My A2s all have ~19/17W fans (12V/1.6A or even 12V/1.4A). May I ask what kind of fans you are using now?

Honestly, I put some slower fans in there since the stock Nidec BETAV TA450DC seemed to be pretty overkill.  I replaced the 3 front fans with Yate Loon D12SH-12 fans (~2200rpm) and added two 140mm fans to the back (Yate Loon D14SM-12).  My temps seem to be pretty close to what they were with the stock fans (maybe 2-3 degree difference at their hottest point), but the A2 is a lot quieter and uses about 50 watts less at the wall.

I'm sure if you had a bunch of them in a data center it wouldn't really matter and you'd want the extra airflow with the stock fans, but in a residential setting with just a few units these replacement fans seem to be pretty suitable.

Mark,

Your firmware doesn't support overclocking, correct? Any chance you'd consider adding it into your next version? I want to try your firmware, but I run my A2s at 1300MHz since the W/MH scale very well and my power is cheap enough.
What kind of performance/power usage are you seeing at 1300MHz?  I'm seeing about 9.58W per MH on one of my units, and about 9.14W per MH on another unit.  I don't have stock fans in my A2s, so my numbers may be a little different than others (the stock A2 fans are nearly 25 watts a piece, so I put in some more efficient fans).
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / A2 Terminator blade not detected on: September 26, 2015, 07:07:43 AM
I just got a used A2 Terminator a couple days ago.  It had been running just fine until I noticed that my hashrate dropped after about a day of mining.  Found out that one of the blades had failed somehow.  I tried rebooting, resetting, and all that stuff, but the one blade is just no longer detected.  When I boot the unit, the top 4 LEDs (LED-UA1, LED-UA2, LED-UA3, LED-UA4) on this problematic blade blink but the other 4 don't (LED-UB1, LED-UB2...).  These 4 LEDs will just continue to blink while all the other blades begin hashing.

Anyone ever encountered this and find a fix for it?  Here's a picture of the LEDs on the blade.

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Waldohoover (aka coiningsolutions.com / DidHeJust ) stole 16.64122524 btc on: July 01, 2015, 01:00:00 AM
A while back I went in on a KNC Titan group by done by Waldo.  It's been a while since this group buy and I don't know what he's done since then.

But in my experiences, Waldo is trustworthy.  He kept us fairly updated on the status of the Titans, even with all the delays.  When he finally received them he got them set up and starting mining.  The weekly payments were always on time.  He told us the Titans were mining on cex.io.  When I received my payments I did some basic blockchain crawling and saw that the coins were indeed from cex.io and were only 1 hop away from being minted.  It was obvious that he was actually mining and not just another ponzi scheme scammer.

The Titan deal ended up being a terrible deal, but at no fault of Waldo's (in fact, he did all he could to help us recover as much BTC as possible).  He kept the miners running as well as he could, and even managed to sell the Titans for some decent money.  He said we would receive our fair share of the money from the sale of the Titans.  I did the math to figure out what my fair share would have been, and about a day later Waldo sent me nearly that exact amount.  His payout matched my independent math, so I knew he was being fair.

A bit later I was in a Teamspeak server and someone was posting pictures of their old Titan mining setup.  It wasn't until after looking at the pictures I noticed the user's name was WHDHJ.  After that I realized it was actually Waldo.  It was kind of amazing that he coincidentally proved again that had actually mined and did what he said he would with everyone's money.

So I have no doubts about Waldo's legitimacy in the past.  He had done several successful group buys before mine.  He did my group buy as expected.  For these reasons, I won't be removing my positive reputation.  My experiences with him have all been positive.

From a few minutes skimming this thread, it seems like chalkboard17 simply got himself in over his head.  He wasn't able to provide proper documentation to receive the shipment, and now is expecting the seller to pay him back more than he originally paid.  Waldo made it clear to us that his bookkeeping was done in USD, and that's how you would be refunded.  Expecting different is just silly.

