The people behind this shutdown should be declared traitors and locked up. All they are doing is aiding the Chinese in their steady takeover of the western businesses.

Hell, they might as well all start speaking Mandarin and get used to a communist-capitalist lifestyle.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lawyer posts an interesting comment regarding suing Mt.Gox on: April 12, 2013, 04:25:22 PM
They won't get far. All the people who are shouting and screaming and about to jump off some high building somewhere, were in this to make money quickly. To do that is a gamble, just like most games in a casino or a race at the track.

They gambled, they gambled money they could not afford to lose. They are fools, and will be laughed at.

Playing the cryptocurrency game for me is a nice steady trickle of earnings that pays for social and the odd holiday. If you've got the money and the cojones to take the risk, then good luck to you. I only ever took a risk once, during the Namecoin run, and lucky for me it paid off. But I never risked more than I could afford to lose. Even though I came way out on top, it still brings chills to me, thinking about the money spent on those trades. I sure as hell ain't got BIG cojones... just happy with the trickle of earnings Smiley
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is booming in Israel on: April 12, 2013, 08:04:02 AM
Boom in Israel!

What are they doing, buying bombs with BTC, lol

How much is a self propelled rocket kit in BTC ?

Sniper kit + training, 10000 LTC

IED's: 4 for 20000 NMC

4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy new bitcoin with currency 4/11/13 (can you do it without gox?) on: April 12, 2013, 07:59:06 AM
Intersango and BTC-e for me.

I am mining LTC at the moment, and trading them for BTC on BTC-e. Then to my wallet, and finally to Intersango to be sold.

Gox pee'd me off in 2011, so I changed to a local exchange, that being Intersango.

5  Other / Off-topic / Re: This is it! Fuck it! It is what is is! on: April 12, 2013, 07:53:29 AM
Anyone who risks money who cannot deal with losing it, is a fool, and deserves no sympathy. I laugh at them.

Actually, this whole thing gave me the horn. The knowledge that some came out of this very wealthy, while others are now destitute. I LOVE IT Cheesy

You realise, those of you who lost out, gave your money to those who gained, LOL and ROFL.

6  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If you're thinking buying mining hardware, read this first on: April 11, 2013, 01:24:25 PM
Quite a few new posters lately on the board with really good posts, including this one. Welcome.

I just wanted to add:

6. Cost of lost opportunity. Consider what you could have earned if you were doing something that you do professionally instead of tinkering with arcane software and hardware. Or maybe how much fun you could have had if you've spent this time with your friends and family. How much interest you could have earned on the money you've spent on mining rig, or how much interest you would not have to pay to bankers, or how much profit you could make if you invested it into something else. YMMV, of course.

Very, very, very good point, but not everybody has the same goals/ideals/beliefs, whatever one wishes to call it.

People tend to spend LOTS of time on these hobbies/past-times/activities because they enjoy it. They are here for the buzz.

I tend to spend a crazy number of hours creating game bots and hacks. Not for any financial gain, but just for the buzz of it.

I spend hours every week in the gym and running in the morning, but where one person might exercise to improve themselves physically another may be in it just for the endorphin hit. I'm the latter Smiley Endorphin junky Smiley

I thoroughly enjoy studying (currently doing an Open degree with the OU), but have no intent to use my qualifications to improve my job prospects. It's just a great buzz to study Smiley

Mind you, I do have a serious problem with authority, which no amount of qualifications will ever help, lol.

Now I'm rambling....

Temporary insanity.... priceless Wink

7  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: STOP using MtGox - the Bitcoin Central Bank on: April 11, 2013, 12:58:01 PM
The last time I traded on Mt Gox was mid 2011. Since then I use Intersango (BTC), and BTC-e for the other cryptocurrecies (LTC at the mo).
8  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN Mt.Gox] Hi everyone, just a quick update on the situation and what happened on: April 11, 2013, 12:48:33 PM

You are obviously no ideas of what you are talking about, come and work with us you will see how things are done and what we have to deal with on a daily basis. As I write this we have two concurrent DDoS attack with NO lags and still online. Things always seems easy at the other end of the keyboard.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

BS to the max. Nobody brags about that sort of thing. You are more than likely nothing but a fraud.

9  Economy / Economics / Re: We need BTC at 4$ again... on: April 11, 2013, 11:27:48 AM
It's on its way up again. People starting to re-invest by the looks of it.

This a is just money vendor for those with enough funds to control the market, just like with other currencies.

They bulk buy low, drawing in lots and lots of small time investors, thus helping to push the price up higher and higher, then the big cats bulk sell, sending the price down, scaring the little guys into scrambling to their keyboards to sell off, thus making the price crash, and allowing for the big cats to start their money making process all over a again.

Brought to you by Cap'n Conspiracy Theorist Wink

Actually, I'd like it to pop over $200, so that I can get some funds for the TT at the end of May Smiley
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did bitcoin go down? on: April 11, 2013, 11:06:10 AM
Geez, this reminds me of 2011.

11  Economy / Economics / Re: Bubble Trouble, or is it? on: April 11, 2013, 10:52:16 AM
Ah balls, and there was me just about to sell a few to pay for my Isle of Man TT trip... dammit, don't they realise I have lots and lots of beer to buy!
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Max Keiser and the Rise of Bitcoin Demagogues on: April 10, 2013, 09:57:21 AM
Max Keiser: I'm a fan of his Russia Today show, mainly as a means to wake up in the morning Smiley He is enthusiastic about his views to the Max Wink Very enjoyable.

