Updates announcement is live. until the team can do more consistent meetings on updates we will be moving to this format. this will tell you what we have been working on and what we have been focusing our efforts on but it will not give percentage estimates of how far along those tasks are. thank you for understanding.

If you are using Apple devices with iMessage make sure you update the device to the latest ios version (12.4) as proof of concepts (PoC) code for the following vulnerabilities have been released

Quote from: theHackerNews
CVE-2019-8647 (RCE via iMessage) — This is a use-after-free vulnerability that resides in the Core Data framework of iOS that can cause arbitrary code execution due to insecure deserialization when NSArray initWithCoder method is used.
CVE-2019-8662 (RCE via iMessage) — This flaw is also similar to the above use-after-free vulnerability and resides in the QuickLook component of iOS, which can also be triggered remotely via iMessage.
CVE-2019-8660 (RCE via iMessage) — This is a memory corruption issue resides in Core Data framework and Siri component, which if exploited successfully, could allow remote attackers to cause unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
CVE-2019-8646 (File Read via iMessage) — This flaw, which also resides in the Siri and Core Data iOS components, could allow an attacker to read the content of files stored on iOS devices remotely without user interactions, as user mobile with no-sandbox.

I have added a shard to KOREBot that gives the commands list when .commands or .help is requested.
I have also reimplemented the .addme command for those having issues connecting to the network
I have also added a block info command that will return the current block or a specific block's data if you pass a block to the command.

Next up is to work on the modularity update and private commands (e.g. private rains if you want to stay hidden)

For those curious, this is the plans for future updates (not in any order)

  • add to private git and have commit webhook soas to show live updates/when im working on korebot
  • move address/deposit command to be handled by both direct and server handlers (modify guild code so not if/else but rather all/if)
  • make address/deposit command private (like balance command)
  • modularity update (if you see me talking about KBNI this KBNI that KBNI is KoreBot Next Iteration; the modularity update)
  • self assigned roles for testnet/security/korebot updates
  • support for malformed commands (difficult do to how i am currently sanitizing and making things excessively strict for security)
  • private tips
  • private rains
  • private/public donation to kore/silvana/karol
  • public donation list/"top donator" list
  • internal explorer (this was half completed with .block command but i need to figure out how i want to display transactions)
  • Role specific rains/soaks
  • true active member deterioration

If you have any other ideas for KOREBot or your REALLY want to see one of the commands happen before the others please reply/message me Cheesy

Bisq accepted the pull request to add KORE to their dex. You will have to wait for the next release to use it (as I understand it).

Hey guys how you doing?

We want to thank the community for the help and trust deposited on the team and also say that we are building the Kore projects together, we are doing our best to bring the technologies the team is working as soon as possible.

The Kore PoS whitepaper and Kore whitepaper can definitely point to what we want to accomplish, we want people’s privacy back and to create new crypto technologies so we can be even more free from the banks, governments and there is nothing that will stop us from achieving this and everything on the whitepaper or roadmap will be done.

The day that the financial systems around the world crumbles on a new world recession it will be the day that BTC and the other good cryptos will shine and the Kore team will be there to do it is part, Satoshi created Bitcoin on a nasty world economic recession time and i personally believe he was preparing us for the next one so we have tools and power to fight back for people’s rights and their precious hard worked savings.

Work on getting Kore on more exchanges is ongoing and as MikeMike said:

"Our goal is to not stop till KORE is listed on near every Exchange we can list on (at this time)
and continue to expand out to the the very top tier Exchanges in a driven, methodical manner.
This will be done as each piece of tech and marketing is introduced, growing the Community."

Have a great day.

Cheers.

Very good to hear that the team remains focused and determined on the tasks.
we would like to just be working on the tech, it is unfortunate bittrex decided to delist us between major releases but we are doing what we can to protect everyone's investments.

I asked and you responded:

A Guide on how to proxy your firefox traffic through KORE's Tor implementation

Step 1: Open up firefox and click on the hamburger menu (three lines) at the top right
img snipped for scaling

Step 2: click on "options" to open the settings

Step 3: scroll down all the way and click on the network settings's settings button
img snipped for scaling

Step 4:
  • Select "Manual proxy configuration"
  • Set the "SOCKS Host" address to: 127.0.0.1
  • Set the "SOCKS Host" Port to: 9979
  • Select "SOCKS v5"
When you finish your Connection Settings should look like this:
img snipped for scaling

Step 5: Select "OK"

Step 6: Restart firefox and browse freely, while being on Tor!

NOTES:
  • Make sure you have the KORE wallet running, I myself have forgotten to start the KORE wallet before opening firefox.
  • You do not need to change any settings in your kore.conf
  • I HAVE ONLY TESTED THIS IN WINDOWS, please confirm if it works for you in linux.

Q/A
Q: Is this the Surfs Up browser?!
A: NO! This is just to hold you over until we finalize the implementation of Surfs Up browser.

Q: How can I tell if this is working?
A: there are two ways,
  • first you can open your tor.log and look for this line (likely it will show up several times)
Code:
New control connection opened from 127.0.0.1.
  • secondly, you can go to whatismyip.com or other sites similar and look at the location and IP that it displays

Q: Does this work with obfs4?
A: This uses the bridge settings of the KORE wallet as it is currently running, so if you have obfs4 configured then yes, this will work.

If you get a message in bitcointalk or discord telling you you need to update your kore wallet USE THE GITHUB do NOT download anything people upload privately, there is someone targeting KORE Community members with viruses masquerading as KORE wallet updates. If you ever have any question as to if you need to update you can always post here or in our discord/telegram OR you can go to the official github and download the latest release/source code.

Notes on obfs4 support:

The OSX guide is being worked on, I still need to finalize it and verify it again but it should be up in the next few days

For windows (at least) I have noticed that obfs4proxy application continues to run after shutdown, we are looking into this and possible fixes. For now, you will need to shut down the wallet and then kill obfs4proxy to restart the wallet.

In future releases, we will be packaging the obfs4proxy application with the wallet (the guides will be updated when we begin this).
Currently, an end goal is to have obfs4 actually in the wallet instead of actually needing the executable, I have found a source code but have not been able to verify if it is the source code Tor actually uses. I will be running tests to see if I can validate the source code and if we find the official source code, or can prove this code works (and is not malicious) we will begin official integration so that obfs4 will be an actual feature in the wallet without need of the official application file.

EDIT: sorry guys i was pretty tired and thought i mentioned the bug i have found but did not
there is a bug with obfs4 that is being looked into where the wallet will not shut down correctly due to obfs4 not being shut down by the wallet this is because the wallet starts tor and tor starts obfs4 but the wallet itself does not know obfs4 is running and thus doesnt shut it down. this will be fixed soon
