21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can more ATM's increase adoption for Bitcoin? on: September 22, 2019, 03:54:41 PM
It does makes you wonder who is the target audience?
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can more ATM's increase adoption for Bitcoin? on: September 22, 2019, 03:33:02 PM

We know consumers love ATM's and the convenience. Would you buy Bitcoin at ATM or nah?
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is volatile but NY Fed just pumped $75 billion into market for calm? on: September 18, 2019, 03:56:57 PM

For first time since 2008 The New York Fed made up to $75 billion available through a repo auction.
Here the Fed accepts Treasuries and other securities as collateral, and in exchange, provides cash.
The facility had not previously been used at such a scale since 2008.

Is this another flashing light of a financial crisis?
It seems these guys can print money out of thin air.
But they want to tightly regulate Bitcoin and crypto.

Government and big banks do not want competition in their money control.

24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JPMorgan Metals Desk Was a Criminal Enterprise says U.S. on: September 17, 2019, 06:32:13 AM

For almost 10 years JPMorgan Chase precious metals desk was fixing prices and racketeering.
Prosecutors charged the head of global precious metals trading operation and two others.

This is same company headed by Bitcoin critic Jamie Dimon.
JPMorgan declined to comment.

I wonder how investors feel about this criminal activity.
Maybe Bitcoin will look better in their eyes.

It certainly won't create it from thin air.
Yes agreed. I have not seen one magic crypto or platform launch that moves market by itself.
26  Economy / Speculation / Bakkt is coming: will this be biggest crypto week ever and set off bull run? on: September 16, 2019, 06:13:58 PM

This writer said Bakkt has been closely-watched by bitcoin and cryptocurrency
traders and investors, with many hoping it will usher in a bitcoin bull run
to rival the epic 2017 surge.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple’s XRP, And Litecoin Could Be Heading Into Their Biggest Week Ever.

Bakkt, is an Intercontinental Exchange-backed bitcoin platform. It was
announced last year and partners include Microsoft and Starbucks.

Do you agree with these happy thoughts or is this just smoke in the air?
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An indisputable proof that bitcoin is fake money on: September 15, 2019, 01:43:25 PM
What is this commodity money? Salt, rocks, pigs?

How can miners take Bitcoin out of circulation?
I understand once the Bitcoin is "mined" it is mined and that
applies to the 21 million that will ever be available.

All money is a belief in that there is an exchange between parties
who agree to accept "money" for whatever goods and services are offered or delivered.

It seems this indisputable proof is based on fake assumptions.
Even Coinbase and CoinMarketCp do not agree with the argument.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What to do with ERC20 tokens when ICO gone REKT? on: September 15, 2019, 09:45:58 AM

So now we hold thousands of erc20 tokens from REKT ICO. Bounties, buys, failed ICO and so on.
What can be done with them?
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If core bitcoin community moved from Bitcointalk to Reddit then.. on: September 14, 2019, 03:57:00 PM
Where did you get that impression? I’d genuinely be interested in knowing the arguments that back the assertion stated in the OP, as well as the scope of "core" in it’s context.

I got this impression from several sources. Some related to tracking sentiment on Bitcoin generally for prospective investors. Others for marketing and promoting ICO and STO projects.
And in Feb there was a piece about a third of referrals dropping in one month to bitcointalk.org
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcointalk-lost-third-users-february-004501426.html

So as a newbie I see a lot of discussion and activity IMO. But not able to compare to 2-3 years ago activity.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If core bitcoin community moved from Bitcointalk to Reddit then.. on: September 14, 2019, 03:31:03 PM

This is a good forum, you just need to look in the right boards.
Yes good point. It seems a common message is this forum is on decline from its high point.
Not as relevant for crypto and blockchain insight. To me it seems pretty active.

who are all these people now having discussions on Bitcointalk? Asking for a friend..
33  Bitcoin / Project Development / 7 Valuable Ways to Attract New Investors with Digital on: September 13, 2019, 07:00:50 PM
Digital elements including lead magnets, videos, podcasts and special reports will move prospects closer to a positive investment decision

Investor list building is what all clients want from their advisors. Many imagine it to be the Holy Grail that will eliminate market volatility, calm trade war uncertainty and propel them to untold profits.

The problem with this idea is the nature of list building and attracting investors has fundamentally changed.

Small caps, mid-caps and blockchain companies are facing the same business reality as an Etsy shop owner. In modern marketing your digital footprint matters.

A study from Brunswick found half of the investors now use digital platforms to learn what CEO’s are saying.

Younger investors and analysts are also using social media not just for research but to make investment decisions: of those aged between 20 and 29, 44 percent have used Twitter for this purpose; 29 percent have invested based on something they learned on Whatsapp, and 20 percent acted based on something they learned on Reddit.

Digital media is ingrained in how investors conduct their research
The fact is investors, analysts and traders increasingly want to see a strong and relevant online presence. This is bad news for half of the companies seeking to grow their investor lists. doing it wrong.

Many blockchain and traditional small caps are simply doing it wrong.

I’ve had the opportunity to look at hundreds of small-cap and blockchain websites. Senior executives are not using digital and social to reach and engage investors. The websites are stacked with stock photos and blandness. The basics of providing an irresistible offer in exchange for a visitors name and email address are virtually non-existent.

These companies are waving the white flag at utilizing digital assets to build relationships and convert online traffic into qualified investors. Their game plan may consist of renting email addresses a list broker.

