Generally both Ripple and Litecoin are very good coins but in my opinion Litecoin is more authentic, stronger and decentralized coin then ripple. Ripple has huge supply other side Litecoin has very less supply, so Litecoin have much better chances to grow in Comparison to ripple.

There are some altcoins available in very cheap price, which are have strong potential to grow in future such as RDD, Deeponoion, Sia coin, XVG, Ripple and Waves. In high price range are ethereum, litecoin, dash, stellar and monero good coin for investment, these all are have great potential to grow in future.

It may be better in some particular case but not in general. It is also depends on your luck as low market cap coins may give you high returns and also can lose your all investment in it because there are more risk due to less liquidity.

The cryptocurrency market is highly volatile in compression to other stock market but ups and downs is a natural phenomenon in all markets, So there never should be afraid when a downfall happens. At this time it is too better that you should have make average your holdings and holding is always best option, which can give more profits rather then panic sell.

The whitepaper have all the important information about the project and you can know all information about the company's future planning.
