I didnt expect a -11 percent on the day halving will take place 90 or something blocks to go

Why not?  People who mined for the sole purpose of selling quickly to purchase other coins have no obligation to do so before the rewards adjustment.  I would give this a few days to see how it settles out.

I am just happy to have exceeded my mining goal while only bringing about 250mH/s to the game.

Anyone know how far we are away from the mining reward halving? TIA

123 blocks as of 2:13 EDT.  About 2 hours away.

During the 1st Halving the Price Increased from 1000 Sat to 5000 Sat

2nd Halving = 1000 Sat with no Movement at all

It has not happened yet.  Not sure that there will be a telegraphed movement prior to the fact or if any movement will be delayed a bit.

A fair point you have made.  However...

The issue here is not where the highest valuation can be, it is where it tends to gravitate towards.  There is little doubt that many who were mining SIGT when profits were significantly higher than ETH mining were doing so to turn the coin over into ETH.  And... when they did, that caused a wave of selling.  And, do not forget that when SIGT was 4000, it was both very brief and at a time when BTC was NOT in the mid 4000's USD.

My point is, SIGT hit quickly with strong daily mining profits and that invited the opportunity to SELL SIGT and roll over into more stable and mature coins.  That will cease to be the case in just a few hours.

This is just one part of the equation, but it is the part that, at least for the last 30K blocks, explains where SIGT can only seem to get about 20% above ETH mining returns before it finds a ceiling in value.

If someone is always there to sell just a little higher than what they want to roll into, SIGT cannot advance.  That opportunity will likely be gone in just a few hours and within a few days we will see what happens when these short term traders no longer can profit from their quick selling.

Well said...

I have traded stocks for a long time.  I am used to people shorting stocks and, along with their short position, starting a campaign of negativism, FUD and insults designed to drive investors away in order to directly gain financially from their taunting and incessant bad-mouthing.

However, I am not aware of any way to short a cryptocurrency.

My only conclusion is that you do this because you are simply an asshole.
oh really? you must be a genius

Almost.  Non-verbal in the mid 140's.

Spotting an asshole on a message board?  I am so far to the right of the bell curve it is ludicrous.

Cheesy Cheesy You guys are really pathetic, so sad

I can tell you 1 thing, in 3 hours there will be no moon, nothing will happen

I can tell you one thing that is an absolute certainty about SIGT once the 60K block is passed...

Those who are mining it because it is marginally more profitable than ETH and who are cashing in their SIGT every day and buying ETH will not be able to do that anymore... UNLESS...

...the value of SIGT heads for 2200 and maintains that level.

There is solid reason to believe that the constant selling pressure from these people will abate when profitability drops off, and it will not become an issue again until SIGT roughly doubles in value OR the difficulty factor becomes so low with miners leaving the coin that blocks are being solved in half the time.

Wouldn't this logic have held true the last time Sigt halved?  If I recall correctly, Sigt was trading around 4,000 Satoshi's pre-halving and then just tumbled while the price of BTC simultaneously shot up.

BTW...

I want to thank the fudsters and naysayers for their role in scaring people away.  Three weeks ago it appeared that my goal for my modest mining rigs (12 cards total) would NOT be reached.  Now, I am happy to report that I will EXCEED my projected mining numbers by about 15%.

Could not have done it without you.  And chances are, if you are a fudster, you couldn't have either.

please, do not mine SIGS with nova

we have been testing it, comparing with yiimp - same rigs, same room, same internet - 24 hours straight

nova paying 23-24% less then WTM predicts  Angry Angry
yiimp paying 8-9% less then WTM predicts

I was also noticing the discrepancy between short term predictions and actual results.  For 5 days I was running a 'hot' version of krnlx ccminer and was getting about 30% LESS than the average predicted return.  Then I switched to the SLOWER (at least in reported hashrate at the miner) palginmod version and... hmmm... got within about 5%.  All with Suprnova.  How could it be that I could give up about 12% in reported (rhymes with purported) krnlx hashrate with palginmod, yet end up with a 20% increase in coins?

I still think someone should take all of these mods and check them out for any potential network traffic that might be a tad unsuspected.

So, I am getting pretty close to WTM with palginmod running on my work desktop, while two rigs are running CWI.

