Aside from discounted rates when purchasing tokens before public launching, what else can a potential investor benefit from investing in an initial coin offering?
What do they do when the coin comes to a crash when it goes public? How do these companies protect the interests of their investors?
There is no protection really. Not like we know it from stocks where there can be a market maker assigned to keep the price stabilized. Some coins like the BNB coin or the A2A from 50x Exchange have buyback build into their token program. That is a stabilizing measure but in no means making it a risk-free investment. |

I’d for sure open a real business. It can sustain you in all times and if you put in an extra effort it can bring you more money on the table. Can you say the same for investment in crypto?
Let’s take an example where you decide to open a lawn mower business. You can put in as many hours as you want in the spring and summer time if your rates are attractive enough. Efficiently you yourself can decide how much money you will make. You will not have a lot of work during the winter but there you will be running your snow shoveling business. On top of that it looks good on a CV that you had your own little business.
Let’s compare that to investment in crypto. Here you are at the mercy of the markets. Who is to say that we will ever have a bull market like we saw last year again? If not, then you really must beat the markets to make a sustainable income from investing in cryptocurrencies. Beating the markets for the average Joe is almost impossible at least in the long run. Sure, you might be lucky and hit one of those coin which multiplies your investment a thousand times but what is the likelihood of that?
I myself run a little IT company and I can write off some of the things I buy for crypto. I would very much recommend that 😉 Write articles, do SEO, become a webmaster etc. There are plenty of opportunities on the internet for running your own business.

The viability for small and new exchanges are becoming less and less as you can no longer start them up as a one-man operation. The awareness from hackers to exploit every single vulnerability has grown immensely and as an exchange owner you now also must protect yourself against 50% attacks which are almost impossible. The small coins used to be the niche for these small exchanges, but they might now also be their downfall.

I think it will be positive for the KIN price if we are going to have our own blockchain.
The KIN ICO was one of the first I invested in last year and I still have almost all of my tokens. I did loose a few thousands trying to stake on Bancor. I admit I didn’t really understand the system and figured out in the end that I would risk looking my precious KIN if the token price would rise??!!
However, being one of the coins with most utility has not been exactly positive for the price. It amazes me why that is. I think long-term this is one of the most undervalued projects out there with the eco-system being build, huge potential userbase and this being a real company.
One small hair in the soup though. I live in Europe and I am restricted from trying the cool app I have helped finance. I don’t understand why us from Europe are restricted.

It seems logical that hashrate will fall if price of bitcoin is as well. Profitability and price goes hand in hand.
