1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 08, 2018, 10:39:21 PM
"See my procedure for verification that has failed many times due to users not doing the right thing is very user friendly because if you're intelligent you would have got it right and we only want technical people but we also want everyday users". If verification is so user friendly then why haven't we gotten more than ~250 Jumio attestations and why are there so many complaining about failure here and on Reddit?

Just 250 attestations? Where did you get that number? It is a dismally low figure and would indicate a failure in this method of distribution.
The air drop might be expensive, but it creates a buzz around the coin and definitely increases awareness.

Checkout the stats here - https://byteball.fr/heartbeat.php
The number is 267 now, and it hasn't moved in a few days.

I must admit that it has been a failure. I had anticipated much more buzz and participation. Hopefully, we can keep this going and see if things improve closer to an ICO, but I guess it is time for the next experiment/distribution method, if any.

What stops my audience from just claiming the bytes I send them for verification to keep/sell. I can’t just trust every random internet users to completely expose their identity to something new to them

Nothing. It's either a "instadump" for $8 or get verified and get $12. Once you get verified, you want to refer your friends to get those extra $20 (for every person referred). It's just human behavior. Sure, there will be people that will dump $8, are they gonna affect the price or the network? No. Moreover, how many people will you send this to? It's not like you would lose hundreds or thousands. Even if half of your referrals convert, you get your money back and then some more.

No system or distribution method is fool-proof.

i guess most people in the Crypto World prefer to remain private and anonymous.

Sure, if you say so. Those people needn't participate  Roll Eyes

That jumio page says the new system is launching on the Byteball platform today. Can anyone see it integrated in the wallet yet?

I can't get access to my wallet until tomorrow.

Quote
The new Jumio-enabled identity verification feature will be launched on the Byteball platform on 17th January 2017.

You will have to wait until the next version of the wallet is released to see this. I presume the new wallet release and the announcement from Tony will happen at the same time.

Not sure if people realize the gravity of this announcement. This is really huge and a game changer!!

Imagine if people could get verified on Byteball platform (with the verified ID hash stored on DAG) and have control to choose to post your verified identity publicly or privately. What do you think will be the preferred ICO platform for all the new ICOs?

Putting all the pieces together -

# No KYC/AML or regulatory hassles since the participating user's identity can be established and verified,
# Flexibility of accepting ETC, BTC and GB via the ICO-bot,
# No network congestion like the one seen in Ethereum's network during major ICOs (one word - DAG)
# Not just new crypto ICOs, just imagine if Financial Institutions want to issue tokens and comply with KYC/AML regulations, who do you think they would turn to?

# What's the incentive for a user to register on Byteball platform you ask?
         - If they verify their identity once, they can participate in any future ICOs without worrying about the email-registrations, ETH/BTC address white-listing, KYC pre-checks etc. It would just be a simple one-click participation.
         - Still not enough of an incentive you say? Think cashback from the undistributed pool for registering your identity on the platform Wink

As I said before, this is huge and we will see this happen in the coming weeks! Buy as many GB as you can before Tony announces this! Byteball is gonna blow up once people realize how awesome it is, with all of this!

I see no reason for such a fast pump.
No news at all. Better than IOTA in some aspects?

Yes, Byteball is better than IOTA! It run stable and Dev bring great features and this all without hot air and big partners.
The potential for Byteball is big and its undervalued in my eyes.

Disadvantage is that Byteball is IOTA fork and advantage is the smoothest distribution among alts...

Wtf are you talking about? Byteball is NOT a fork of IOTA! Are you trying to increase your post count with such ridiculous posts?

Actually after doing a bit of research I realized that I was wrong. Thanks for correcting me. Is there any serious articles that compare IOTA and Byteball?
I read this article: https://www.tangleblog.com/2017/01/03/byteball-vs-iota-token/

You could start here - https://byteroll.com/comparison-iota and check out the reddit thread mentioned in there. You could also checkout the reddit threads on r/ByteBall/, if you aren't on slack already. The sub-reddit moderator usually posts all relevant articles.

There was a discussion about this yesterday in #announcements channel on slack, for anyone interested.

Its hard to get into slack, the link in the first post still doesn't work. Most Byteball users are not in the slack, but I think a majority would welcome a unit change.

The auto-invites are disabled due to the overwhelming spam couple of months back. The OP will be updated with the new invite page, when it is ready. You can still DM cryptkeeper here and ask for a manual invite. The slack URL is byteball.slack.com
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 10, 2017, 11:06:01 AM
Agree with the unit change to MB. I think the leading zeros argument by Tony just doesn't hold (and if we go by that argument,  0.001GB or 0.0001GB give aways for cashbacks, via emails are just as confusing!). If we want real world adoption and easy to understand units (along with attracting some of the newer crypto adopters), we should switch to MB (and perhaps to KB at a later time). People who trade are careful enough to calculate the amounts before they trade, and aren't concerned about the leading zeros. And there are good examples - IOTA, Ripple, that have leading zeros and are still doing well.