I also have concerns about this because chalkboard17 seems to be relying on emotions rather than objective and logical reasoning.  I don't care if you have a baby and a wife.  Posting a picture of a baby isn't going to alter my opinion.  I base my opinion on verifiable facts, and chalkboard17 just seems to have trouble providing consistent facts.

Regardless, I hope this situation can get worked out and both sides can be satisfied with the outcome.  Waldo is being communicative, so I see no reason to get out the pitchforks.

Just for those curious of how things turned out overall: we managed to recover 23.66% of our Bitcoin. Yeah, a 76.34% loss sucks, but it's better than a 100% loss.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MINING] CoiningSolutions.com Titan Shares on: February 10, 2015, 09:24:22 PM
The question:

Do we do this? A half working cube may be better than it sitting in the mail and sitting with KnC for who know's how long - additionally, the Titan would need to mine the cost of shipping which it's barely breaking even with now.

I'm leaning towards just mining with the cubes that aren't 100% and informing the buyer of this as well.

It took KNC this long to respond.  Just imagine how much longer it would take them to return a (if we're lucky) fully functional cube.  I agree with just running the half working cube.

Excellent news on the sales of all the units.  I think selling the units made the best of an unfortunately bad situation.  Any money we can all recoup from this is better than no money, and with the lower price of Bitcoin now we should be able to get back a reasonable chunk.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MINING] CoiningSolutions.com Titan Shares on: January 27, 2015, 02:17:10 PM
You're doing exactly what I would recommend.  Continue mining with the Titans while also keeping an open ear for any buyers.  Selling and getting back a small percentage of our money now is better than having the Titans sitting around doing nothing in the future.

$1500 of Bitcoin right now is about 5.6 BTC.  I believe each Titan was originally ~20 BTC.  So, with this sale, we're looking at getting back about 25% of our investment for this Titan.

In a perfect world with no energy costs and perfect 300Mh/s per Titan, a Titan would generate about 0.056BTC a day. So it would take a Titan about 100 days to generate the same amount of BTC (again, that's in a perfect world with no electricity costs or speed/difficulty variances).  So yeah, I think selling was the right call there.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MINING] CoiningSolutions.com Titan Shares on: January 13, 2015, 08:15:43 PM
Waldo is the only one making profit out of us... this is BS ...

We all were aware of the risks of this group buy.    Back when we first bought our part in this, who thought that we would see $240 BTC and $1.60 LTC?

Waldo stated he was mining at cex.io.  It was easy to verify this by following the payouts we received.  The coins were only 1 hop away from newly minted coins to a known cex.io address.

According to the math I've done, Waldo is paying somewhere around 23 cents per Kw/h.  It's unfortunate the Titans aren't being hosted elsewhere, as that is more than 5x what I pay for power.

The upside is that LTC difficulty continues to drop.  Maybe one day we'll be able to power up the miners again.  Any payout is better than none!

Got my payout 2nd.  I was easily able to trace my payout to newly minted coins.  All doubts in my mind about Waldo's legitimacy have gone away.  Too bad all mining service providers can't be as trustworthy as Waldo.

And yeah, 0.013BTC is better than nothing!
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MINING] CoiningSolutions.com Shares @ $19 for 1+MHs FREE hosting & 0% Fees on: December 23, 2014, 12:42:31 AM
Glad to see the Titan's seem to be working better with updated firmware and (some of) the y-cables.

Interestingly enough, all other scrypt ASICs have seemingly disappeared or called it quits (Bitmain most notably).  It seems like KNC may be the only big player in the Scrypt ASIC world.  Over the past month the LTC network difficulty has hovered between 50,000 and 55,000.  With no new ASICs rolling out, we may see it stay here for a while.

Keep em' mining waldo.
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: December 19, 2014, 08:26:15 PM
you made a bunch of bitcoin with them. But you bad mouth them on exit. Was it just the pay coin you don't like or something else?

