I've compiled a list of places that you can buy stuff with devcoin, though I'm not sure if all of them are active. Devcoin Stores:*may not be activeMy plan: Devcoin hasn't been updated in a while, right? I'm thinking about a "relaunch" in which we catch the devcoin client up to the new bitcoin-qt's code (with receiver files, etc.), and keep the blockchain. I am just not sure if that is possible without a hardfork. With the sleek new client, we could start offering bounties for stores, more exchanges, etc. The publicity will bring in more writers, thus diluting the value of the share. Since the new writers will have so little, they will sell for high prices (they want to make the most $$$), making the buyers go higher! Improvements to devcoin: I think the block reward should get cut every couple of months (maybe a gradual scale down to manageable values). The number of coins is too high, so people sell for low! For example, we are now at 45k foundation, 5k miners. After a couple months, 40.5k foundation, 4.5k miners, decreasing the total block reward by 5k each split. (The Megacoin block halving really killed the coin, gradual reduction is best). I am no expert on cryptocurrencies so please do not be too harsh on me, but give some thought to my suggestions!

Just for clarification...
Does an essay need a minimum of 1,000 words to be credited? Also, if I write 1.6K on essay A and 1.7K on essay B, do I get 2, 3 or 3.3 shares?
All words are counted. That would be 3.3 shares. But it rounds down (I think) to your nearest full 1k, so it would *count* as 3 shares. If you added 700 more words, it would be 4. So if you wrote 3.9, only 3 would be counted and the .9 is lost forever?

"Marijuana, when consumed, has the immediate effect of relaxation and a feeling of joy."
Should say: Marijuana, when smoked, has the immediate effect of joy. While ingestion usually takes about 45 minutes to take effect, and is more "giggly".
And "respiratory problems" can be narrowed down to "Bronchitis".
And the part where you said "It is not recommended you should use it" is wrong. I personally have a Doctor recommendation if you would like to see it. So maybe say, "Unless advised by a doctor"
Sure. Editing it now.

Man, that's good coin. I haven't seen that since like round 24. I wish I would have written this round. Bummer. Vlad, that's why you really need to write a bit every round--because every time you don't you wish you had. If time is the issue, maybe schedule 15 minutes a day or an hour a week to write. As long as you're consistent that time can be productive. I know what happened during round 24 and it was my first one too, and yes it was frustrating to write so much for so little. Part of the reason the shares got diluted is because some people wrote a whole bunch of junk content and unfortunately got paid for it. Since then, however, a few good people joined the Devtome admin team and they take the time to review articles and filter out the trash. Since round 25 they have done a phenomenal job, and the total share count per round has been substantially less, so each share has been worth more. I mention this to let you know that this won't be an issue anymore. Now, it's still possible that we'll gain a whole bunch of high quality writers all of a sudden and they all produce 80,000 words of high quality content. Eventually that will probably happen. However, there is no way to predict that from round to round. I think in your case trying so hard to predict what each share will be worth by the end of the round and then determining if it's worth your while based on that prediction is what's causing you to in the end submit nothing and then get frustrated from realizing you should have. I honestly think you'll be better off setting a reasonable goal of what you plan to submit this round--maybe it's ten shares, maybe it's twenty, it can be anything as long as it's doable--then meeting that goal, and in the end you'll be earning some amount of generated DVC. It may or may not be as much as you'd hoped (more than likely it will be less, I've found no matter how well I do I always hoped to do better LOL), but it won't be zero, and that's the upside. Round 28 just got started. What are you going to publish today? What are you going to publish this week? Just do it. You'll be glad you did More wise advice from wiser!

I think there's a fundamental problem with this client. The debug log says it's connecting, but I am dumping the network interface and cannot see any port 1892 traffic.
I'm running around 20 other alt-clients and this is the only one I've had this problem with.
I'm about to give up, I mean OP doesn't even have his own coin in his sig....
I have connections and am up to date (block 2254)... Have you tried all of these? addnode=37.130.227.140 addnode=117.1.46.73 addnode=79.196.195.23 addnode=192.241.171.45 And what does having my own coin in my sig have to do with anything? As I said, there is no connection attempt to any nodes configured in sauronrings.conf. It's not that it tries to connect and fails, there is no connect attempt at all. No TCP SYN request for port 1892 is being generated by the client. I doubt that adding more nodes will help because it does not try to connect. It has connected to the IRC server, but has never made an attempt to connect to peers. New round!
There's one writer whose articles are in limbo because an article admin flagged them, then didn't follow up. So I won't run devtome.py until that's resolved or Friday, whichever comes first. If it's me, I want to let you know there are tons of trolls who stalk me all over the internet, so if the articles are mine and the admin is new since my brother died, it is probably just a troll, as I have noticed them follow me to gaiaonline, as well as this website and in the past even Facebook, one troll made a fake account and masturbated on a pic of my sister and sent it to her, and tried to have cycber sex with my friends list. He just made a profile with my real name, and uploaded an old picture that people from my home state would recognize. If it's not about me, then I guess all this was pointless. But, if it is me, then this can probably help it get resolved. I didn't do anything wrong, it's most likely just a stalker if it's my articles. I'm not sure but I think it might be me as I have not been showing up on the receiver files. I cannot guess why I would be flagged though...

Anyone writing on Devtome that has an interest in ANY part of history (from the death of Jesus until now), if you write some history for Devtome, we will eventually edit it and add it to our book (if you want), and you will get paid for however many pages are yours compared to the entire book (for the rest of your life, as people buy it you will get that share). Here's the book so far, it JUST started, so you wouldn't even be coming in late: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=ancient_history_by_finshaggy_aka_hannibalimhotepI'm covering the world before Jesus died. If anyone wants to add Jesus, that's fine too, we could always use multiple perspectives (mine is going to be non-christian, but very studied as I have read the Bible and will be reading tons more Bible related stuff after I get done with Carthage) If I edit it for clarity and grammar, would I be able to post it in collated, or what? I don't know what "Post it in Collated" means, but I will edit it myself. I am simply reading books and summarizing them right now. What I need is other people who read the Bible, or Rig Veda, or any other ancient religious or historical stuff, and write about it so we can put it together. Qu'ran?

I don't think you can post it in collated as that would be double-dipping (the one writing would be counted twice). Hmm... Would it be possible to add multiple contributors to an article then, or add a section such as "edited" which is weighted at 0.1 or something? Like so: ==Edited== (weighted 0.1) [[:Example]] ==Collated== (weighted 0.3) <--Collated work should be worth more! [[:Example]] ==Original== (weighted 1) [[:Example]]
