There sure is a good number of HK donation websites popping up here and there since the fiasco, but I'm personally more comfortable in donating through the Human Rights Foundation. Idunno, I'm more comfortable donating through them as I feel like it's more guaranteed that my money is going somewhere.
I strongly agree to this. Due to the popularity of the alliance, many would rather donate online and mostly to them. Hence, there are a lot of organizations that has the same idea as the ACHK that haven't had any spotlight to gain popularity, but the movement and purpose remains one. Also, by looking in the website of Alliance Canada Hong Kong, I'm somehow bothered by how it looks. Yes, UI and UX doesn't mean as long as the website serves its purpose, but then many might use such opportunity to create nor make bad actions, especially be soliciting money that wouldn't go directly to the movement. We also help other less famous Hong Kong-Canadian organizations--any others that ask, really. There's a whole community over here that basically lives in fear of the CCP. If you know another group in need of support, just tell them to reach out to us. We don't care if you give us Bitcoin or not; we will help them anyways. I will also walk away happy if you donate Bitcoin to some other HK group, instead. I (one of the Bitcoin Co-op directors) was an English Second Language teacher before Bitcoin, and I still help run a student group with over 22,000 Facebook followers. I met my best friend through this group, someone who has helped me through thick and thin, and they keep complaining to me about China. Please do not take my attempt to help them as an attempt to step on anybody's territory; I would prefer you to help Hong Kong in whatever manner you prefer. Please rest assured that your money would be safe, however. I have been doing CoinFest ( www.coinfest.org) since 2013, and never taken embezzled from it. You can see all our finances on our website, tracked via blockchain, since we do not use fiat. I've been responsible for many other nonprofit initiatives in the blockchain space, as well. I also would not want to sacrifice my reputation; one of my startup projects ( www.eslcoin.org) communicates directly with the British Columbia Securities Commission, and would lose any chance of getting approval for an ICO in the future. Definitely a good option. Some friends of ours donate to the cause this way, actually.

Also, their CSO, Alex Gladstein, is an avid bitcoiner! https://hrf.org/programs_posts/hong-kong-desk/https://hrf.org/donate-bitcoin/You can also volunteer for a pro-Hong Kong organization. We just started doing it, really... some Hong Kong Canadians asked for help protecting their website, and we said "OK." They've already been getting DDoS'd ever since they testified to Canadian parliament. We had existing connections in the ESL/immigrant community, but you can find people in need of help if you look around at their rallies and stuff.

Anybody else working on this? Some Bitcoin community members in Canada have gotten involved due to the high number of Hong Kong expatriates here... they're helping them with security issues. The most notable beneficiary of support has been Alliance Canada Hong Kong--Google them to find lots of news results. See this page about the Initiative. Totally non-profit stuff

Bitcoin / Meetups / CoinFest 2021

COVID19 threw CoinFest for a loop in 2020, forcing the cancellation of all physical events for the first time in our years-long history. We still had to celebrate the usual date in April, however, so we did a big virtual event in Decentraland in partnership with www.blockchaingaming.com. We got media attention from multiple outlets and made a promo video you can watch. Things are still up in the air for CoinFest 2021, but we are optimistic that physical gatherings will be able to resume in April. Activities originally intended for CoinFest 2020 will occur as previously planned. If the global health situation does not go well, we will still do another event in Decentraland either way. We will provide more information in the next couple months.

We know you're all dismayed that the coronavirus has canceled events worldwide this year, but nothing can extinguish our celebratory joy! We shall gather in Decentraland, the virtual decentralized world based on blockchain technology, and get fee tokens, play games, and explore together. The schedule is designed to accommodate people in all time zones. Link: https://eventchain.io/event-details/37640881089839455f9bac2126962c24

The coronavirus has now brought significant changes to CoinFest this year. Despite our extensive preparations, sponsors and exhibitors from places like Italy and Washington State will not be able to travel. Health officials are also recommending against very large gatherings in Europe and North America.
As a result, events in Vancouver and Manchester will be drastically scaled down, this year. However, events in Africa—which has not been as severely affected—will continue as planned. Postponed events will return in the fall of 2020. Stay tuned for updates regarding new dates and the new status of CoinFest Vancouver and CoinFest UK.
It is looking less likely each day that we'll be hosting even something small in Manchester on April 3/4/5, still working on plans but some people who were adamant that they were still coming to Manchester after we postponed the main event have also now pulled out. We were thinking some smaller events focused on the specialities of the people still attending and focused around their ideal audiences We have canceled our events in Vancouver for April completely... we probably will not even meet at our local crypto hack space. I recommend taking drastic measures in the UK, as well, which seems to be getting hit hard. We are working to have an event in Decentraland, though... we just have to build our virtual clubhouse, first. If we can get it done in under two weeks, it would be great if you guys joined us online.

Will there be any online conference? Funny you should ask that. We are heavily considering organizing an event in a decentralized virtual world such as Decentraland. We will let you all know if that plan works out, hopefully soon. For now, you can learn all the details about what's happening at CoinFest 2020 from the updated webpage. Blockchain Gaming will be a huge component, and the coronavirus isn't gonna be stopping us.

Excited for the next Taurion competition! Surprised no article on Coindesk about Soccer Manager Elite and Taurion. They post articles on blockchain games here and there. We should get one on Coindesk during the next competition or before. Someone just bought a ton (100k) of CHI on liquid just now also. The buy was a good number of the coins on liquid for sale. I think about 5 percent of sell order side.
CoinDesk is rather corporate, sometimes, and influenced by back room deals at the most expensive conferences. Back before Bitcoin Magazine got purchased by a conglomerate, we used to be able to put cool stories like Huntercoin there. Kind of sad

It would be ace to connect us both together aswell during CoinFest!
Yeah, we must further improve our International Hangouts. If only we could change time zones, somehow! Maybe we could use a wormhole, or something

The Blockchain Gaming crew has some really exciting plans in the works for CoinFest 2020 in April. The two biggest participating cities, Vancouver and Manchester, will both have major blockchain gaming events. As usual, attendance will be free and open to everyone, but sponsors and exhibitors will want to be aware of some additional opportunities. Generous bulk deals will be offered to those who participate in both UK and Vancouver events. We recognize that some projects don't have enough team members around the world for that, however, so we encourage you to attend either one based upon whichever is geographically closer. Whichever route you choose, www.blockchaingaming.com will offer you a free bonus PR package. We will custom design/write one featured webpage/article about your project, or accept payment in locked tokens (preventing us from dumping immediately) if you wish to become a client. Our existing free community resources (Meetups, blog, forum for everyone) remain unchanged.

We've been adding a new content, lately. This is largely thanks to our partnership with XAYA. Some notable updates: to www.blockchaingaming.com include: - Our blog is now filled out with lots of blockchain gaming articles I wrote. Most of them were defining various terms in the blockchain gaming community.
- There is now a featured projects section
- Various projects are listed with their own pages. We started with XAYA and next is Taurion
We will continue adding a variety of content to the website, but content related to clients will be given priority. Our last Meetup with the Tap Project was well-attended. See the YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4ZdU6H5h7UThe next Meetup will feature the XAYA protocol. RSVP on: Episodes 12 and 13:
