3781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why newbies get banned on: October 13, 2022, 09:17:48 AM
Instead of chasing recognization, my advice to newbies is to get acquainted with the platform. Educate your self in some certain areas and topics. This is necessary for daily improvement and investment growth.
I don't want to sound like a dick or anything, but why are you (a newbie) giving advice to other newbies on what to do on Bitcointalk? You registered only 3 days ago. Advice should generally come from those who have overcome various obstacles and have obtained some experience. You wouldn't expect someone who started aviation training 3 days ago to give schooling to other wannabe pilots on how to fly an airplane.

I recommend all newbies to stick with this beginner and help sections for days before thinking of other sections of the platform...
There are newbies to Bitcointalk and then there are newbies to bitcoin and crypto altogether. People come here for various reasons and there is no need to stick around the B&H sub if they don't want to. More serious discussions are held elsewhere, and if they can and feel like participating, they should. Just reading the posts of knowledgeable users could mean a lot.
3782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard to detect scams nowadays? on: October 13, 2022, 08:30:30 AM
"If you are afraid of getting burned, don't play with fire". If you don't understand what you are investing in or you are unsure, stop before it's too late. Way too many people have gotten it in their heads they know how to invest, but the truth is far from it.

Don't get involved where you don't belong and there will be no consequences to suffer. Owning bitcoin doesn't make anyone a financial expert capable of recognizing other investment opportunities. If you don't have the skills or patience to perform thorough analysis, there is no shame in stepping aside.
3783  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why are crypto exchanges not truthful? on: October 13, 2022, 08:12:27 AM
Some crypto exchanges are so annoying, they lied to new users just to make them sign up on their websites, what is there gains luring people with this trick that ruins their trust?
You kind of answered that question yourself. Like it or not, you registered on their platform and you deposited money trying to take advantage of the offer. That's what they gained. They gained you as a customer. Maybe a dissatisfied customer, but still. You aren't the first to fall for it and you will certainly not be the last one. Many other people have probably seen that ad or a similar one and went to check it out.

Despite what the ad says, you should always confirm what is true by reading the TOS and speaking with the support before depositing money. When you send them your coins, you have to play by their rules. They can ask you to verify your identity and that information can and will be shared with 3rd-parties. If they don't like what they see, they could freeze your crypto and ask you additional questions about its origin, etc. Before you can withdraw YOUR MONEY, you will need to pay a withdrawal fee, maybe even complete a trade and lose some more money to them.
3784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How are Newbies welcomed in the Forum? on: October 13, 2022, 07:53:18 AM
It might seem like a lot to take in at first, but take it one step at a time, be patient, and eventually it will start making sense. Scams are easy to spot if you apply logic and common sense. Whenever you see an offer that seems too good, try to think if something like that exists in the real world, outside of this forum and the crypto niche. How many times has a complete stranger walked up to you and given you money, gold, or other valuables? Never, right? It's not going to happen in crypto either. People are concerned about improving their own life and financial wellbeing, not that of others. Some consider scamming as one way to do it. So keep your eyes open and don't be gullible.

I am going to share two excellent resources with you. Read, watch, listen, and learn when you have the time.

I don't understand those beginners who form their portfolios that consist ONLY of altcoins and NFTs? What do you expect when your diversification is zero and does not contain a single deflationary asset, which is Bitcoin. Bitcoin is volatile, but it is always rising and always in price.
I seriously doubt your average altcoin and bounty crowd knows what deflationary means.

They could be interested in altcoins for a number of reasons. I am just going to mention two:

1. Bitcoin has already been around for over a decade and people know about it. They believe there isn't that much room to make a profit. Maybe they even think bitcoin will never reach those old highs ever again. They are also not aware of market cycles. Because of that, they think it's time to find the next coin that will become the new bitcoin when it comes to returns. Filling your wallets with as many of those useless tokens is what they believe will increase their chances of getting in early before one of them explodes.

2. They have no money to invest and can't buy Bitcoin. They have no other means to earn it. They don't work or have enough saved up, so they focus on what they believe is the next best thing - new unlisted tokens and altcoins. Maybe by holding those, they will amount to something in the future that can be sold or traded for bitcoin. Unfortunately, that rarely happens nowadays.
3786  Other / Meta / Re: See this burst poster here. on: October 12, 2022, 01:53:05 PM
@Poker Player
Don't drink and post, it's dangerous. Grin

I have never given much thought to post bursting. But if the content of the posts are OK and it isn't spam except the posts coming in quick succession one after the other, I personally wouldn't mind it.

