fair" that means users can verify casino games and know that casinos don't cheat users.

Casino Review, Odds comparison, Provably Fair Verifiers, Bots

You should not trust review sites too because their review articles likely paid ones and their reviews can be not correct. There are Provably Fair Verifiers to verify casino games too.
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: March, 20, 2023 is Bisq Market Day! on: March 05, 2023, 11:39:11 AM
• DeFi and decentralized exchanges are two different sectors, hacks in DeFi does not mean vulnerability in exchanges like bisq. Also, CEXes have shown lots of vulnerability to hacks and breaches resulting in loss of funds or personal details.
DeFi projects are more related to centralized teams and networks. They provide products with APY interests for users, swap and so on but it is not correct to consider DeFi platforms as decentralized exchanges.

People must know some blockchains had intention to revert their blockchains after Terra, FTX collapses. Are decentralized networks can be revert easily? They are not if they are truly healthy and decentralized.

Bisq is a really decentralized exchanges that operate with support from Bitcoin network and peer-to-peer trades are safe for users. Of course, on any platform, understand well about how it operates, how to choose trade partners and how to complete a trade including dispute as well are important to use it safely.
