41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 08:55:48 AM
Thank you mikaelh for developing this client!
After doing its thing for 1½ hours, I found one block w/ Win x64 build, i5-2500k @ ~5000pps

I'm also running 5 instances of DigitalOcean VPS' (the cheapest ones), they seem to mine with 300-1000pps.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] [FASTER!] Mining PrimeCoin using DigitalOcean (VPS) on: July 13, 2013, 09:58:35 AM
Found this little bash script from reddit
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/5987007

It show your balance, recent transactions and pps, just like the command:
Code:
watch 'primecoind listtransactions & primecoind getmininginfo'

Simpe guide for using it in user's home directory
Code:
cd
wget https://gist.github.com/anonymous/5987007/raw/5f92a73e579f448a1af0e7b40ec45974e54ab4c9/miningstats.sh
chmod +x ./miningstats.sh
watch ./miningstats.sh

And the script outputs like this:
Code:
[+] Your balance is: 0.00000000
[+] Recent transactions are (amount / state)
15.79000000 - orphan
[+] You're currently mining at 149 pps

I always get this when I try compiling.  Any tips?

URCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/init.d -o obj/init.o init.cpp
g++: internal compiler error: Killed (program cc1plus)
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.7/README.Bugs> for instructions.
make: *** [obj/init.o] Error 4

I was facing the same problem, found a solution from here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=110627.msg1204122#msg1204122

You'll need a bit of swap Wink
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=64M count=16
sudo mkswap /swapfile
sudo swapon /swapfile
After compiling, remove swap:
Code:
sudo swapoff /swapfile
sudo rm /swapfile

For myself, this did the trick just fine

Thank you rethaw for the easy tutorial (and the $10 free credit code). Just set up a few Droplets, let's see what they can do.
BTW, what's your XPM address? I'd tip you some Wink

EDIT:
Speed reports:
1st Droplet: 28pps
2nd Droplet: 70pps

49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on XE on: June 11, 2013, 11:05:47 AM
Really nice! I use XE every now and then but for quick currency calculations I use Google, for example: "1 usd to eur" ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=1+usd+to+eur ).
Let's see when we can search for "1 xbt to eur" Smiley
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will be used to pay employees? on: June 11, 2013, 09:19:54 AM
Also a Finnish software company SC5 has an option for its employees to receive their salary in Bitcoin.
http://sc5.io/blog/2013/03/sc5-pays-salaries-in-bitcoin/
Cool. Do they officially report their salary payments for tax and everything? Here in the Netherlands, there was a recent public statement from our minister of Finance that salary paid in Bitcoin is subject to taxes, just like salary in euros or other currencies. Which is a good thing, cause it only helps Bitcoin getting more mainstream and generally accepted as money.
Yeah, it's stated in that blog entry Smiley
"The euro amount to be converted into Bitcoins is deducted from the net salary (after taxes) on the employee’s paycheck, similarly as the Finnish lunch vouchers."

If I recall correctly, there's no official statement yet from the Finnish Tax Administration regarding taxation of virtual currencies. Better to be safe than sorry Smiley

Really sleek interface, I like it a lot Smiley
Points for the built-in browser, it's really handy. No need to launch a separate browser just for reading short tweets.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets get www.fairphone.com to ship with Bitcoin Software Preloaded! on: May 31, 2013, 12:11:06 PM
This will so be my next phone, I absolutely love the idea behind it.
Though I'm not sure if it's a great idea to bundle Bitcoin client with the phone. Of course it would be a great way to promote Bitcoin but I think the majority of paying customers wouldn't appreciate pre-installed "unessential" software on their phone, which they may conciser useless to them. Or at least I hate when new devices come with bloatware which I cannot uninstall.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC Price in 45Day Poll on: May 31, 2013, 11:47:32 AM
it will go down.  it is fighting the inflation.  future inflation is guaranteed.  future demand is speculative.  if you cna find reasons that demand will increase faster than the rate of future inflation then price will go up.

ppcoin currently has the lowest inflation rate (20~30% annual) among all altcoins, only second to bitcoin (~10% annual).

Look at that real DEV who is on the case,

do you seen why this coin is going places

also I really like  http://www.ppcoin.org/

love the map at the back etc
Isn't that a map of the 3 islands in GTA 3? Lol

Actually, GTA IV. I always thought there was something familiar with the background... Cheesy
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] eMunie (EMU) - NOT a BitCoin fork/clone - call for beta testers on: May 31, 2013, 07:44:20 AM
Really glad to see new innovation. I really hope it will be truly open-source, unlike Ripple kind of open-source.
On a marketing point of view, the current name does not seem to sell well. How about having the word "green" in some part of it? It could be associated with green dollar bills and green efficiency.
56  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Mt Gox Yubikey code on: July 25, 2012, 04:06:30 PM
I received an email today from MtGox, saying I'm eligible for one free Yubikey.
I'm happy with my Google Authenticator so I'm willing to sell this code for 2.5 BTC, in case you are still interested buying one Smiley
57  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] BTC Trader - open source charting and technical analysis application on: August 03, 2011, 10:26:06 AM
Looking good! Really good alternative for Sierra Charts. Smiley
I would like to see mtgox' websocket implemented in this. See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MtGox/API#Websocket_API

Keep up the good work!
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitClip: We want your ideas! Enter our concept design contest today! on: July 12, 2011, 12:40:32 PM
Great project idea, I'm supporting this Smiley

I was thinking for as a security measure if the password is typed wrong many times, the device would lock itself and transfer all the bitcoins to a certain pre-defined address, which is configured in the device.

Just a thought.

There's also Google Authenticator, a one-time password generator client for mobile phones.
See http://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/

I'd appreciate if someone could hint about this to the same thread as OP pointed. Thanks.
