No scammer would ever return part of the stolen funds to the victim. The tokens they sent are just another scam. The displayed value is entirely fake and intended to lure the victim into performing a swap or redirecting them to a phishing site. The scammers manipulate the value through the token’s contract.
If the token is not traded anywhere and there is no apparent trading volume, it is 100% a scam. Please be cautious. Interacting with the token’s smart contract could cost you high gas fees or expose you to further risks.

Do you have a contract adress?
The value showing is the last known price eventhough there is no volume anymore. Most of the time the token price is paired to ETH or any other coin. Thus, changing value in ETH changes the value displayed.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help with an unusual situation. Apologies if this the wrong board to ask this.
Someone I know has lost a significant amount of crypto to a scam. The scammers claim they have returned some of it to their wallet (Coinbase Wallet) in the form of Jefe Token on Phantom Opera network.
However, this token doesn't appear to be actively traded anywhere and there's no trading volume displayed on CoinMarketCap, plus the market cap is $0. Another weird thing is that the value of the token is fluctuating in his wallet which is displaying anything from $60,000-$100,000.
I can't understand a) why it's showing a value and b) why the value is changing when there's no trading volume.
There's another scam in play here I'm sure, but I can't figure out exactly how it works.

I literally have no clue what this Black Whale token is  You can try https://relay.link/You choose Chain/Token as input and another Chain/Token as output. I 've used it a lot in the past, but for most well-known tokens. Be carefult to verify the token address, to make sure it's the correct one, because there are scammers. Many thanks for this. I've got a query regarding BSC if anyone can help?
Someone I know has been given some Black Whale (XXX) tokens which have been deposited to their Coinbase Wallet on BSC.
They want to convert them into USDT on Ethereum.
What is the best way to do this? They don't have access to Binance bridge and Coinbase Wallet doesn't support the bridge either.
I've seen bnbchain.org offers a bridge - is this reliable?
Or, should they swap their Black Whale for USDT on BSC in Coinbase Wallet then moved it to somewhere like Trust Wallet and use the swap feature to convert it to USDT on ETH?
Hope this makes sense and thanks for any assistance!

Hi,
Someone I know owns an industrial site with six unused units on it, each around the size of a shipping container, all wired into the national grid.
They've floated the idea of setting up a Bitcoin mining farm given the recent explosion in the price of the coin.
They've got £50,000-£100k to drop on the project, possibly more if they can realistically make money.
My questions are:
Is it worth it? Will they make a profit after the initial expense given the UK's high electricity costs?
How many mining machines would, say, £50,000 buy?
What other things do they need to consider cost-wise, ie electrical infrastructure, cooling, fire safety etc?
Is there a better coin to mine than Bitcoin?
How difficult is it to set up the farm initially?
Any other factors they need to consider.

So, I've been collecting useless bits of crypto from a lot of faucets. Now, what do I do with them? My Blockchain wallet accepts bitcoins, but that's about it. What do I do with all these others coins? Many of them are in FaucetPay, can I use that to convert them to sats, or do I have to send them somewhere else to convert them? Someplace like YoBits, or another exchange?
You could get a wallet or exchange that supports the coins and send them there, or even a hardware wallet for safekeeping if you're planning to hodl. |

It's interesting to read comments in that old topic. But back in December 2017 there was big bull run and Bitcoin was about $17k and even reached $20k. It would be more interesting to read answers to such question back in 2015 or 2016. I remember that when I started to use faucets back in 2015, I didn't even bothered to claim from faucets which were giving less than 100 Satoshi. Best faucets like FreeBitco.in were giving over 1000 Satoshi, what is about $0.75 now. Damn, good times  . Eventually, these numbers changed, later I didn't claimed from faucets which were giving less than 10 Satoshi. But now, we aren't far away from rewards smaller than 1 Satoshi. From technical perspective I think it's not big issue for faucets. Faucets are a waste of time. In terms of bitcoin for time spent, you are better off doing pretty much anything else. Get a job and buy bitcoin or offer some service online, and you can earn hundreds of time more than you can with a faucet.
I used faucets in past and I don't consider that I wasted time on. After holding my faucet earnings for few years, now it's worth way more than I would ever afford to buy. Yes, you can say that back in 2015 I was able to spend $200 and buy full 1 Bitcoin. But for newbie without knowledge it was quite scary to invest even $200. And I didn't had any special skills, so, there wasn't many options how to get Bitcoin. And I don't even talk about income from referrals that I got. I second this - I've made a decent chunk of change from faucet claims over the years and referrals. You just never know where the price is going next... |