Since majority of the community sees this as a much needed move, lets switch to MBs, or better yet, put this up for vote via the poll bot!

There was a discussion about this yesterday in #announcements channel on slack, for anyone interested.

The tech on this project seems great but I am a big NOOB to crypto and I've been trying for 3 days to get some of this.
Don't know about the other methods of buying but if you point me to one which is working I will have a shot!

If you are on slack, slack username ron was looking to sell around 1000GB otc for bittrex price. You can DM him to do an OTC trade for as much GBYTE as you want. Check #trading channel for the conversation. If you are not on slack already, DM cryptkeeper here for an invite.

Otherwise, Bittrex has the most volume, so your best bet is to wait for the wallet maintenance to be over and send your funds there. There was a new wallet released today, so bittrex might be updating theirs and is down for maintenance. There have been cases in the past where they were down for non-mandatory maintenance for around 24 hours (not just Byteball, but other wallets too). So it is anyone's guess as to when they would be back up again. Just keep an eye out.

Alternatively, you could also place an open bid on cryptochangex.com (an exchange run by a community member) and see if it gets filled (although the volume on it is relatively low, but you never know).

Good luck!

any idea what time bots will restart, getting error [object Event] and error 502.
thanks
Not to be repetitive, but this error is a hub error as far as I can tell. If you switch to Byteball Cashback Witness hubs, your problem may be solved. See a few posts above in this thread
not solved, tried hubs, byteball.fr/bb, west.byteball.us/bb, east.byteball.us/bb, byteball.wang/bb error: unexpected server response 502 occur every time, any idea anyone? when will default bots will restart?

Just wait for a few hours. Tony is online on slack and might be busy working on a fix (for the issues reported post-release).
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ALTS are the NEXT BIG THING? Add your Valid suggestion here now >>>>> POLL on: December 09, 2017, 10:15:19 AM
So Anton "#tonchy" Churyumoff of Byteball keept word. Sending Byteball over email is possible . Except he overdid it in all the best way!

He released it as Byteball 2.0 with "textcoin" feature . https://medium.com/byteball/sending-cryptocurrency-to-email-5c9bce22b8a9

In the linked text you will find this gem:

When the sender is on a mobile phone and switches to “Share via message” tab (see the screenshot above), he is  able to use all the options available through the phone’s standard “Share” menu: text message, Telegram, WhatsApp, WeChat, Signal, Viber, Slack, Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc. The recipient receives the same link, but through a chat app.

Sorry, I got a bit excited there

This is what makes Byteball the best crypto in the market, by far. Active development, Constant influx of new features and great community in addition to the great tech. It just lacks in marketing and exposure, and when that checkbox is checked, it will be in the top 10. It is just a matter of time before that happens.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH mining rig. Buy or Build? on: November 03, 2017, 03:31:04 PM
I would advise against mining right now, instead invest in your favorite altcoins/BTC.

But if you do want to go ahead with mining, go with building your own one. There are enough videos and tutorials to help you with building a mining rig. If you buy a rig, you are just helping the sellers make easy money for literally very little effort.

What is this??
Some small event the developer of Byteball is participating in and talking a bit about his invention.Great! Spread the word, this is good.
But do you really think this will make any big difference in terms of the price??
I say no!
The big guys will continue playing with byteball. When they think it's time to pump, they will pump. When it's time to dump they will dump. If they wanna keep the price low and tight, that's what you'll have to deal with. If you like it or not.
DAG or not, won't make any significant difference in terms of value for quite some time imo.
So this "mic drop"-thing is just plain dumb and embarrassing.

Are you generally this sour in life? Do you think just in terms of the "price"? Don't you believe in showcasing a project/product/company at a meetup like this and getting exposure among the startup and investor community? Have you ever founded or been a founding member of a startup or atleast attended any such conferences? Do you know how the networking at these startup/business events works? Do you know how many investors and entrepreneurs attend these? Do you know how many developers go to these events to find out more about latest innovations and technologies and are looking to be a part of the innovative startups?

Who said anything about the price? If you don't understand the bigger picture, just ask! Just don't embarrass yourself further! If you still don't get it and want to know more, just dm me!

How many GB have been paid out in the cash back program so far?

Here is the quote from Tony on the cashback address -

...
Cashbacks will come from this address https://explorer.byteball.org/#TU3Q44S6H2WXTGQO6BZAGWFKKJCF7Q3W
...

You can keep tabs on the # of cashback transactions and the amounts.

Will there be an October distribution round?

Read the first post on the first page.
Read the website (byteball.org)

I cannot understand why are blackbytes so cheap. ZEC, XMR are flying.
At the end of airdrops their price must skyrocket (at least i'm betting on it)

Yep. It doesn't have to be at the end of the airdrops, it could be much earlier (as soon as people see a use case - either merchant payments or some other form of payment). Keep accumulating if you can afford to.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 21, 2017, 07:57:20 PM
When can we expect next airdrop?
and is it true that rewards are getting reduced

Check out the very first post on the very first page of this thread. Both your questions will be answered.