In his last/recent show he said that Bitcoin will go up to $2700 in the not too distant future. He also said that he had predicted it to got to $175, and it has passed that now.

I'm one of those, probably one of many, who looked at those Avalon machines that were shipped last year, and just ummed and arred on investing in one or more a tad too long and missed the boat. But never mind, the miners I have, have been paying for my social life and holidays, so need to keep looking on the bright side of it all. Keep on mining :-)
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: noobminer questions on: April 08, 2013, 07:32:56 AM
Keep in mind that your income will quickly decline as all those asics come online. Bitcoins' appreciation might help lessen the impact somewhat. Play around with the difficulty and the rate based on what you think might happen. I think buying btc and waiting for asics is the better choice, but that's just my guess.

Once those things hit, the day of the current gfx cards will be over. You will still use them for the other cryptocurrencies. In fact I am using mine on LTC. Trading them for BTC @ a higher return than if I had my machines mining BTC.

I reckon those ASIC machines will ship, but the question is when. I was about to order 2 of the 60Gh/s machines, but they went and doubled the price and reduced the Gh/s to 50!

I guess a current investor who wants to mine has to just think:
are those ASIC machines real?
When will they ship?
If I invest in a rig with normal gfx cards, how long will they be able to work for me, before ASICs make them null and void ?

14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will BF Labs publicly reveal their new mining technology tomorrow (Nov 25th)? on: November 29, 2011, 05:55:30 PM
The deadline has passed and the official answer is "Last-minute bugs have pushed the deadline." That was the most popular choice with around 37% of the votes. Nice work everyone!

Now, what will happen next?

In my opinion, they would not have set a demo date if the software was not working. Maybe not optimized, but at least hashing. And they would not have delayed the demo if it was at least mostly functional. They also did not post an explanation to the message board, nor did they grant Inaba access to their own facilities. The product they showed him does little more than light up some LED's and the software is mostly repurposed open-source mining code.

Here's what I'm thinking:

They launched a quick site hoping to get a few pre-orders. Realizing that the pre-orders were coming in via PayPal rather than bitcoin, and were therefore subject to chargeback, they decided there was enough potential to make money that it would be worth running a long con. So they took some of the pre-order money and put together a few plausible-looking fakes. With orders still trickling in weeks later they decided to double down and set a demo date and show hardware to Inaba. If they could get him to confirm that he's seen the hardware and it might in fact be real they could hope for a flood of new orders, and maybe a rig-box order or two. If that happens, they'll use every trick in the book to delay while more and more chargeback deadlines expire.

Yeah, that is what was said on page 1 on the other thread.

There is no way this can work with all the information that they have given. Its a scam.

yep, definitely
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX Withdrawal issue on: November 09, 2011, 09:44:59 AM
I moved all my money into Liberty Reserve, and just this morning put in a transfer request to get that transferred to my UK HSBC account Smiley

PHEW ! Thank goodness that kerfuffle is over  Grin

I'll be using Britcoin from now on, although at this moment in time it is not worth my while to mine, so I am just monitoring the mining/trading situation.
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX Withdrawal issue on: October 24, 2011, 05:34:49 PM
I've just created a Liberty Reserve account, and withdrew the remainder of my funds to that. Let's see if MTGox can screw that up, lol

Why am I laughing ?!?!

They've made me go insane  Shocked Grin Angry Cheesy Roll Eyes  Angry Tongue
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox suspends EUR transactions on: October 24, 2011, 05:12:26 PM
Damn cowboys !

I've been using the international wire option, as recommended in that link, but my withdrawals keep on getting cancelled !

I used the "US Dollar to Euro currency (SEPA zone)" last Wednesday, I think it was, and so far that has not been cancelled. But then again, one withdrawal request lasted 2 weeks before it got cancelled.

Cowboys !
18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX Withdrawal issue on: October 20, 2011, 12:15:48 PM
LOL, I am seriously not impressed with this Mt Gox lot. I raised 2 tickets regarding the withdrawal of funds. The first querying why my withdrawal request has been cancelled for the second time, and the 2nd asking if I am selecting the correct options for withdrawing funds.

They closed both tickets, merging the 2nd ticket with the first ! And gave me the following answer:

Mt.Gox Support, Oct-20 10:34 (JST):
Hello Charles,
Thank you for contacting us. For information regarding deposit options, please see our informed FAQ page:
If your deposit is getting cancelled, it is due to your bank or not providing enough information. Please contact your bank to resolve this matter.
Thanks, Team

The problem is with WITHDRAWALS!! LOL, megga fail !

The linked article although dealing with both deposits and withdrawals did not shed any light on the matter Sad

From reading the previous posts in this thread, it is good to see that withdrawals of some sort are working.
Considering that, it makes me think that perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I am withdrawing funds to HSBC in the UK, and have been selecting "International Wire" from the options. Anyone know if this is correct ?

I could try Liberty Reserve if they allow people from the UK. Dwalla only allows US citizens Sad

19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX Withdrawal issue on: October 19, 2011, 11:59:02 AM
Has anyone been able to withdraw bitcoins ?

Damn Mickey Mouse organisation!

20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX Withdrawal issue on: October 19, 2011, 11:49:58 AM
Hmm, MT Gox cancelled my withdrawal request I made back on the 29th of September. they cancelled it on the 12th of October!

This is the 2nd time they cancelled the request ! And they have documented proof of who I am, and they said that they did not need this.

This all seems very dodgy to me.
