Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still not big at all, and thus not expensive (IMO) here is why:

I think it's funny how over the years I've told the same people that you can buy very small portions of bitcoins but they still ask me. Especially now that they hit 10k. I guess the mainstream news was all over that. People love when things hit arbitrary numbers. Woop dee doo lol. Durp.
I just hate seeing these fools coming in looking for "cheap coins for under $1" . Buy a small amount if bitcoin. Or earn it. Don't just buy some infinite supply shitcoin.
Just like two days ago I was explaining Bitcoin to some friends and one of them told me that: 10,000 is too expensive, I will wait until it go down so I can buy 1.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My experience with btc so far.

I wanted to see what all this BTC was about from watching videos I was told the transactions were instant and that this would be the currency of the future... well I am kind of disappointed come to find out that it is in fact not instant... I have been waiting over 4 hours for this transaction to confirm to play some poker and by that time I can't even register to the tournament I wanted anymore because the priced dropped and the tournament is over.
Puuuurfect...
And not only that but the fees you need to pay just to send a little amount makes it really impractical and I doubt this will be considered a currency anytime soon unless something changes.
Using Bitcoin in the poker world or sports betting will be the norm soon I think, but what you say is correct, fee is becoming a problem, and when you are looking for a quick deposit to a website, you will need to pay more fees. By the way, I am not sure if you used a service like Advcash top up, or did you send a manual payment? If the latter, the delay could also be due to the poker website which needs to credit your account manually, once they receive the transaction? Just a thought, I think the problem could be that. Just contact their customer service to know if Bitcoin payments are credited manually or automatically by their system. Otherwise, 4 hours is a bit too long I think. Last time I send a payment in Bitcoin to Fairlay, it was credited withing an hour.

what if bitcoin is unstopable on your country? what do you feel and what is you reaction? everyone knows that bitcoin is so valueable and it is a high currency Some countries will ban Bitcoin and other countries will try to profit from it, it 's always been like this. Moving to Malta would be no big deal for me, or at least open a bank account there. It is true that places of residence with real freedom are becoming less and less in this world, sad.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't forget about SegWit!
|
on: December 01, 2017, 10:52:29 AM
|
After browsing different social media I've noticed that Bcash shills and anti-bitcoiners in general use the same old argument: "Bitcoin is the worst coin because it can handle only 3 transactions per second due to 1 MB blocks, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum are superior because they have bigger blocks". But with activation of SegWit, which happened more than 3 months ago, it is no longer true - the block size can be as big as 4 MB already, although on practice it will be closer to 2 MB when most of the transactions will switch to SegWit. When translated to transactions per second, the theoretical maximum has increased by the factor of ~2.4 You can often hear from altcoin supporters that Bitcoin is a dinosaur and is valuable only because it was first, but SegWit is a great example that developers work on improving Bitcoin, and unlike altcoins that just mindlessly increase their blocksize while ignoring the potential issues for decentralization, SegWit increased efficiency of Bitcoin's blockchain and made possible the Lightning Network which may completely solve the scaling problem.
Yes Segwit2x is very necessary at this stage, with the demand increasing, this fork should happen soon or later to solve some of the problems you mentioned (biggest problem was a few weeks ago when loads of transactions were stuck on the blockchain). However, I have not read any news regarding this hard fork, it was postponed but no date is known for now. Probably early 2018.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is selling BTC foolish because there are forks?
|
on: November 28, 2017, 03:29:36 AM
|
What's funny and ironic is lots of people are scared of these forks, and the more forks we see, the higher Bitcoin price rises. Go figure... My opinion: those who bought Bitcoin and only Bitcoin should be fine, some companies sell the new coins and aim to credit the users with more Bitcoin. Actually, I reckon the more we see forks in the game, and the more people will become aware of these manipulation attempts and will decide to hold their Bitcoin. I mean after ten, twenty, fifty forks, only a fool will still believe these forks genuinely want to improve Bitcoin and change the game for the better. You can try to go for it but don't be surprised if you get burned.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Liza?

I received an email from Yobit about this Bitcoin Liza. My first thought was, is this another bitcoin fork? since the name was Bitcoin Liza and again derived from Bitcoin. So anybody knows about it? Is this really another fork? Well, whatever it is, for sure it's another bitcoin wannabe. Forks now are big jokes, they just make fun of it and destroy the true essence of fork for bitcoin. By the way, I just noticed that naming these bitcoin wannabees right now are getting worse. You are right, this is becoming a bit ludicrous and damaging the image of the original Bitcoin in my opinion. Cannot get much information on Liza though. Yobit is a reputable exchange, I am very surprised they list this coin, looks like this is still an official fork at this stage. What's the point? Apart from trying to make money on "air" I am not sure...