I did think of something though. Imagine you were reading a few threads or posts and then you had to leave or go to work before you can come up with a decent reply. During the time you are gone, you might write a draft of what you want to say or write it on your work computer and save the content somewhere. Later when you get home where you are safe to access Bitcointalk, you come back to your attachments or drafts, check that you aren't repeating what others have already said, and you post it in the appropriate threads. Since the posts were already written in advance, you can post all of them relatively quickly, and they will look like burst posting. But that doesn't necessarily mean they are shit posts and should be deleted.
3787  Other / Meta / Re: BAN APPEAL FOR IHUGBOGO on: October 12, 2022, 01:37:26 PM
You know, Xal0lex isn't wrong.

You know how to create hyperlinks as seen in the OP and some of your other posts. There is also a post where you quote a saying from your country and you use quotation marks.
My people always says "Nah who get food to chop they save"...

All that shows that you know about these things. If the copy-pasted parts were in quote tags, italicized, or in quotation marks, like in the example above, people could say you made some effort to make it easier to distinguish your words from the parts that were taken from somewhere else.

This could be a case of someone forgetting to put the source link or someone intentionally leaving it out for whatever reason. You will have to convince the admins that it's the latter.
3788  Economy / Gambling / Re: BK8 - Biggest and Most Trusted Brand. Asia's #1 Crypto online casino BTC & USDT on: October 12, 2022, 01:16:55 PM
@BK8.Official

I would like to invite you back to the scam accusation thread that you already posted in a few days ago. I quoted and replied to you, but there was no response.

we have checked your account and we came to know that your account is flagged by the provider's compliance team due to abnormalities found this may be referring to a member professional betting style has breached the fair play betting rules that might have violated and triggered your account to be suspended.
Not that I like the tone of OP who is accusing you of withholding his winnings because attacking everyone and everything around makes him look guilty. But for the sake of clarification, what kind of abnormalities are you talking about? What did the player do? What is a "Member professional betting style"? Do you have reasons to believe OP is part of an illegal betting crew or that he has insider information or something?

Everyone seems to be pleased with the outcome, but shouldn't there be some proof that confirms your side of the story? The way it is now, it's your word against the word of the player and that's it. Nothing in your reply sounds convincing for now.

And there is also this:
While details are best to be open for transparency for the players' side, it is going to sound like "how to cheat the casino" and "this what makes you caught." Therefore termination based on the breach of rules is used. Common sense should also be used in this instance since the amount in question is always small and it's always sports betting instance.
But where do we draw the line? How do we determine who is telling the truth and who isn't? Choosing sides without knowing the facts isn't the right way to do it. So OP is lying in this case with no presented evidence whatsoever. If you or me made a similar accusation tomorrow in the same way, would we also be lying or are we telling the truth because we are somewhat more trusted than OP is?

Can you add more information as to what the player did wrong exactly to have his account closed? I would like to know.

Do you remember the matches you placed those bets on? I am trying to cure my curiosity.

I am going to post in their ANN thread in the gambling section linking to my two posts and questions here to see if I get a response from someone. I remember that I tried to get some information from this bookie not that long ago for my thread where I keep track of withdrawal amounts/fees in crypto casinos and they weren't helpful at all, and they were unresponsive. The support agent I spoke with over live chat didn't understand English to be able to help me further. They work with a campaign manager here. His name is Gianluca and a number or something in the user name. He might be able to help. You might have seen his posts if you read their ANN thread.

Can you try and remain calm? You are giving away weird vibes and it's hard to believe you.

3791  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BK8BTC.COM Scammed me on: October 12, 2022, 09:55:12 AM
Why not ask OP to publish his last 5 bet slips or so? An abuser is quite easy to spot. Pretty sure it must be on small unknown leagues/matches.
I'll stop my comment if his bet was a simple MU vs City 1x2 bet and the like.
He said that his account is blocked and closed. I don't think he can do that, but the BK8.Official admin can if both parties agree to it. I would say it also depends on where you live. If his bets are on a small unknown league in a 3rd-world country, and he lives thousands of kilometers away in a Western nation, I would agree with you that it looks bad. But if he lives in or around the country whose matches he bets on, that's totally different.

While details are best to be open for transparency for the players' side, it is going to sound like "how to cheat the casino" and "this what makes you caught." Therefore termination based on the breach of rules is used. Common sense should also be used in this instance since the amount in question is always small and it's always sports betting instance.

3792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Namibia Now Accepts Bitcoin As Payment on: October 12, 2022, 09:42:18 AM
Now talking bout, El Salvador, Namibian and also Central African Republic, it's not about adding Bitcoin, how well can they go after one year accepting Bitcoin, how well has it been utilize ? How many old timers has successfully jumped in Bitcoin real life utilization?
How many businesses are using as a means of payment ? That's all that matters really if you ask me.
This is something that you can find out on site. It's impossible to know by reading a few articles or looking at interviews with the President. Older and not technically gifted folks will struggle working with a smartphone and getting the grip of bitcoin. They are not the target group for innovation, but still have to be considered.

