1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something bothering me about the Lightning Network on: January 29, 2018, 04:56:44 AM
Thanks you two. This illustrates how the uninformed can be influenced by fud.
But ya, Ill read that whitepaper carefully.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Something bothering me about the Lightning Network on: January 29, 2018, 04:24:58 AM
I was just watching this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfGihfcLT4&t=836s

And a brief summary of LN would indicate that the nodes required to run LN would have to be operated by regulated institutions.
Long story short, assuming this video segment is correct, LN is starting to look like a slimy way for banks and governments to take over Bitcoin, and turn it into one big regulated/controlled clusterfuck that kills all that BTC stands for Sad

So is this just a bunch of fud?
Also... lets say LN is up and running and becoming widely used... will we still be able to use the regular Bitcoin network, complete with it's anonymity ( for the most part )

I really hate the idea of Bitcoin being raped by big brother Sad
Someone please tell me something to make me feel better, in the mean time I will keep reading and making myself more knowledgeable.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Y'all are traitors, thinking of BTC value as related to USD on: December 22, 2017, 04:24:07 AM
Why would it be traitorous? Bitcoin's value is dictated by USD. That's a fact. You can believe in Bitcoin and still look at it in terms of USD. That's how it's going to be for as long as Bitcoin remains an alternative means of payment. You can't gauge its value otherwise.

But hey, if you're willing to buy a burger for 2 Bitcoins, I have a few I'd like to sell you.

I just realized that my thread is pointless. I should delete it, but I will keep it here as a lesson to future posters.

get ready then to load the boat
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin stop its correction? on: December 22, 2017, 04:12:57 AM
there is no correction. 1 BTC will always just be one BTC, regardless of any fiat.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Y'all are traitors, thinking of BTC value as related to USD on: December 22, 2017, 04:10:42 AM
When I think of one Bitcoin... that is ALL I think about!
To think any further is traitorous.
i.e. Bob says " well, if Bitcoin hits $10,000 US, I'm gonna sell some and buy a new car "

It's unacceptable to think in terms of fiat.
Show some loyalty, and when you talk about Bitcoin, that should be it.

example. Bill says " I have 2 Bitcoins. Gonna buy some burgers now. "

This domain thing, to me, is a bad sign.
it takes less than $100 to register a domain for 10 years.
Why would a company who is in any way serious, not going to renew a domain for more than a couple years at a time? ( unless they anticipate exiting after a set period )
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has seen the currency gain nearly $3,000 in a day - Is this healthy? on: December 08, 2017, 07:25:04 AM
Today when I woke up, btc was at $16,700
Over the day it was going up and down untill a couple hours ago it was around $14500
But, over the last hour... shot up again to $16500... and who knows what tomorrow will bring...

I think the big boys are now buying and selling btc, causing bigger fluxuations
Dont let it bug you... try only looking at the price every Friday
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Hit $15,000 before year end on: December 08, 2017, 05:40:20 AM
Bitcoin is dumping like a truck... now at $14,200
The sky is falling! Everyone panic!!!
18  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining Journey (with Hashflare) on: December 07, 2017, 03:06:06 AM
Hashflare is down.
That's it, they have run off to Bermuda with our Bitcoins Sad
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hits $14,000! on: December 07, 2017, 02:58:42 AM
It went up so much because Trump declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you keep buying? on: December 02, 2017, 03:09:24 AM
why do some people say they cant afford btc at its current high price?
You dont have to but a single btc... you CAN buy .1 BTC... if you think the price will appreciate in 5 years,  then why not buy?