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the use of Bitcoin increasing?
|
on: November 27, 2017, 11:05:02 AM

Banking institutions, law enforcement agencies, business leaders, Governments and many others call Bitcoin ‘illegal.’ But then - Why is the use of Bitcoin increasing?
Hi Nancy. While you look at countries calling it "illegal " (Nepal, Morocco... ) I personally look at countries calling it legal (Japan) or regulating it (South Korea taxing transactions), or willing to regulate it (Australia), or countries with a friendly approach to Bitcoin (Singapore). To this day, sure the price reached 10k but 10k is just a number that can't be looked at without perspective. What matters is supply and demand. This is only the beginning... Bitcoin is still very far from being mass adopted. Do you, Nancy, believe the demand for Bitcoin will decrease in the future? Or increase? Answer this question and act accordingly (buy or sell). Exciting times!!

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?
OMG! This post was made almost 6.5 years ago. Had anyone said back then that Bitcoin would reach prices of $10,000 per coin, then he could have been branded as a lunatic. And I am sure that 99% of the holders in 2011 didn't had the patience to hold on to their coins for six years. Yeah 99% or even 99.9%, that was the point of my post earlier that was taken too literally. I hope those guys back in 2011 made a shit load of money anyway. But still must be hard to swallow if you sold at $1000 when the price reached $10.000 a few years later. Let's look at the present... and the future. And see what year 2027 says. Please quote me in ten years time IMO price will be either zero or above 100,000. Not an advice, just my personal opinion.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does Hyper-inflation affect price of bitcoin?
|
on: November 27, 2017, 10:30:31 AM
|
Increase in demand, value and price BTC etc. But some how there is always a conservative definition from every financial genius that inflation is occurring.
Well, what I know is that in countries with big inflations, a lot of people will be tempted to buy gold and Bitcoin. A fiat money loses value with inflation, digital currencies becomes more valuable compared to fiat ones. What's interesting with cryptos is that they are strictly finite, and because they are finite, inflation does not apply to them, quite the opposite, they are deflationary. Hence the massive rise of Bitcoin price lately? Think about it...

Don't forget the resistance, many investors put their sell orders at 10,000 or 9,900. The rise has been so quick these last few months that I am expecting a correction (even below 8,000 is possible).
What we need to know also is if Segwit2x will be planned again soon?
Bitcoin needs to evolve, soon or later. This is my opinion.

No, BTG is a funny forked coin, i am not a fan of altcoin forked from Bitcoin, i do feel that they are just grabbing money from all of this investors and then claim that they have been hacked or something. BTG will be dumpled that's for sure, don't waste your time end effort on supporting and buying that shit coin, nothing good will happen to you. Stick on supporting Bitcoin.
Please read again the original post. this is not about Bitcoin Gold, this is about BCD (Bitcoin Diamond). Price of BCD almost doubled and then dropped below 60 USD. Unlike Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Cash, this new coin has pretty much nothing in common with Bitcoin. Another altcoin with no future, among 1000 others...

I believe the limitation is not removed automatically. their agents do several checks and remove it manually. I recommend you wait a few days, and contact the support is the restriction is still there after two or three days.

Impossible to know. But one thing is for sure, all of us, holders on this forum, are just spectators. That's also the reason why many don't trust Bitcoin and hesitate to buy, because the price has always been volatile. In the end, I don't really understand these people, since if you don't trust Bitcoin, you can still buy and sell short term. I mean the risk to lose in the short term is very small right now. Just my opinion, not an advice.

Economy / Trading Discussion / 7750 EUR on Wex, 7470 EUR on Kraken. Is it that easy?
|
on: November 27, 2017, 07:40:43 AM

Hi folks. Question from a newbie in trading here. Yesterday my boss told me that he saw a price of 7750 EUR on Wex, and 7470 EUR on Kraken, with obvious trading opportunities. I am a newbie, but is it too good to be true? I mean who will buy at 7750 EUR if there is a cheaper price somewhere else? Do you manage to get some earnings this way, or am I being naive? Thanks for your opinions

Yes indeed, this virus was mentioned on several topic a few weeks ago. Be careful, I don't know if this topic can be pinned, should be. Thanks for the reminder. Not too long ago I read a guy here who lost money because of that, luckily for him it was something like 0.005, could have been worse. Bitcoin is great but we are 100% responsible of the security of our funds.
