1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT's are a bigger scam than LUNA/UST on: June 15, 2022, 06:31:04 PM
People buy NFTís because they think they can sell it to somebody else from a higher price. Thatís the only reason for their existence. In other words, NFTís are nothing but ponzi schemes. Eventually people will run out of fools and NFTís will go away but bitcoin will survive just like how it survived the previous bear markets.

I don't have an issue with that. The "Greater Fool" concept has driven the rare coin and art markets for centuries. My big problem is that you aren't actually buying the art when you buy an NFT but, rather, in most cases all you are getting is some metadata that describes a piece of art that is stored somewhere else. It is like buying the Mona Lisa but, instead of the painting, you get a piece of paper saying you have the rights to a bit of wall space at the Louvre. That's great until they move the painting. Then you own some drywall.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is scarcer than gold. on: June 15, 2022, 02:50:40 PM
And every copy of Bitcoin, with a different starting seed, is also scarcer than gold. That doesn't mean it has value. Anyone can copy Bitcoin by just changing a few parameters in the source code. The value of something is not determined by rarity, that is irrelevant, but rather consumer demand. Technically any 256 bit random number you generate is unique in all the world. Good luck, however, selling it.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where will Bitcoin stabalize?? on: June 14, 2022, 10:14:55 PM
Historically it tends to fall about 80% off peak in a crypto winter. So that means the low is probably in the $14k type range. We're not far from that, so this isn't a bad time to buy. It may, of course, stabilize much higher than that and begin a new bull market.

i think we can see 12k,but the ultimate and bigger bull run of all will be when we as a community entirely address tether usdt, this is long overdue.

USDT has performed admirably so far. They've redeemed every request. USDC is solid as well. Both infinitely better than the UST/LUNA scam.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you spend 1 satoshi a day, you will spend 1 BTC is 3 years, 2 months & 1 Day on: June 13, 2022, 09:35:44 PM
If you spend 1 satoshi a day, you will spend 1 BTC is 3 years, 2 months & 1 Day...
How cool is that? 3... Years, 2... Months and... 1 Day... lol.  Grin

With fees, very possibly!
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market capitalization now well under $1T on: June 13, 2022, 08:31:50 PM
market cap number is MEANINGLESS

anyone can create an altcoin with 10 trillion coins.. sell JUST ONE coin to themselves publicly for $2 and instantly make a $20 trillion market cap

the market cap stat does not represent anything meaningful. so stop looking at it, no one really cares for it. its not even worthy of a topic mention

The aggregate market cap is for coins traded on major exchanges. Yes it can be skewed a bit by pumps on obscure alt-coins but overall it is fairly reliable. BTC and ETH combined have been the lion's share. The bottom few thousand coins really don't amount to shit.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto market capitalization now well under $1T on: June 13, 2022, 07:30:23 PM
Staggering when one considers it looked to be on a sprint to $5T just a short time ago. A rather epic collapse.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NFT's are a bigger scam than LUNA/UST on: June 12, 2022, 04:41:38 AM
The actual content of the NFT, such as a piece of art, is rarely stored on the blockchain. The reason why the content (such as a JPG, MP3, or Gif) of the smart contract associated with the actual NFT is stored on the web and not the blockchain is because of the size and cost. So you don't really own a piece of art. You own a piece of metadata describing some art that is stored on a centralized server. Those servers will, inevitably, eventually go down, be hacked or bought out so the owners of an NFT will, in the long run, own nothing but some metadata pointing to a defunct site.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LUNA's downfall scare away investors from the crypto market? on: June 11, 2022, 05:18:29 PM
There is definitely a perception out there right now that 95% of the coins out there are just a white paper and "team", plus some bad copy and paste code, with nothing tangible or worthwhile backing them. At least Bitcoin, Ethereum and a few others are actually used in commerce. Similar to the great Altcoin collapse of 2013 when the vast majority lost 98% of their value. Some of these coins honestly have even less going for them than say a Feathercoin or Sexcoin particularly all the truly asinine attempts to use a blockchain where decentralization is not needed and there are vastly better solution to the same problem; i.e. all the "web 3.0" garbage.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LUNA 2.0 be a complete failure in the long-term? on: June 06, 2022, 01:51:40 PM
It's a failed project. The only purpose for the original was to promote the concept of algorithmic stable coins. That failed in absolutely spectacular fashion. It's a bit of a miracle the new LUNA isn't also trading at $0. It brings nothing to the table right now. I'm sure the original LUNA and UST holders are happy there is a new generation of idiots who may bail them out of a truly horrible investment.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had 50k and it was life or death situation to triple that money to pay... on: June 05, 2022, 03:03:00 PM
Need more details. What country do you live in, what procedure, and what insurance options are available? In the USA health care insurance is guaranteed issue during enrollment periods regardless of how sick you are. If he is 65+ in the USA, should be able to apply for Medicare immediately. If he is destitute, with minimal income, he should be able to apply for Medicaid. In life or death situations in the USA, too, the hospital cannot deny you the care for financial reasons. They are required to stabilized the patient and bill them later.

