321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DTC - Datacoin to be traded on distributed exchange on: December 25, 2013, 09:48:20 AM
I have no problem with using RIpple, I would have fired up gateways for many coins and assets myself when the rippled source code was released were it not that I was warned/advised that the gateway code that was released was not fit/intended for real use.

-MarkM-

can you explain this 'code not fit/intended for real use'? I'm very new to Ripple, so maybe you should discuss that with Jl77.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DTC - Datacoin to be traded on distributed exchange on: December 25, 2013, 09:36:24 AM
An issuer. Riiiiight.

Please correct the thread-title.

Something like "Datacoin IOUs to be traded on distributed exchange" or, better,

"Datacoin IOUs to be traded on Ripple network".

(Are you so ashamed of Ripple you need to conceal the fact the thread is about using Ripple?)

-MarkM-

you're right. Jl77, please, correct the title.
Mark, we have problems with getting on cryptsy (see above). People come to me and ask: where can we buy/sell DTC, we don't want to use bter. So we need to try all possible ways, and Ripple trading will be some kind of test - low amounts for the first time, just checking the system.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Exchange] Latest Cryptsy Additions, News and announcements. NEW SITE on: December 25, 2013, 09:31:58 AM
hey guys, what do you think: can Ripple help to create distributed exchange with many altcoins and replace Cryptsy ?
see this thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=383658.0
I just want to see your opinions.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DTC - Datacoin to be traded on distributed exchange on: December 25, 2013, 09:27:40 AM
It is really great thing. It will attract more people both to Datacoin and to Ripple, so it will be profitable for both sides.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Datacoin PromoThread - Information is Money, Datacoin Implements These Words! on: December 24, 2013, 09:32:48 PM
Very nice news Smiley I hope this will end good for both!

As for the starting page its very good. A few proposals:

The second image, the promo one, is too. In my laptop i have to scroll like two pages Tongue I would make it half the size. Of course so that we can read it clearly though!

And under that image i will add at the center something like this(Please fix mistakes):

Algorithm: CPU only! No GPU smelter etc.
Max Coins: 2,000,000,000 DTC
Block Time: 60 Seconds
Block Reward: 10-50 (See below)
Difficulty Retarget Time: Huh or whatever
Premine: None

I think thats all for now. Do it if you feel its okay. Its just a proposition Smiley

All done Smiley
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DTC - Datacoin to be traded on distributed exchange on: December 24, 2013, 09:21:20 PM
I confirm that. Cryptsy still doesn't want to add Datacoin (haha, they don't have money for some more hundreds GB - what do you think about that?), the only way to buy it is BTEr (coin-e have very low volumes). So we need other ways to trade Datacoin, and Ripple can help with this task after some testing.
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: QRK transfer error - did You receive 11403QRK ? - on: December 24, 2013, 03:53:01 PM

1. This fee is not hardcoded, 'dynamic fee' will be soon built into wallet - just like in Bitcoin wallet. But miners can set their own fees, so transactions with 0 fee can never reach destination. $1.00 per DTC - it was price when DTC costed 0.001 BTC, and Bitcoin price was $1.000. Now it's 0.5$. Anyway, $0.5 for MS Word document is not so much if you're not planning to store hundreds and thousands of documents.

Really ? Source ?

AFAIK the fees are hardcoded to 0.05 into Datacoin, you can easily change them to whatever you want using settxfee from the debug console or the rpc command but if you set them below 0.05 the transactions will not be accepted by the network (I have tried it).

The fees should get lower ASAP.

I am currently working in the envelope protocol described by oocooku I plan to deploy it soon on https://krypte.net

Sorry cryptrol, I meant that this fee is 'not unchangable', not just 'hardcoded'. Of course, it is hardcoded in common sense, but AFAIK it can be changed without hardfork. Anyway we need to clarify that with oocook5u.

BTW: oocook5u is updating repository just now, so maybe he'll appear here soon. Maybe he will answer this question. And what is optimal fee in your opinion?

331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DTC] Vote for Datacoin on Cryptsy #2 on: December 24, 2013, 08:55:26 AM
one more bump! Let's show Cryptsy that they shouldn't worry about several hundreds GB for storing blockchain - our DTC trading fees will be much more than cost of 100-200-500 GB SSD drive Tongue
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: December 24, 2013, 08:50:38 AM
A few more questions:
1. transaction max size is 128kb, right?
2. we can write up to 8 transaction in one block, right?
3. if transaction fee is 0.05DTC, then I pay 0.05DTC for up to 128kb of space. So I pay 0.4DTC for 1MB of space(8 transactions), correct?

1. correct
2. it' correct only if all transactions are 128 KB, unless you can write up to 1024 transactions (1kb min size)
3. no, you pay 0.05 DTC for each KB of transaction

337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + log on: December 23, 2013, 05:14:39 PM
I have a few question
Is datacoin have some total limit of coins that can be produced? If no maybe we need it.
2 billlion. With current diff (block reward depends on diff) this limit will be reached in 400 years, but really it will take much more time.
Also you can find more links and common info here:

338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: December 23, 2013, 03:13:16 PM
Datacoin would benefit from an electrum-style web wallet with client side security, and client file deposit/retrieval. Anyone currently working on the web wallet aspect?
We have crypte.net as simple web wallet, but of course we understand that electrum-style wallet can be better . So just now - no, but we  think about it, and if there are willing developers (or if they appear during our promotions after holidays), it will be cool.
