2  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping Bitcoin Price High on: June 15, 2013, 10:02:51 PM
I'm trying to think of ways to have Bitcoin keep its value, instead of always fluctuating up and down.  As far as I know, it rises because lots of people buy coins, and once it hits a certain point, someone decides to sell a large amount, so the price drops a little bit, causing everyone else to sell, dropping the price lots.  It falls down, until it hits a low enough value that people wish to "buy back in", and then the price begins to rise again, and the cycle repeats.

My idea is that instead of waiting for the price to rise to sell coins, wait for the price to rise to buy something with coins.  Go to coingig, or bitcoinstore, and find an item that you want, and tell yourself "When Bitcoin hits 120$ (or any price), I'm going to buy this item instead of selling to an exchange.".

I think that this would help keep the price stable, as well as distribute the coins more, instead of keeping them all locked up in an exchange.

EDIT::  My knowledge of economics is minimal, so I could be way off.
i think your right, otherwise how will bitcoin ever stabilise.

Out of disgust at the beheading of a British soldier in London i went on an EDL march.

Do you do that whenever a white man murders someone?
This was not a murder it was a statement.

it is not for the troop to decide he is simply doing as he is told in the name of queen and country.

"Just following orders," eh?

isnt that what they are programmed to do once enlisted.

Maybe everyone gets to vote! massive voting system an all major issues, lets not have a Government because that implies we need governing like inmates, What we need is an administration to get done what the voters demand.
Brave new world based on a tamper proof voting system.

thanks to everyone who has commented, i think your all pretty much right we don't live with the terror in the uk that it plaguing a lot of the world
>Elwar
i am proud to say yes i did support and continue to support our troops, regardless of whether or not its a just a right cause, it is not for the troop to decide he is simply doing as he is told in the name of queen and country. These people put their lives on the line everyday not just abroad but at home as well in the sad case of Lee Rigby
Also its worth mentioning that its not just british forces that deserve respect and admiration, the forces from all over the world work tirelessly for their countries.
Patriots or Terrorists ? someone said earlier in this post it depends on which side of the argument you are looking from.

firstly i have to thank everyone who shared their opinion with me, i knew this was the place to get a "real view" from some proper people.
i think the overall feeling is that whether its on our street or on a street in Palestine violence and fascism should not be tolerated whatever mask it wears or whatever excuse it hinds behind.

Out of disgust at the beheading of a British soldier in London i went on an EDL march.
The police and onlookers branded me a racist! i am NOT a racist.
And i wholeheartedly agree we should look at the reasons for these atrocities both at home and abroad but are our boys not fighting to protect the innocent people of the middle east against the oppression of normal people like you and me by sharia law and fundamental Islam that really is thousands of years old old has no place in a civilized modern society.

i think this is why i am growing to love bitcoin, straight to the person without having to be filtered through all the borders and redtape bullshit

LONG LIVE BITCOIN. A STEP TOWARDS A NEW WORLD.

Hello all, i am new here and indeed to bitcoin having only heard the word 10 weeks ago, but i have to say i am very excited for the future,
The only hickup so far is spending it, i keep mentioning it to everyone and get the standard "what" even charities i have contacts with are scratching thier heads.
I think its being looked at all wrong, its not about collecting, trading and earning millions its about spending and getting the btc economy on the move, a cup of coffe, loaf of bread, fill my car up etc, this needs to be useable to succeed or surely we all end up with a load of useless digicash.
A very good friend of mine is raising money for an african charity and i tried to sponsor with btc outcome they all think im mad, surely thats the point p2p ne fee, no banks, no messing, from you to the man in the field to buy some rice.