I had no problems with GAW at the start.  They were a legitimate hardware store.  Then when the Hashlets came out, it still seemed legitimate.  However, it was about this time that Josh Garza started making huge promises and never following through with them (never obsolete, decreasing maintenance fees, new features, etc.).  It was weird watch the mindless masses worship his every move while every announcement he made was just another disappointment to me.

Then the bottom fell out of Zenpool.  It was about this time he started talking about "contracts" and other things which just didn't make sense.  It became very clear at this point that there was no actual mining going on.  This is when I decided I needed to get out, I just wanted to wait for the opportune moment.

Then "Project Prime" details started rolling out.  Everything was an absolute joke.  I've been in the altcoin world for years.  I've seen other people do this exact same thing and I know how it ends, it was just dressed up all pretty this time.  When they released the Paycoin "whitepaper", that's when I realized GAW was an absolute joke and destined to implode.

See my post on Hashtalk.  If you want to see something even more entertaining, find GAW_CEO's responses to my post.
https://hashtalk.org/topic/18460/just-a-reminder-always-be-cautious-when-investing-hashcoin-included

Shortly after this announcement the price of primes spiked, and I sold on the spike.  I felt a huge weight come off my shoulders the day I got all of my money out of GAW (It was December 1st).  At that point I was done with GAW, except for the ~110 Paycoins I would get with my Hashpoints.  Since that day I've watched others become aware of what I had been seeing, and I've also seen nearly all of my predictions come true (premine, very short PoW phase, no actual Prime/Orion Controller system, blockchain forking, using Paycoins is just a browser plugin, obstacles to get from Paycoin to BTC, and so many others).

The only prediction I haven't seen come true yet is the bankruptcy of GAW.  Realistically, I think GAW will become insignificant in late January.  After that point it will be just like every other altcoin: a very small (and very invested) group of people think it's the future and are hoping to get rich.  GAW will continue to limp along, but they will be completely irrelevant (not that they're relevant now.  Ask anyone in the Bitcoin community about Josh Garza and there's a good change they're say, "Who?").

Josh has no clue about Bitcoin.  He claimed to be the "hashking" but didn't even understand how proof-of-work worked, or how the blockchain actually works.  Listened to his live Q&As was just absolutely cringeworthy.

Anyway, does that answer your question?
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: December 19, 2014, 07:20:41 PM
I was totally out of GAW on December 1st, except for my Paycoins.  I just sold all my Paycoins on Cryptsy for 2.25BTC.

Amount invested in GAW: 1.6057BTC
Amount made from Hashlet Prime mining: 2.08BTC
Amount made from selling primes: 3.49BTC
Amount made from selling Paycoins: 2.25BTC

OVERALL INVESTMENT PERFORMANCE
Cost      1.6057BTC
Revenue   7.7371897BTC
Profit      6.1314897BTC
% ROI    381.8577381BTC

I nearly quintupled my original investment (4.81x my original investment).

And as a bonus I get all watch all of GAW blow up, something I've been warning others for MONTHS.  I had a good time, made money, and now I get a free show!  I wish everyone could be in my position; I feel for those who may lose significant money.

People seem to be having MUCH better luck with firmware 1.14.  With GiveMeCoins and LitecoinPool people are reporting a rejected rate of less than 0.5%.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: December 01, 2014, 01:27:44 AM
Interesting math. You've done much better than I did with my 1 BTC puchase. Did you have any converted hardware?

I have sold off most of my Primes, have 6 left, purchased same stalkers because I couldn't withdraw my last $60 Smiley. I have barely broken even, give or take a few bucks. I did some experiments that lost me money though, e.g. with Genesis, with the Market etc.

how did he turn 1.6btc into 1.993btc mining....? is the difference the mining revenue i.e 0.33btc?

can you post what you had in hashlets e.g 1.6btc bought 15 primes @ 37$ each and mined zen for 10 days with each prime giving me 0.0006 btc a day.

this would be interesting to see
I went in on a group buy for a Vaultbreaker (bought 60MH's worth) for the 1.6 BTC.  These were converted to 60MH/s of Primes. I got my Hashlets on day 1. In the beginning Zenpool was actually pretty profitable and I was able to ROI pretty quickly.  Then shortly after that it really slowed down (the rate nearly halved) and I switched to earning HashPoints.  That's how I earned the 1.993 BTC from mining.  I was also pretty vigilant at using whatever boosts they were providing as efficiently as possible.