To understand what the regular people think of bitcoin and if they use it, you walk down a random street and enter small shops and private businesses. By talking with the people there and asking them do they accept crypto and what they think about it will give you the information you need to know. That's completely different from tourist locations, shopping malls, and stuff like that.
3793  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X and Nano S Plus with free shipping on: October 12, 2022, 09:30:57 AM
Oh that is representative example for sure  Roll Eyes
On the other hand you have a bunch of people who are publicly complaining and providing feedback about their ledger nono X devices.
It is, yes. When determining the quality (or lack of quality) of something, you can't just take into account the things you want to see and neglect the stories you don't like. Ledger is shit, hence I only consider and like those who call it shit. Those that don't are losers. And those who can't share negativity about the company are lying. There is obviously a big difference between the Nano Xs they have been manufacturing in recent years and the older ones before the battery pandemic.

On positive side, Ledger just started selling their devices in Target stores, so no need for shipping if you have one in your area, and if you want to save waste less money:
Target is a US-brand and most of their stores are in the US. So it's good for Americans and Canadians. I don't know how many locations they have intentionally. I could swear I saw a Target store in a German mall not that long ago but I am not certain of that.

Edit: In the spreadsheet, shouldn't the pay rate be 1 mBTC instead of 0,1? For the avatar campaign members.
I was part of the Starbets signature and avatar campaign that was also managed by icopress. The spreadsheet was identical and the pay rates were set at 0,1 mBTC for each new week. But when the week ends and the posts get checked, the correct numbers will be added to the spreadsheet.

What are you guys applying for? The title of the thread says FULL. The campaign manager only made a post to highlight that payments for the first week have been sent and he didn't announce that any new spots are available.
3797  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X and Nano S Plus with free shipping on: October 11, 2022, 01:01:17 PM
Free shipping Ledger's hardware wallets for this promotion applies to all types of delivery, including economy and express delivery?
Good question. I didn't think about that and the fact there are different shipping methods. From what I can see, it's not express delivery. It's tracked delivery with DHL, Colissimo, or some other provider depending on where you are in the world. I entered some fake details with fake addresses from various parts of the world just to get a delivery time estimate. Turns out you will need to wait anywhere from 2 to 21 business days. Again, this depends on where you are. Within the EU, the estimate is 2-5 business days. Outside of EU 14-21.

Also, it would be good to indicate the source of this information.
I saw it on Twitter first but there is also a notification at the top of the page on https://shop.ledger.com/. I can link to the Twitter post, but it contains no additional information.
3798  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X and Nano S Plus with free shipping on: October 11, 2022, 12:00:45 PM
I wouldn't buy that ledger nono X crap even if they pay me to use it, and as for model S plus you could just buy in local reseller with almost identical price, and you won't have to wait for delivery package to arrive.
No way, really? You generally speak very highly of Ledger you sweet talker. Wink
I was never a big fan of their Nano X model due to Bluetooth and the battery, but users like Lucius have had one for years and they aren't complaining.

It seems to me that free shipping is something that has always been available, at least when it comes to the EU? Maybe I'm wrong about the recent past, but I'm sure I haven't paid any additional costs for my devices in the past.
Maybe it's free when the total value is above a certain amount. Here is an archive of their shop from January 2022. As you can see, there is a free shipping tag under the Nano X but there is no such thing under the Nano S. Something similar is mentioned in this reddit post. The OP claims he was asked to pay around $16 for the Nano S. That was two years ago. In the comments, people are saying that only the Nano X has free shipping. Another post by someone who maybe worked for Ledger at the time wrote they stopped offering free express shipping.

There is also this thread by our favorite crypto personality jerry0 who wrote he also needed to pay $18 for express shipping. However, he lives in the US I think. @Lucius didn't you order your Nano X with a discount during Black Friday or something? Maybe free shipping was part of that promotion.
3799  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Ethspro.com a SCAM? Unable to withdraw USDT on: October 11, 2022, 09:24:17 AM
How I found it is a bit embarrassing.. via an online conversation/dating app..
Bloody hell man. I am not going to pound on you when you are down and you got scammed, but I just have to ask really? A dating platform should be about finding a new partner not investment opportunities. In many similar cases, it's usually a sexy Asian girl who finds you cute, interesting, and simply irresistible. So she can't help herself and wants to make you a millionaire so you will love her even more. Sounds like a story for cheap and badly-produced movie.

I hope this lesson teaches you not to trust unknown internet communication and confuse it with someone who wants only the best for you. Did you lose a lot of money?

So you think bumping this thread where a player used multiple accounts to bypass betting restrictions (Stunna was talking abount 15+ accounts) and other scam accusation threads concerning Stake will make the community think that your supposed involvement in table tennis match fixing is OK? Think again. You wagered lots of money on the same player on the same tournament. It worked for a while, but it doesn't anymore.
