why is the difficulty and hashrate skyrocketing?

Adoption? Also the CPU miners have gotten more efficient and GPU's have got on-board.

Windows is definitely truncating the input you've typed - we'll figure it out and fix that within a day or two:)

Unfortunately someone swiped the prize already: http://monerochain.info/tx/3b6eacf65a4c87b281bd2feef76486867fb6cd474f1e0d5e312e8ed7301b5e29

Fast work, whoever that was!

Aww bummer, oh well. Good job who ever that was.

PS. If you've made it this far, there's a reward in the example wallet listed in the screenshot - first to grab it gets the prize!

I'v been looking for something like this! Thank you
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Sending transactions with multiple chains? on: June 11, 2013, 07:20:06 PM
How is this possible without the need to download multiple clients to a sever? I want to be able to communicate with and push transactions to any blockchain (altcoin) without committing to the storage space. Is there any api solution out there? This seems to be a pretty big barrier for web development.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][LTC] Online Litecoin wallet - LTC-Wallet.com on: June 11, 2013, 07:08:57 PM
Is there any plans for this project to provide an api to allow transactions with just the private hex similar to blockchian.info? I can't seem to find any litecoin service that is willing to do this.
Yes, we have this in mind. There will be new features around paper wallets and private keys.
However we don't currently have plans on implementing API access.

Lame. Ok, well thank you for your response. I didn't want to be bothered with running a full litecoin client just to push transactions to the chain, this is a huge barrier to overcome for web developers. Massive amounts of storage is required to work with multiple chains, there has to be a better solution.

So in reality it is not bitcoins but bitcoin IOUs on your service, right?

Well I would think of it more like a spending trigger for any normal bitcoin wallet, it's just an easy way to interact with the blockchain api without an account or internet. Eventually an import private key function will be added so you can generate your own addresses and just import and spend offline. Possibly an option to register your phone number to a public key that so that no private key information would be handled by the service, but they could receive bitcoin by sms with no fee to them.

Wait, so you can only send your full balance?

Yes at the moment that's the only option, but this project is still in development and balance control and other features will be implemented soon! My system allows the recipient to send their newly acquired bitcoin straight to a public key or another cellphone after 3 confirmations completely offline. Eventually there will be an import private key function so 100% offline usage is achieved. For now you need to get bitcoin onto the deposit address somehow, and that would likely involve a computer transaction, but once it's loaded you can send bitcoin anywhere with cell service. If you receive bitcoins by this method you have no need for internet or a smartphone which I think can help lower the barrier of entry into bitcoin.

So an example of a useful scenario would be if you wanted to buy/sell a local item on Kijiji, in the countryside, and neither party wants to disclose where they live. So they decide to meet up at a public location that may not have an internet connection, the buyer would come prepared with bitcoin loaded on thier deposit address, and when the buyer feels satisfied with the item they would send bitcoin to the sellers phone, the seller can move that bitcoin after 3 confirmations to another phone number or public address completely independent of a need for a smartphone or internet connection.

Multiple transactions can be received before they are sent somewhere, aslong as the datasize of the transaction does not excited the 0.0007 fee.

Decentralizing a currency and then having products only available to a select few really defeats the purpose.

Thanks for checking it out! I hope to spread this to other countries, but I would like to know there would be some traffic before I commit to the number. If there's any interest out there please pipe up!

I think it could be very useful for local trades where a public meeting place like starbucks is not a suitable location, but it defiantly has the potential to be useful for all types of situations.

My dad eventually figured it out how to use it without me coaching him though it, I thought that was a pretty good sign!

Interesting idea, how do I get a balance onto my phone?

For now you would need a computer for that part of the transaction, but eventually I will integrate an import private key function so 100% offline functionality can be achieved. At the moment think of it kind of like a sling shot, you need to load it, but once it's armed you can shoot and receive bitcoin from anywhere with cell service. I think it could be very useful for local trades, but it defiantly has the potential to be useful for all types of situations.

My dad eventually figured it out how to use it without me having to be with him in person, I thought that was a pretty good sign!

Cool, how come you can't specify an amount to send and keep re-using the service with a balance?

I am only using  the blockchain api to preform a transaction with the private key without a wallet so there is no central wallet. It doesn't allow for more advanced address management but I have ambitions to develop this project to that point of control. This is very much in it's beta stage but fully functional from a bare-bones perspective.

Thanks for checking it out! I hope to spread this to other countries, but I would like to know there would be some traffic before I commit to the number. If there's any interest out there please pipe up!