Buyorders are getting very small... We will be back to 600 sato soon!

I'm calling donkey squeeze on that comment.

One large 5 digit sell order and the rest are nothing.

Multiple 5 digit buy orders.

Right now, 30k of the big sell has been gobbled up or cancelled.

Maybe you failed to notice that SOME of the 'sell orders' are stacked up at the bottom of the pile at INSANE values -

1000.00000000   2.00000000   2000.00000000   119266.18768177
1799.00000000   3.00000000   5397.00000000   124663.18768177
2000.00000000   2092.34381842   4184687.63684000   4309350.82452177
3398.00000000   35.00000000   118930.00000000   4428280.82452177
10000.00000000   2.00000000   20000.00000000   4448280.82452177
500000.00000000   851.47201828   425736009.14000000   430184289.96452177
800000.00000000   0.00414000   3312.00000000   430187601.96452177
1000001.00003001   3.00000000   3000003.00009003   433187604.96461177
100000000.00000000   0.00000001   1.00000000   433187605.96461177

That's where most of your purported sell volume is located.  Hell... I will sell all of my SIGT if I can get 10 BTC a piece for them too.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine - Cryptopia on: August 28, 2017, 03:01:35 PM
I think SIGT will increase in value with the next reward halving.

Why?  Because miners will mine it to OWN it as opposed to mining to to turn it over into another coin.  At least they will not mine it for short term trade value at CURRENT levels.

I first mined it because it was more profitable than ETH at the time.  I was planning on mining for a day, then if ETH was worth less in terms of my mining capabilities, selling it to buy ETH.

So, let's just play the game mentally.  I mine SIGT when it was bringing in 12-13 dollars per rig per day as opposed to 10 per day in ETH.  Easy call for someone with only short term goals.  And, as long as SIGT pays more than ETH it would attract miners whose only intent is to SELL.  Once the selling has overwhelmed the market, SIGT dives to around 7 bucks a day per rig.  At that level, nobody would choose to mine SIGT as a proxy for ETH.  The difficulty drops and the selling stops.  And, Warren Buffet's adage about the markets rewarding the patient and punishing the impatient could once again be proven true.

At halving, the daily rewards are going to get crushed at first.  NOBODY will entertain the thought of mining SIGT as a proxy for another coin.  UNLESS... the coin's value roughly doubles.  And, given the absence of sellers, a doubling is not at all out of the question.

BTW, my goal was to mine SIGT exclusively for the first 60k blocks.  Almost there.  Will reevaluate at that point in time based upon how the coin value responds after the initial shock of the halving.

Im dissapointed of this coin... actually have 300k+ coins and thinking about big sell and go away for this "coin"... if price go 1000 sats i will dump it.

And I am the starting tight end for the New England Patriots.

Here's the 'tell'.

You used the word 'actually'.  Nobody uses that word to describe something they know is true unless they are defending themselves in some manner.  Ie., you're lying.  And notice that I did not say you are actually lying.

Hi,

Im mining with 54 mh/s but I get only ~ 55 coins a day.

What to mine shows more is that normal ?

Also the mh/s from the workerscreen is different ?!

Calculators always show more than what you will get. If you subtract 20-40% you will be more correct, at least you won't overcalculate.

I thought that was true as well.  I was getting about 200-220 coins per day on 245 Mh/s of mining.  Then I stopped using the krnlx version of ccminer and went with the palginmod version.  Immediately things got better.  Then I signed up for the CWI beta.

On 8/16 I topped 450 coins.  When the difficulty jumped a bit I might get only 250.  Today I am already at 256 and will probably be over 300 my the time the day is over.

Ie., the 30-35% 'correction' that I was thinking was a foregone conclusion seemed to sort of vanish when I stopped using the krnlx version.  Not sure what is up with it, but if I were a suspicious person I would maybe want to see if there was any unsuspected outbound network traffic coming from it.

All of the broken image links at the shopping site are not exactly helping matters...

Frankly, if the shopping site is ever to be meaningful, they need to implement the same things that eBay has conditioned us to expect.  At a bare minimum that would be the ability to search items and protection programs for both buyer and seller.

Would not surprise me to learn that the weakness in SIGT relates directly to the appearance and function of the marketplace site.

