901  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Gold-foil Chocolate Casascius Coins for the Halloween kids this year? on: September 22, 2013, 02:50:19 AM
...
Haha, I never finished it, but I intend to for this year!  I bought a circle wooden piece, and some gold & tan fabric.  i intend to go with the B with dollar signs lines coming out the top and bottom and then attach it to a shirt somehow.
...
She was a 6 and I was a 9 of diamonds, hehe.  However, I hope for this year my bitcoin costume to work out (especially given the press they received earlier this year)!

Haha!  Thanks.
902  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Gold-foil Chocolate Casascius Coins for the Halloween kids this year? on: September 22, 2013, 02:36:56 AM
I'll take at least 100 if that's about $20.  Maybe more if they look awesome.  I'm gonna be a bitcoin for halloween, so this is perfect for my costume theme Smiley

I probably wouldn't spend more that $50 on this without serious buyin from the boss (wife), haha.  I'll definitely pass them out to kids & see if I can get others to throw down.

I'll check with others this week.

How will you make a costume? Nice idea!

markm - is there a way to mirror this:

http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/

Without getting a login prompt? I've added a receiver files repository to my site, and would like to cron job a script to pull them from your site--is that doable?

I am a file admin as well, what do I have to do?
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 21, 2013, 12:22:46 PM
Back before we got flooded with authors devcoins were regularly selling for well over 200 satoshis each, now we have all these new authors it has not seen even 100 in gosh knows how long and is lucky, it seems, to see 40.

40 / 200 = 0.2  = 1/5 ... We could maybe divide all author pay by five and still have authors be able to get just as much fiat or bitcoin or whatever out of it as they get right now simply by placing their sell orders at 200 satoshis, which it used to hit quite regularly and barrel right on by even if millions were sitting there waiting to be bought so might well start doing again once floods of overpaid authors aren't dumping their grossly overhuge allotment of coins at the bottom of the price range.

(It used to also cycle down to the thirties then go back way the heck over 200, probably when enough rounds had gone by that someone figured even at dirt cheap rates they had enough to buy something with or somesuch. Likely when someone did dump a lot bringing the price way down word got around, people came to pick up coins cheap, but many of them took hours to hear about it so by the time they arrived to buy cheap coins the price was well on its way back up so they bought anyway before it went even farther back up... Oh and of course when it approached 300 people would hear about that too, come looking to sell way high, but again be beaten to it by people who were faster to hear about it and react so saw it was already on its way down so sold anyway being as how they already fired up their client and came to the exchange planning to sell...)

-MarkM-

It was only at 200 satoshis for April and May - and that was entirely due to a pump and dump by Fontas - see the following thread where he admits he manipulated it to rise by 600%:

https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php?topic=4698.0

Pump and dump prices do not reflect the real market (that's why the Nasdaq, Dow Jones and FTSE ban them). They're a con. They manipulate prices to con ordinary people into thinking that the price is rising and they'd better buy in, and the conman then unloads to the unsuspecting noobs. Then they remove their pretendy buy walls, and it all collapses back to the "normal" price, except now you've got some people who have bought at the top and they are hurting.

Let's not have community members attack each other for something that was caused by an outsider just looking to make some quick cash...

Yeah.  I bought them at 140 when I saw Fin's "Time to Buy" thread.

Welcome shakezula and smeagol! Smiley

Are they THAT new? I thought maybe it had been like a month or so.

Yep, I was just messaged yesterday!  I am going to start my first admin duties tomorrow! Smiley
906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 21, 2013, 02:03:26 AM
Smeagol is basically like the model of "What to do right now". And I kinda have a feeling he is the one that dumped the 60 mil, so that we could have a Amazon DVC business. No hate coming from me, I think it was a great idea. Not sure if it was him, but it makes sense.
It wasn't him...
lol.  Each amazon gift card is about 200k dvc (for $10).  200k * 6 = 1.2 mil
I haven't even earned 60 mil..  Cheesy
The new devcoin admins, in decreasing order of seniority, are Shakezula and Smeagol.

Thanks again, Unthinkingbit!

Use them at Smeagol's shop!

yes, do that

Very unemployed. Nope, no degree. My parents put their money into fun and my sisters education and living style. I don't even have a credit score. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it is non existent.

Is your sister well-off?

Also, take a look at this: http://www.uopeople.org/

I really think you need to get either a degree, or some sort of trade certification (mechanics, etc.)

Are there any aid programs in your area?

My family is too well off for me to receive aid. I do have a place of residence, which is one of the main qualifications here. You have to be staying on SOMEONE ELSE'S floor.

I can't get a degree without paying for college, same with trade school. And I have ZERO dollars (like $30). I have never had more than $2000 in my life, and that was from writing on Devtome.

Plus, fuck a teacher. I can read these books on my own and get way more from it. I have a list of over 350 books to get, and about 50 of those are text books Smiley

What do you mean?  I've written about 10k words or so and have about 1 BTC from it.
Keep writing and save!