60 MH/s at Zenpool earning 0.0006 and then double dipped at LTCPool earning 0.0006 adds up to 0.072 BTC per day.  Things really did used to be a lot better.

When the Hashpoint mining stuff started, I bought 1.5BTC worth of Zens.  Used them to mine Hashpoints for a few weeks, then sold then in the market and got back nearly all of the 1.5BTC I used to buy them.
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: November 30, 2014, 07:53:54 PM
Also, while I am totally getting out of GAW, it will be my most profitable investment. Most of my money was made from buying Primes cheap and selling them at more than 3x the price.

Initial cost of Hashlets: 1.605BTC
Generated by mining: 1.993BTC
Selling Hashlets: 5.96BTC
Overall Profit: 6.348BTC

In regards to Paycoin, I plan on selling all of mine for $20 as soon as possible.

Paycoins I should have: ~109 (currently have about 43,000 HashPoints).
Assuming $20 per Paycoin: $2,186
At current BTC rate: 5.776BTC

So if all goes well, I'm looking at about 12.1BTC profit from my initial investment of 1.6BTC with GAWMiners.  I guess Ponzi's are good if you get in early.  I do feel a little bad knowing this BTC is coming from gullible people, but I guess I'll just be selfish in this case.

Be selfish like me.  If you're not comfortable with the idea of Paycoin, get out now and make some good money.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: November 30, 2014, 07:36:46 PM
GAW has been a joke ever since the whole "Project Prime" reveal began.  I was mainly comfortable with them before, but once it hit that point my ponzi detector started going off.  Since that point I've been incredibly critical of everything they say since huge claims are being made but none of them actually materialize.  I sold half of my primes at this point.

Next came the Paycoin announcement and "whitepaper".  It was an absolute joke.  I made a big post on Hashtalk pointing out all the issues with their 'whitepaper' just from a business perspective.  GAW_CEO responded and basically said, "You've already made up your mind so I'm not even going to dignify your questions with a response."  It was at this point I decided I would sell the other half of my primes when the right moment came.

Now, the HashStaker announcement has blown up.  It seems like the masses are finally beginning to open their eyes to what a few of us have been seeing for so long. There are just so many things wrong with the entire idea now that you really have to be drinking the Garza Kool-Aid to not see it.

Because of this Hashstaker announcement, the price of Hashlet Primes has raised to over $50 on the Zen Marketplace.  Perfect time to sell my remaining primes and get totally out of GAW.

No regrets for my time and money spent with GAWMiners.  I disagree with what they're doing, but they're letting me get out whenever I want.  I just hope other are aware of the risks and don't lose a ton of money.

Take care!

I'm all for the splitting idea.  I actually bought 4 shares on separate Titans instead of 4 shares on 1 because I didn't want my one miner to die and then be out of luck.  So yeah, another vote for the splitting.

KNC claimed that all Titans were now being shipped with the y-cables at least a week before they reported your first Titan as shipped.

At this point it's just so bad it's comical.
20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet Hashcoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: November 18, 2014, 09:59:51 PM
You mean this one?

https://hashtalk.org/topic/18460

I like how the CEO responded along the lines of "I could address your questions but I'd rather just tell you that you're wrong" Smiley

Yeah, that was me.  I had a response typed up, but I decided it was best not to post it.  GAW CEO should invite me to be part of their next Google Hangout Live Q&A.  All of my questions are legitimate and fair, and if he would answer them honestly it would do a lot to convince myself of his project's legitimacy.