If the coin is to succeed, at this point that success has to be based upon something of much broader appeal than a small marketplace website.

It has done well so far as a trade vehicle.  Strength in ETH this morning is likely evidence of that.  My guess is that SIGT gains are once again flowing to ETH.  Good news is, those who continue to invest only electricity for SIGT will benefit from the lower price as miners will point their rigs to a more profitable currency.

I am mining and holding.  However, I am not at all smitten with the marketplace at this juncture.  I do not see how a 5 million USD valuation can derive much of its value from it.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine - Cryptopia on: August 20, 2017, 01:26:01 PM
This coin used to be promising with higher profitability than ETH at one time

Goodbye for now. I already sold all my 12k SIGT @ 3800 sat before the halving

My initial plan was to buyback before the 2nd halving. I may not do it now because of the rift between the Devs and Marketing Team

Just the fact that crowetic (burstcoin scandal) was part of the Team and the Dev Doc cursed a lot (youtube live interview) scared the hell out of me

You are right.  And that higher profit early on was due to higher rewards per block.

Right now, SIGT and ETH are running neck and neck (Nvidia).  If you take the time to think about it, that makes perfect sense.  When SIGT runs higher profit than ETH, ETH miners switch over to get SIGT then immediately sell it in order to buy ETH.  That means SIGT will almost always stay around the same return as ETH.

However, when the next halving takes place, that relationship will only remain if SIGT has returned to around 3300.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the ends of block 60K.

One thing is for sure, the fact that SIGT is neck and neck with ETH sort of makes you look like a Chicken Little.  All SIGT has to do it rally over 1700 and it is ONCE AGAIN more profitable than ETH.

Unfortunately I have followed the instructions for mining SIGT through a mining pool with GPU on this website:

http://cryptovore.com/2017/07/19/how-to-mine-signatum-sigt/

but it seems that it is not working, as soon as I run the signatumminer.bat file I get an error message.

"WARNING: GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS is not specified!"

I have already changed the setting of "setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT" to a "5" which  is a very low number but same error. Any missing instructions on the webpage that I didn't follow?

What miner are you using and what GPU(s) are you running?  You need to tell us more before anyone can know enough to even start to help.

From the website, the name of the miner says "Download the SGminer for Signatum (SIGT)" and GEForce 710M on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop.

I would try ccminer.  There is a recent version called ccminer-x64-2.2  That is a good one.  I would steer clear of the krnlx versions.  They seemed to overpromise and underdeliver.

You might also try suprnova as your pool.  They have a pretty easy way to get ccminer set up.

Good luck.

Wow I just figured it out,

People say its a shitcoin,
Dump coin,
Signatum SOON DEAD,
Stop talking shit. Signatum is never going to moon,

The Answer..
( all so the price will drop because they want to buy it cheap
because they know the price will rise )

Buyers of houses, cars and anything else that is negotiable always talk about how bad the condition is...  It is sellers who talk about nothing but good things.

Last 15 pages of this thread is like a guided tour in a museum of amateurism. Unbelievable, how many mentally-challenged individuals whattomine has attracted. Manipulating this crowd will be a cakewalk for veteran pumpers. With sell orders set at three different price points this will be the easiest dump ever. I will just sit back, relax & profit  Cool

By the way, any idea when can we expect the next halving? It would be nice to have a single piece of useful information in this sea of spam.

It's not exactly rocket surgery to estimate when it gets to 60K.

Since you are such a wise and seasoned pro at this, I am a bit shocked that you would posit your query to such a rambling bunch of amateurs.

what gpu are you using to mine this coin?

or maybe its good to buy and hold this or start mining to any one suggest please?

If you are going to mine it, start doing it about an hour ago.  The difficulty is increasing and there are under 27,000 blocks left to mine before the reward rate per block is cut in half.

Nvidia cards are better at this than AMD.  If you use Nvidia, the latest version of ccminer works well.  The file is labeled ccminer-x64-2.2 and it extracts to an .exe file that is 16,997,408 bytes.  There are a few other small files too.  I mention this only because there is ANOTHER 2.2 version that runs a lot slower.

Right now, it is the latest release at https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases and was released on 8/13.

If you run AMD cards I am somewhat clueless.