Did you just download .swf's and upload them onto your site?  I tried that once, some games detect that and stop working.
910  Other / Off-topic / Re: What small, easy to code game would you pay and play for? on: September 20, 2013, 01:44:44 AM
Do a Diner Dash type game where you have to assemble ASICs before the angry customers burn down your facility.

best idea ever!  Cheesy

If you are trying to appeal to a Christian crowd go with Christian name, otherwise take it off, it sounds like the Christian math, you know, where Pi=3.

lol

XPM has already been added  Wink

Devcoin?  It's been around for a long time but it's daemon is in need of some work.

I have now reached over 150 successful payouts!

Congrats!
For some reason the projects link on your site gives a 404.  Are you working on that?
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devtome: Get Hundreds of Thousands of free Devcoins for writing on: September 20, 2013, 12:57:22 AM
I don't know how this whole devtome authors mess happened, though I think part of why it is so horrible is the insane 80 shares maximum thing.

Sorry for the double post...  I am too lazy to edit.  Cheesy

Most writers just get 80 in one round from previous works and then burn out later.  I guess 35 shares maximum would be a reasonable alternative.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devtome: Get Hundreds of Thousands of free Devcoins for writing on: September 20, 2013, 12:55:04 AM

Normally the idea is to find the people who already do those things naturally for free just because those are things they are going to do anyway. So for example if it was discovered that there existed a contributor to devtome who puts in forty hours a month developing a history of the world on devtome, and having a history of the world on devtome seemed like a great idea, so that a person who all on their own without any pay or reward was putting that much work into doing it was an admirable kind of person spending their time freely developing such a useful thing, then that person might be nominated to go onto the devcoin recipients list, so that they receive a share of devcoins every month as long as they continue putting in that much work on projects that awesome.

That is for example why FellowTraveller, developer of Open Transactions, receives a share of devcoins every month. He works like crazy on Open Transactions, probably more than forty hours a month, it is crazy-useful awesome software, so he was placed in the list of people who receive a share of devcoins.

So it seems reasonable the same should apply to the wiki: if it turns out that some contributors to the wiki spend lots of hours month after month working on awesome stuff for the wiki, they too, like FellowTraveller, maybe deserve to receive a share of devcoins each month that they continue to do so...

-MarkM-

That would be cool. But not all struggling artists can work like that. I literally have family bitching at me, and no way to get a job (I have a warrant in Texas for marijuana, and am a known marijuana smoker in Colorado and after being unemployed for over a year no one wants to hire me. But that's fine, I would rather write... But I can't do it for free...)

And again. How do we get new people. This would work fine if people were just looking at Devtome and Devcoin for the heck of it, but most of them are looking to earn them.

Fin... you are unemployed?  Do you have a college degree?  I can help you get a job, maybe.

Hey wiser, I read the "Giving back" section.

Maybe a cool feature would be a new section for the userpage called "Donation"
A person could put a certain percentage on there to be given back to the foundation to help increase the value of devcoin!  Smiley

@FinShaggy: Shakezula said you were broke... How did you get to Colorado and get living arrangements?  You don't have to answer, I'm just curious.  Smiley
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 19, 2013, 11:18:14 PM
Can you two please wrap it up?  Suddenly in the past few days the DVC thread takes longer to read.  Can we stay on topic please.  Thanks Smiley

Edit:  BTW, someone had to correct me on double posting at one point, because I didn't know either.  The bottom line is that when you've just posted something, but then think of something else to say, you hit the edit button on your post, add the word "Edit," then share your additional thought, just like I did.  Then people who read the thread once or twice a day only have less to wade through.

+1 - important messages and topics are getting missed as every post is by FinShaggy.

Finshaggy please show some discipline in your posting and allow others to use this thread. Instead of posting multiple messages in a row, please put all your thoughts into one post, and allow time for others to post in between.

Please don't pick me out of a crowd when I am simply defending the coin. Devcoin is meant to pay artists and developers that wouldn't get paid otherwise, and they are here talking about how poor I am and acting like that means I am mooching. If I wasn't poor, I would have never came here.

And they started it by talking about my dead brother in another thread BEFORE coming to talk about my poverty, so again, please don't act as if I am the one causing any of this.

But I will stop replying to them, I am thinking about just putting Shakezula on ignore.

shakezula is awesome!  He helped me on a bunch of coins even though I didn't pay him very much, so I commend him for his generosity.  FinShaggy, I recommend you go to khanacademy.com and look at some of he economics videos.  (Also, to wiser, this is a great site for homeschooling!)

GetWork Only. 0 fees until i patch the devcoin daemon to support GBT as i cant find one out there. The fee will be 1% after my 1 week promotional period(1 week after i have stratum running on the pool) . id like to claim the bounty for it if possible.

This is nice.  After this an quarter-devcoin pool or 10%-devcoin pool might work  (25% or 10% of earnings converted to devcoin).  I guess you might be able to receive the first part of the bounty, but as I am not an admin, you should most likely ask Unthinkingbit about that.