I also can't imagine any provider in the USA who wouldn't take $50k as a cash down payment and do the rest on a payment plan. Outside of the USA, I can't imagine a procedure costing more than $50k.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / LUNA 2.0 is live! on: May 28, 2022, 01:51:14 PM
Sorry for anyone hoping to recoup their pre-crash losses. It's trading around $5 presently after an encouraging but brief opening around $17.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LUNA vs LUNA 2.0 on: May 27, 2022, 11:43:26 AM
Speculating on the original is fine just understand there are 6 trillion tokens out there so it will never be worth more than a satoshi or two. Avoid the new one entirely because it is an attempt to bail out the owners of the original coin at your expense. As soon as you put a dollar in, they'll pull a dollar out hoping to recoup a few percent of their original investment. Trust me you don't want to be the guy supply capital to a dead coin.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges that support the new LUNA on: May 27, 2022, 11:31:54 AM
Echoing that if you are not a holder of the original LUNA, DO NOT PARTICIPATE in the new one. It's trying to recover assets for investors who have lost everything so any dime you put in isn't going to go to your savings or capital appreciation but, rather, will immediately be sold on the open market by the original bagholders to try to get some tiny fraction of their money back.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Luna CEO Taking Lone walk To Luna 2.0 on: May 26, 2022, 01:23:10 PM
So help me understand this. They are going to create a brand new LUNA, hand out mountains of free coins to any bag holders who got destroyed on their prior investment - which they should have understood was an exceptionally high risk and potentially unstable algorithmic coin - and then expect the marketplace to come in and make all those bag holders whole again?

Excuse me while I die laughing. You would have to be a complete idiot to purchase the new coin on an exchange at anything above a few satoshis. You're basically handing your money over to a massive premine.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for 2,5 litecoin on: May 18, 2022, 02:25:08 PM
Always require collateral. The fact that an account has paid off prior loans is irrelevant since that may just be trust building in preparation for scamming someone out of a larger amount.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what's the ethereum killer ... on: May 18, 2022, 02:22:44 PM
I have to chuckle at the people who answered LUNA.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible UST recovered ? on: May 18, 2022, 05:29:31 AM
The fake peg, LUNA, is gone so chances are it will just drift around in value like any shit coin. I'm impressed it has held 10 cents of value given there's nothing backing it and the blockchain is down. Some very brave people to be trading it at those levels on exchanges.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what's the ethereum killer ... on: May 18, 2022, 05:27:43 AM
Hard to pick a specific one but any of the major Proof of Stake coins are likely suitors. SOL, ADA, ATOM or XTZ.

Some chance for XRP too. I don't like Ripple but it has had tremendous staying power in the top 10.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New LUNA vs. Classic LUNA on: May 18, 2022, 05:01:42 AM
That was a good idea but what concerns me is that, how much will be the value of the new LUNA if the price is still the same as the old LUNA then what will be the difference? you are holding a new LUNA? What most of us wants is to get back all of our investment not to receive a coin that has the same value as the old one.

The only reason the old Luna was worth anything was the algorithmic relationship between it and UST which people *thought*, wrongly, was a valid stable coin. There were 7 billion or so imaginary dollars that people thought was tied in some way to LUNA. Once those dollars were exposed to be a sham, and UST worthless, all the value in LUNA was destroyed. It doesn't come back simply by creating a new shit coin that is a copy of the old block chain. No sir. No way. That value is gone. Only way it comes back would be if the original team manages to come up with enough cash to make everyone whole, and backs the new coin with that. I don't seen that happening. They have maybe, being generous, a couple cents on the dollar v/ where UST was capitalized. I dare say the whole thing was little more than a scam.