Small caps are publicly traded firms with a market capitalization of less than US$300 million. Blockchain companies offer a mix of digital securities and Security Token Offerings (STOs). Investors are showing an increasing interest in participating with these types of companies.

In the Grayscale Annual Bitcoin survey more than a third (36 percent) of U.S. investors would consider an investment in Bitcoin, representing a potential market of more than 21 million investors in the general population.

Investors considering Bitcoin, small caps, blockchain-powered digital securities and STOs are going to conduct some level of online research. A percentage of these prospects will make decisions based on what they find.

There are many sources available. Checking the sentiment in forums, chatrooms, Telegram and Discord groups is part and parcel of generating buzz. Even institutional investors will move if a particular stock or new crypto goes viral on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

VIDEO: An investment officers view of social media

So what can be done to improve the chances and pull victory from the jaws of digital defeat? Focus on positioning your company.

There are market and price volatility. There are negative scenarios and bad actors. But there are also opportunities and surprises that can be uncovered that attract investors. Don’t wait. Get started.

Here are seven tactics that attract new investors with digital

Avatar me
Know the avatar of the investors you want to reach. Which social platforms are they active on?

LinkedIn is the most favoured social platform for professionals. With over 500 million members (300 million active each month) you have to filter in order to connect. Things like a branded company page, identifying employees and a regular posting schedule are essential.

Peeping in
Your website is an open window into your company.
The initial digital impression can work for your benefit or be a disaster. I’ve looked at hundreds of small-cap websites that have the same format. Stock photos, boilerplate text and the same menu options. Show some creativity to improve your conversions.

Googled you
What are the keywords related to your industry and how do you rank for them? Investors often look at big-picture industry information, announcements and trends. If you have specialized products then you should be showing up on the first page of Google and other search engines like Bing and even YouTube.

A strategic approach is key to winning

Join your network
The CEO and Founder need to have a strong digital profile. In addition to the company website, LinkedIn is a great place to start. Optimize the content and give it a real feel.
A Twitter handle is another option (today even the POTUS tweets). The point is to personalize the brand.

Click IR
News flash. No prospective investor is combing through all of those PDFs on your Investor Relations tab. They also won’t read all 47-pages of your whitepaper. Sell the sizzle, not the steak. Re-purpose that content into bite-size chunks of delicious information. A bonus is the content is already regulatory compliant.

Know your analytics
Check your Google Analytics to see which platforms are referring traffic and links to your website. Also, dig into the demographics and interests of the people hitting your site. Determine which pages they come in on and where they exit. This will further validate your avatar and can provide a basis for advertising.

The money’s in the list
Building a huge list of qualified investors is a pot of gold. But first, you have to create an effective funnel. Attract website visitors onto your email list with an irresistible offer. Nurture them with follow-up emails and broadcasts. Lead them to make an investment decision in your favour.

Summary
Today it is harder for small public companies to get attention and raise capital. Social media provides a proven way to create community, engage and activate your audience. Speak directly to the people who care the most about what you’re doing. A weak digital profile puts your company at a disadvantage to competitors who are more active on social platforms.

A strategic approach is key to winning.

Recognize the convergence of traditional roadshows, analyst calls and shareholder meetings with digital marketing. A solid digital marketing strategy is your blueprint.

Use it as your GPS and guide as much traffic as possible to your online properties. This approach will enhance your website, support investor relations and position your brand as a leader in digital communications.

Next steps
Many blockchain and small-cap companies find it cost-effective to outsource this work to a dedicated professional. The time and talent are typically not in-house to make it happen.

What are you waiting for anyway? Social media provides an opportunity to expand your potential investor universe into the millions. Done effectively you can grow your list in the short term and build value in the long run.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] [EXCHANGE] Blockchain.io, Your Gateway to the Internet of Value on: June 29, 2018, 07:29:06 AM
The project has a number of good indicators for todays ICO climate. It is helpful to see the filing has been
registered with the US SEC for Reg D, Exempt Offering of Securities. This is a voluntary step that can head off
potential problems with the project as it builds more public awareness.

Also the business proposition of building an exchange; not a blockchain is one that has more barriers
for competition. This is good as a less crowded field is better for development. Having a cross-functional
team of traditional finance experts and professionals in the crypto-sphere indicates strong capabilities.

The technical team needs to be closely followed and evaluated particularly in light of the high level of security
and redundancy required to build an effective exchange. With the number of hacks and losses occurring on
various exchanges around the world any potential investor would be foolish not to do heavy due diligence in this area.

The idea of managing an exhange that communicates and coordinates across multiple other exhanges
and trading pairs is bold and ambitious. I will review the BCIO Manifesto for more details. Also looking
forward to seeing the Alpha and Beta versions.

I do like the attention to marketing and promotion. Building the hype and buzz through strong community
relations is one of the keys to success for ICOs.

Any news of "reversal of crypto bans" is good PR for the space. Few will read the details and learn this does not mean "come advertise your scammy ICO on Facebook".
Hopefully the approved advertisers won't screw it up.

What are the 5 things that most excite you about blockchain and crypto? Why?
Quote
What really excites me about blockchain and crypto is:
  • 1. The promise of Democratization of wealth
  • 2. Its applications to some very fundamental areas such as governance, charity and humanitarian work. Its ability to change the way we inherently work and do business
  • 3. Its ability to disintermediate, which means processes can become more efficient and quick
  • 4. Fraud-proof capabilities. It is auditable and difficult to tamper with
  • 5. I love how it has fostered such a huge culture of change and entrepreneurship among people who are now using this technology to solve some long-standing issues.
